Confused, I have a chart with 21 g chords and the G maj7 , looks nothing like that , what's up. I know you know more than me but I can not find that chord in that form on any chart. Thanks. Help I need.
Hey david! would it be all right if you put the chord letters, and the way they are in chord form for a quick reference? Sometimes, I have those days where I want to play some of this, but I don't have enough time. And if you do this, it could help me alot quicker! Rock on man!
Great lesson, Ive got some spare time today to realy spend some time on this lesson, ive only been playing a couple of years, started late, ( I`m 55 ) but I am a big jazz and blues fan and I found this vid really helpful, just a few simple-ish chords that together make a great groove to work on, thnks again, steve , UK.
right on dave. best way to get better at guitar is to try playing stuff that is really hard to get right. keep trying and messing up and just keep trying and trying and a little while later you'll be at that level. I would suggest playing a song you like, not random chords that are difficult, but that's just me
Thank you for this. I have searched youtube over and over again and so far this is the only one that I have found to be helpful. Thank you for that breathe of fresh air.
I actually love this video. You've taught me to play guitar over the last few years man, thanks for all the help and guidance. This video basically showed me how amazing the lessons are, as in I'm soloing around these chords and adding embellishments etc from things you've taught me within seconds of seeing the video.
I have a suggestion: Make a video tutorial about jazz COMPING! I'm fairly proficient in it now, but I REALLY could've used a video when i was learning.
I might not have looked hard enough for a video lesson on harmonic minor exercises but if you dont already have one, can you show some arpeggio's that are good to play with that scale? i would appreciate it.
I have trouble doing chord transitions between like Standard G chord & Standard E chord, but I can play Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan pretty well (if you've never heard the song Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan, then that's not going to make any sense to you, go look up Stevie Ray Vaughan - Lenny & consider the amount of REALLY unusual chords that Stevie Ray Vaughan uses in Lenny....
I really love this man as a person, but this sounds so aweful! the chord changing is so dirty, the tone is shitty and the rhythmen is so not in the pocket!! :D like i said i like you man but .. i dont wanna hate. so i shut up. maybe its because i study in berklee jazz.. it just watched the first minutes, because it sounds so terrible. but i think man 8-16 year old can really learn from it. so thanks!
it took me a while with the Db9 -- I was wondering, why do you call it Db9 if your root note is D? Then I realized it's a D with a flat 9, not a D flat with a nine :D
That GM6 is a bitch. The challenge for me is in the switching of the ring finger and pinky. Getting that pinky placed above the ring is hard. But I shall get it with practice haha. Lol, thanks for the lesson David. You F....ing rule!!!
Hey David! Thanks for all these great lessons that you've made, I've gone from not knowing anything to making my own songs and soloing a bit! (I'm coming along!)
Jazzy progressions are exactly what I need at this stage of my guitar journey. Thank you!
Can you show us what kind of scale to use over these chords?
Hi - and thanks for your kind words - really appreciate that!
I am putting a jazzy solo lesson together now with killer practice soloing ideas of jazzy changes - will shoot that lesson this coming week - so it will be coming soon so stay tuned and keep on rockinG!
Killer lesson, as always! Love the jazz lessons! Keep those coming!!! And you are so right, once you learn a few jazz progressions, the other chords are amazingly easy.
Watching this video, I can't help but think how easy these changes are, but I remember a couple years ago when I was just starting to play jazz that they were all total bitches to play. This is a great lesson here, make sure to eventually do a lesson explaining the theory behind all these chord structures for the people who get these under their fingers but want to understand them more.
I'm not real good yet but looking forward to practicing these switches. Should make me a much better player. Thank you for all your videos, they're always so hlepful.
Hey i have a question, if someone that i meet yesturday tells me to play a song that i never heard, in public today with out testing it out before like improvise, How can i find out what note is he in and the chord progression?
No - its a different model the deluxe power strat has the tex mex pickups and the piezo pickup under the bridge that you can dial in and blend with the other pickups - check out my youtube video we I demo the guitar right here on our you tube channel rock on good people!
good eye - we gave away one just like this one - I liked that guitar so much O went out and got a similar one - its a Made in MExico deluxe power strat - cool guitar - rock on!

So in a sense, the Gmaj7 could also be seen a B minor chord, with G in the bass?
meadish 11 months ago
@meadish yes, major and minor chords are the same things. They're all interchangeable
