  • is it just me who rofl's at this ? their clothing, their faces, the lyrics?

  • Sorry guys...Your hearts are in the right place, but even as a nostalgia scene, well..... Thanks for your work in the 60's & 70's..... but get a real 21st century job!

    And I'm a 61 year old boomer!

  • MHHH, back then I didn't have gay-dar

  • this my papa's fav song...

silence is golden, but my eyes still see... hehe,

  • מוקדש לזאב הכי שועל בישראל - אללה גבעות עולם

  • Sad! Only two original guys!! and miming! so sad!

  • The best of the oldies................thanks!

  • They all are in death from suicide

  • Definitely lip-syncing. ☺

  • @Lugwalker How do you know?

  • Awesome song !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I heard this great song hundreds of times on my car radio in 1969.

  • They're a great group, but did the guy in the shorts lose a bet?

  • Wow. They still sound sooooo good.

  • I am 58 and i had the privilege to see them perform live in the 70's(in their leathers) and i have a video of them on stage and myself in the front row(dancing) ,how amazing is that ,i ask you. And now at my age i also enjoy my 2 sons music choices.....Muse(Brit.band) and Usher, etc. Music was always my drug of choice, as single mum, i could sit for hours with the headset, after they've gone to bed. Peace and love to ya all.

  • @33Sissygirl Forgot to say, The Fortunes and The Equals also perform on same nite....one show !! Someone once said " the silence that follows the music, still belongs to the performer"

  • I heard these guys were caught having sex in a conga line.

  • @Normalman48 LMAO

  • Hahhaa, leather pants! Still love this song!

  • I'd like to see Justin Beiber, Jonas Brothers, and other of today's useless snot-bags sing like this.

  • Yes - it came out the summer of 1967 - the "summer of love" and where people were wearing flowers in their hair.

  • this vid's pretty cool, but DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE GUY WITH THE GOLDEN VOICE?

  • Armed Forces Network Vietnam one of the favorites

  • The guy in the middle has leather shorts on?

  • Simply great! I just hope I will have that spark of life in my eyes when I reach their age.

  • Guys... the voices haven't changed because their lip-synching to the recording. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but the vocals clearly aren't live.

  • @PhantomSheeep

    they're**

  • @PhantomSheeep thats what I was thinking...i was around when this song played on the radio and it sounded EXACTLY the same.

  • @PhantomSheeep

    One thing for sure.

  • @finger943 sure u did met em...that cuz ur an old ass muthafukka

  • @finger943 I wonder why they aren't as well known as the other groups you've mentioned. They really are incredible singers.

  • i loved this then love it now,, the shorts are a worry.... but voices have not changed!!!

  • i loved this then love it now,, the shorts are a worry.... but voices havwe not changed!!!

  • I could listen to this 20 times and never bother to look at the video. Music was better before there was video - and like skidmark said, this was lip synced from the recorded version. Do yourself a favor, close your eyes and just listen!

  • All time hit.

    I was very young then.

  • They have just finished touring in the 'sensationsal 60's experience'. They sang this with just one guitar and no other backing as here .. any yes they can sing great!

  • うー。40数年ぶり。魅力は落ちてないね。

  • Best harmonies ever!!

  • You can see where the Eagles got some of their influence. No question the harmonies inspired the Eagles.

  • I have the 45. Stole it from my brother in 68?69?Dunno exactly. In there w/patti smith.

odds & ends. Say-have you heard Adele? "Rolling in the Deep"new.2011.love it.

  • Are they still singing? I would love to go to the concert. Anyone knows?

  • Such a beautiful classic song. But whats with the shorts? The other guys must be trying so hard not to crack up. My friends would never let me get away with something like that without torturing me.

  • It's good cause it's lip synced from the 1967 recording.

  • Quite good for a live performance!

  • A classic song...beautiful harmonies...

  • OMG. I liked this song so much more before I saw THE SHORTS!

  • @iillylabrat LOL I agree!! leather shorts.. keeping the right parts warm... ...

  • @foxfly23 For dudes so worried about the effects of sexual adultery, they sure do show off their own packages. Each of them must be singing about each of the other ones. THEM!

  • @etbella3 I didn't know they were worried about such things; and I'll take your word for what they're singing about!

  • Waarom hoor je dit nooit meer op de radio?

  • I love this song and the harmony of these guys. But seriously......they need to rethink the leather pants.......and shorts.

  • @chrispmis Richard Simmons-ish.

  • @etbella3 Richard Simmons-ish...? I can't argue with you there!

  • Those were the days when we have great songs and music.

  • This or X Factor folks?

  • @foxfly23 Feels liike the 60's to me

  • late 60's

  • don't hurt her you fool

I've told that to myself a million times and still I do so :(

  • @nikolasmaes99 hmmm we do think this, yes.

  • @nikolasmaes99 Sex addiction -- the root (slang for wandering penis) of all evil.

  • lip-syncing - but very talented vocal group, actually beat out another famous group at an audition - know who? yup, the Beatles.. famous failed business opp..

  • I wonder when this video was made? They sound just like they in the '60's.

  • the lip sync is awful, but Ive always loved the tune!

  • Beautiful song, just not this lip-synced version as a video.

  • Where is Chip Hawkes ?

  • esta cancion es del 67, yo naci en el 72 cinco años despues de ser un exito. y hoy a mis 38 años adoro esta cancion

  • wowo

  • Beautiful song !

  • Beautiful. Thanks for preserving this beautiful song.

  • el reencuetro vegetal

  • didnt realize they were already making a roland synth guitar that early. that is what hes playing isnt it? great harmonies

  • Does anyone know the name of the guy on the far right facing the band?

Looks very familiar from another band. Are they from New Jersey USA Thank's Sir David

  • Who is playing the drums and bass? Ghosts?

  • fantastic harmonies.... where have they all gone now??? simply fantastic lyrics.

  • This reminds me of staying at my nans house when I was little and my uncle Robin playing this on his guitar, hes only eight years older than me and I'm fifty now.

  • long before my rocking chair got silent

  • My Mums cousin was Allan, I miss him very much! Dave inspired me to play the drums! Great band!!!!

  • oh dear dear dear, is this right said fred?????

  • they are lip syncing. sounds way to precise to the original studio recording.

  • age should bring some sense to the clothes you wear-take it from a 60 year old man- i never wear speedos

  • this song hits the spot! talk about memories!

  • Could well be a theme song for US citizens unhappy with the Patriot Act and the continuing spiral of our government into Autocracy.

  • sigo pensando con quien baile esta cancion en 1968

  • ARGH!! OLDIES FTW!! This is where music really started!

  • gay ay is goldenn, but my but still h urrts

  • the backing group for brian poole who i beleive was a young butcher from wolverhampton i met him in mablethorpe in 1986 he had some sucsess the tremeloes went on to better things

  • Not bad singing for a bunch of old fogies!

  • @LkOutMtnMan That`s because its a total lip sync of the studio recording from 1967.

  • @pilesovinyl

    correct!

  • Neat times! Remember well-- good friends and times!

  • O pessoal do Roupa Nova está tentando carreira internacional agora?

  • Whoa - fav song @ 12yrs old beautiful.....

  • Classic.

  • One of my all time favorite songs. Great harmony!

  • Best time in music

  • Best time in music

  • Do they have to wear special trousers (pants) just so they can hit those high notes ??

  • Great song but a lousy lipsync!

  • This came out in the late 60's and this is just a great rendition by the lads who sings like this anymore?

  • @foxfly23 This song was a hit around 1965

  • @lizardsy Summer of '67

  • @lizardsy Summer of '67

  • @LeoGorcey I stand corrected

  • @lizardsy for the four seasons

  • Absolutely beautiful song that I have loved since it came out ,,But I do think all these guys are a little special ;-)

  • Why isn't more pop music like this? Music of that calibre is heavenly, I love it.

  • Beautiful song!

  • So rightly said Theresa, I love silence , just listening to your music links and the birds since 5.00 am .

  • what the fuck are those shorts all about?????

  • on the same day in 1962 Decca records auditioned two groups and signed the Tremeloes over some guys called the Beatles.

  • i love this song.

  • talkin is cheap, people follow like sheep, even though there is nowhere to go.......brilliant....brilliant ....brilliant

  • This cannot be live...IS IT? This is the 60's single and they have to be lipsynching. Arent they? It sounds too good to be live....

  • @marcking1975 I agree

  • oh dear!

  • Saw Brian Poole and the Tremeloes at Walthamstow Granada in the 60s, great!!!!

  • What happened to Brian Poole?

  • i love u !

  • If silence is golden, You would be poorer than the poorest in the great depression. all im saying is.....SHUT UP!!

  • who gives an eff what they wearing it is a kick azz song that survives the years, dont matter if someone is gay or proud of being gay, this aint 1950 anymore! who cares if he wants to wear shorts ,it aint no fashion show mate!

  • Hieno kappale, great - kryta

  • I could never get the lines 'talking is cheap when you talk to your sheep' out of my head!!! Lovely classic though.

  • By far one of the best groups that ever lived .. To bad they ended there own lives.. what a shame but i guess god had other plains for them..

  • Only original member Alan Blakely is brown bread. The rest are all still in rude health.

  • @nickbaldeagle01 Isn't Chip / Chick or some name like that, also passed on?

  • @Joshua12345 Chip Hawkes, as far as I'm aware, is still in the land of the living.

  • You would think with the money they made from this record the guy in shorts could afford to buy a pair of long pants. he he he

  • "Gay's????? I only see queer's!"

  • lip singing......

  • What's with the octogenerarian fag in the tight leather shorts? It kind of takes the romance out of the song when a old age walking ad for a gay pride commercial is in the middle of it all. Good song, otherwise despite the stand for a sick, deviant lifestyle choice.

  • All he needs is a large handle bar moustache and the others to dress as a construction worker, Indian chief and police officer and we'd have the full set LOL

  • A nostalgic song. Brings tears to my eyes evertime I hear it.

  • omg! wot the hell r they wearing??

  • that's what I was thinking ..... yikes!

  • Great!

  • Obviously they are doing a lip synch here but is it the original recording of SILENCE IS GOLDEN or is it a re-recording of the song? How many times have they re-recorded it?

  • "The right acoustics, always bring out the best."

  • Love this song. Brings back great memories from summer 67-- first love, first car, great times!

  • I love this song , what happened to the one singers pants, they're too short , hehehe

  • a bit like some of the myming that they where doing at the start of the song..................... very short! good song as always by a good group, but not as good as the original line up with Chip Hawkes who is Chesney Hawks dad

  • only playback

  • love this makes me want to fall asleep xx

  • AHHH shut up!

  • Harmony like this reminds me of sydney band American Graffiti , check em out live.

  • Many years ago I knew a guy that could sing this song and sound just like the lead singer and during the lyrics silence is golden he would lift his leg and fart. I thought I'd share this with you. Never the less it's a very nice song.

  • Wonderful harmony!!! I could listen till my ears bleed!

  • ovbiusly playback !!!

  • Nice music

  • Sublime....bons tempos!

  • Somebody pranked the third guy and cut his pants off.

  • Funny!!!!

  • Frank... rap is music?????? I agree about old stuff like this, but yeah I thought to qualify as music a member of the band needs to soing or play an instrument and rap does neither, cept maybe each others skin flute after they get off stage, lol

  • The song is beautiful, but their outfit? Really weird.

  • It's a lip synch but who cares. We are blessed to have the music and the band looks great

  • newalm, do you have certain documentation to support what you're saying? Just curious, because many of our older bands still have it together, some not so much..But lip syncing? After Nilli Vanilli, who'd want to take the chance?

  • Just listen to the original recording and this one. Exactly the same voice tones and instrumentation! Especially after over 30 years? Does not matter to me, I was just making a point.

  • gotcha! no offense taken or intended-

  • They are not really singing, they are lip syncing from their original recording.

  • The guy in shorts was at the gym and forgot about the concert and did not have time to change his clothes and rushed.

  • how do you think he can hit thoughs high notes? lol i have to invest in a pair of shorts like that!

    great song , great song

  • Are these guys brothers?

What's with the one guy wearing shorts.

    Yuk

  • Listen the lyrics.............Mind your business

  • they are not singing they are jus moving their mouths but i love the song

  • or I should have said the 60's, they still look good as well.

  • Still sounds like they did in the 70's great song.

  • ,,you have a pair of shorts like that don`t you?

  • Crikey, Vintagezigg...If I had a talent like that ... and a body like that I would want to show it off to its best advantage...after all werent band members basically 'chick magnets'

    ( chuckles )

  • Forever ครั้งหนึ่งในห้วงแห่งกาลเวลาที่ผมจะจดจำเพลงนี้

  • i know it sounds really sad..but i love this song, its one of my favs...is that such a bad thing as im in my 20s???? brilliant song,x

  • No not all ... you just have a good ear and good taste for good music and good lyrics. It's such a shame that angry music like rap has become instead of such beautiful music. Good music knows no era or age groups!

  • I realize that Silence is golden, but I have to wonder what possessed the gray haired Tremeloe to go out onstage with those tight leather shorts and tank top ? Anyway ,Great band Great song.

  • Anybody remember what year this was first released? I have a friendly bet with my brother that it was 1967 and he says no it was 65. Can anyone help. Thanks.

  • 1968 I think.

  • @crestadent

I heard it about 1967 too! I remember listening to it at my aunt and uncle's house when we moved in the summer of that year. I thought it was one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard; it still is!

  • To appreciate the brilliance of this song, closing your eyes and justice is done.

  • They are lypsynching to the original release. This was also done by 'The Four Seasons' but this was the big hit.

  • I always liked these guys, they sound so good here, does anyone know if this is live or lipsync

  • Thank you ftf.......This is "The Tremeloes" Dave Munden is the longest continuing member, on drums. The guitarist on the left and the most underappreciated, Rick Westwood, the second longest member. Len "Chip" Hawkes gravitates in and out (not in this picture). Alan Bakeley passed of cancer in 1996. See official site for history and member rotation. Really now........it takes an American hippy chick who saw them in concert "back when" to tell you where to look for group info. Onward, guys

  • To groovibri, There are two original members. Rick West on the guitar, and Dave Munden in the shorts. Dave was the drummer. Alan Blakely had already passed away.
