  • for the double tonguing parts do use the front and the back of your tongue or do u single tongue super fast??

  • Beautiful technique on those sixteenth notes before the double tonguing , your interpretation of this piece is wonderful. just don't get too excited on the forte parts ;) it's easy to over blow on this piece (trust me, it cost me an audition)

    keep up the wonderful playing

  • I like the nice, lively quality of your sound. Well done!

  • Your not that bad :3

  • i loved it....im going to post mine up soon....so have a look when i do and let me know what you think....great playing

  • This was nice. A couple of phrase endings where you went a little flat. (Most notably right before the "B" section.) Lovely articulation in the Allegretto. A little more dynamic contrast would have been nice...good job, overall.

  • Amazing! This is a wonderful piece, and you played it beautifully.

  • Hello:

I enjoyed your video. I was wondering if you could tell me more about the headjoint you play on. I noticed it's wood. Who made it and what are the specifications.

    Thanks again and happy fluting!

  • My headjoint is a Fullcircle by Folkers and Powell and is the Louis Lot model.

  • this was AMAZING!!! wern't the double notes towards the end of the first page IMPOSSIBLE!?!? this is my nyssma peice for the year!

  • You have a really nice sound...too bad not in a hall with a real accompanist. have SmartMusic too :)

  • You're really great!! I played this on my graduation concert, so I know how difficult is it... =)

  • wow! ur amazing really gd! are u a flute teacher?

  • It sounds great!

  • excellent performance! great sound!

  • I would hear more the piano...

  • I just realize that it's a sort of "karaoke" tape... That 's why the piano is so metronomic !! (no interest...)

  • Very nicely played, thanks for sharing!

  • is your flute head made of ebony?? or wood??

  • It's made of grenadilla.

  • thanks.

lol, what's grenadilla? ive never heard of that, let alone on a flute! haha

  • It's a type of wood commonly used to make piccolos, etc.

  • ahhhhh yes!!! lovely

    thanks!

good job with this piece, it's quite hard, im playing it right now and finding most difficult the short run from a3-d3 e3-b2 (or whatever it is) on the first page and the longer double tongued bit.

    any tips?

  • @kelandjen and Oboes, Clarinets, etc...

  • I really like your vibrato, not to strong but not to weak, it really matched the mood of the song. I love how you play this piece!!

  • I love thisss.

  • I love this piece! Your sound is gorgeous. It is so flowing and nice to listen to. You are very talented.

  • This is a lovely performance! :) Can I ask what headjoint you're using?

  • Thank you. It's a Folkers and Powell Full Circle Lot model headjoint.

  • I have a Folkers and Powell Full Circle Lot model headjoint as well. I love it! Great little headjoint!

Great job on Poulenc, great piece.

  • Thanks John!

  • Man, you've got some great clarity in your playing. Keep up the good work.

  • Jen, this is the best I've heard you play this piece. It's wonderful. Keep plugging along. Your maturity is really showing. I love your sound! (of course, I always have)

  • In which case I think you should enter the BFS Geoffrey Gilbert Adult Amateur Competition!! nice playing, what make of wooden headjoint do you play on?

  • Thanks for the nice words. I'll have a think about that competition. I play on a Folkers and Powell Full Circle Lot model headjoint.

  • Jen : I tried to send you a message but youtube said it failed to send-so here it is: I don't know where you are located, but you should consider playing in my masterclass for middle school-adult amateur players at the Kentucky Flute Society Festival! Michel Debost will be the guest artist at the convention and I'll be doing one class and a little performing. It is Jan 17-18. Let me know if you are interested.

    -Nina

p.s. others can attend, too! Let me know.

  • Very nice playing and clean double tonguing passage. Too bad smart music doesn't allow for more breathing pauses between some of the larger phrases/sections, but still a nice way to experience the work with accompaniment. Play more!

  • I agree this is a very nice performance. I enjoyed listening!

Btw, you actually can adjust pauses in SmartMusic. You can add "wait for note" messages so that the program won't go on until it hears you play the given note.

  • I love your playing - very perfect! Beautiful flute sound!!!! And a beautiful piece!!!

(... but - I hate Smart Music - never could find anything good in it, and I had always problems with registration - despite full license!).

  • That means a lot to me that you posted that! SmartMusic isn't great, but as a musician living in a "culturally desolate" area, it's been great fun! I may have to indulge your patience more.

  • Hi, sorry if misunderstood,

I did not mean that I hate your smart music accompaniment here, I just hate using smart music myself - maybe I give it a new try one day ...

  • No misunderstanding and no offence taken. I appreciate your comments.

  • HAHA, I know exactly what you mean by living in a "culturally desolate" area. I wish there was a community band or something close to my new home, so I could play with other people. Nice playing, by the way:)
