  • Which is the most powerful?

  • @teesidethai The Kar98k. It firing the larger and more powerful 8mm Mauser. Really though, the extra power is not needed or much of an advantage anyways.

  • @esh325 thanks anyways. i want to buy them both but cant see anywhere in england allowing such callibre weapons

  • @teesidethai Maybe join a gun club in England so you can fire them at least?

  • To be honest with you.I love the Mauser but I would go with an Enfield in combat because of its high capicity magazine and faster bolt.Sorry Brother I have done so many steel shoots with both rifles and the Enfield I have beaten time and alot of trained and dedicated riflemen with it.I keep one in the car for emergencies instead of an AR or AK because I know I can hit with one great in combat.Cheers! As the Brits would say.Hit hard Brothers!

  • Took my 1941 K98 for re validation firing on December 30, 2010. Engaged a half man silhouette at 100 meters from the kneeling position. I had two shot groups. One was at 6:00 o'clock at the number 7 band. The other was at 3:00 o'clock at the number 9 band. This rifle was more accurate than my 1940 model. I used old 1953 Yugo ammo.

  • this video says it compares two rifles, but there is no comparison information at all. i guess it's just someone playing in the woods.

  • Data in the video as followws: Range 100 yards, both weapons scored hits. Hence both are 100 percent accurate under those limited testing conditions at that range. Due to range and safety limitations I could not shoot beyond 100 yards.

  • Hard to decide which one is better. The Mauser is more accurate but its only noticable at long range. For an overall battle rifle, i think the Lee-Enfield comes out on top. i believe the Mauser is a better sniper rifle, since its more accurate at 1000 yards or more. Apparently the Kar98ks can hit man sized targets at 1300 metres using a modern optic and a highly skilled shooter.

  • Sexy beast is very true. All my K98's are Russian captures. So they are mixed parts guns that sat in Russia somewhere for who knows how long. I purchase them and cleaned them up and I they all shoot great. Amazing.

  • I agree with the "depends on the shooter" sentiment, but the 98k is a sexy beast.

  • its not all about the gun but the man behind it shooting

  • Agree, without a doubt!

  • Where you get these guns?

  • Where you get these guns?

  • The K98 came from J&G Gun Sales and the Lee was from Century International Arms.

  • my brother has a No.4 mk.1 great gun but if i was gonna get an enfield it would either be a No.1 mk..3 (British) and a No.5 jungle carbine(british), either way it would make him jealous :)

  • The No.1, mrk. 3 is the classic. The shoot off was designed as WWII comparision. I like the No.1, Mk3 better of the two.

  • I have never fired the lee enfield but I do love my 1941 mauser k98. It's a really fun and accurate gun to shoot!

  • I really appreciate both the fine infantry weapons. I picked up another 1943 Enfield No.4, Mrk 1 last week. Great gun! Having just worked through the Enfield I like the Mauser design better. For instance, you need a special took to break down an Enfield bolt. Both are fun to shoot and dead on accurate.

  • i personaly cant stand the enfields cock on closing feature. i find it to be a poor weapon because of that and the need to load the magazine or stripper clips in a certain way for it to function. these are terible flaws in my opinion. and the 10 rnd mag does not make up for it. i prefer any mauser. any day over an enfield. id rather have an enfield than nothing at all though.

  • I find the action on the Enflied to be very smooth and "fluid". I think it would have a faster rate of fire than the K98 but never have done a side by side timed testing. I intend to do some long range testing this winter.

  • nice! that would make an interesting experiment. good luck with it. they say that the enfield is capable of very fast shooting. i like them. but, i just cant get past the cock on closing thing.

  • I have read that the Enfield can fire up to 30 rounds a minutes and be effective at 200 meters. Seeing is believing for me! I'll post the video I soon as I can schedule a range date. BTW, I think I'll take out my 1903 O3-A3 just for good measure!

  • @junglelover287b you wouldn't like the swede mauser then. Its a cock on closing bolt too.

  • both rifles are good, im making a lee enfield model, just with my own drawn schematics. unfortunately its not going to shoot. but i love both rifles, and as you said they do have their and good and bad points

  • i dont know about the kar but i know that the 303 has a kick like a donkey but that might have been the fact that it was over 20 yers ago when i last fired one & was very young great rifle though

  • I found the recoil on both the K98 and Lee to be fine. That is true for me because I am much older plus I have fired both a great deal. The shorter rifles like the Russian M44 kick like crazy!

  • realy? im 13 and when i fire the m44 i do get a big kick but nothing to complian about.

  • how much does each gun cost on average. i wanna buy a mauser but if the enfield is cheap i might get that. i dont wanna spend more than $200

  • All Enfield's I have purchased have been $200.00 or less. The Number 4 was $150.00. The K98 Mauser's will run you at least $225 and up. That price range is for 'Russian capture" quality weapons. Both my K98's are Russian captures. Both weapons are must have for WWII collectors.

  • Good luck! lol. I admire the strictness of your budget, so to speak, but...frankly...anymore it's very, very, very, VERY difficult to find EITHER of these two types of rifles under $200 - especially any K98k. Every so often, though, you find a "basement find" Mauser, which someone's willing to part with for under $200, maybe.

  • yeah i figured that i might settle for a m44 mosin, however i remember seeing k98 mausers at my local gun stores for 150 about 6 months ago but more than likely the prices have gone up.i dont really care what gun i get as long as its bolt action and fires a powerful round, it's the first gun im gonna buy seeing as how i turned 18 a week ago, not its not the firs i used but the first i buy on my own.

  • I feel that the k98 and the Lee Enfield are equal but i would go with the lee because they are more accurate at long ranges up to 1200 yards.

    (both are good though)

    good video.

  • Both rifles have strong points. I love the 10 round mag on the Enfield. The action is also very smooth. On the other hand the K98 is very accurate and has a smooth action. You cannot go wrong with either weapon.

  • i think both of them are beautiful rifles. If i had to choose what weapon i would like yo use in a war, i probably would choose the enfield (cuz the 10 rounds), but if i had money and could buy one of them, i would buy the Mauser. Hard choice, but nice vid!

  • Both rifles are my top two favorites of all time. I prefer a bolt action over a semi-automatic for accuracy reasons. The actions on the Lee and the Mauser are superb. I would love to purchase at least two more.

  • Same here! I mean, the M1 Garand are a fine rifle, but somehow i would still rather use/have/own a mauser or lee enfield. As you said, they are mor accurate!

Nice! I'm just 16 and i'm a huge wwII fan and have read books and stuff since i was seven, my dream is to fire a couple of rounds with some WW2 Rifles. You can't find anyone of them here, but the mauser i think can be found (Sweden used it to but here it's called M/96)

  • The 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser is a fine gun that is very sought after by collectors. Having spent some time in the Army I like the stopping power of the 7.92mm round better.

I'll bet you will get your chance to fire a Mauser or Enfield. When you are sixteen there are many things to be done. You will get to the range in time. If you are ever on this side of the pond let me know. I'll get you out to the range.

  • I'm going to a shooting range someday and try out som swedish pistols and stuff, they don't have any rifles there i think, but somewhere in sweden there must be a place where i can try the mauser and/or lee enfield! My dream is to live in USA (Iowa i think, i like Iowa) and then i'm going to have my own shooting range and some classic rifles.

    Wow, thank you! :)

  • 20 round trench mag sorts the round issue

  • both good rifles but I think the Mauser looks better

  • I agree. I do like the 10 round mag in the Lee. That is a a big advantage on the battlefield. On the other hand the K98 seems to give you a little more punch when it hits the target. Like I said both are fine rifles with the the K98 looking "cooler".
