i dont know why i dont like it - too bluesy for me - satelite blues is awesome , Black ice is better than stiff and ball breaker and i think record sales prove tho -
bon and brian are legendary in equal measures - bon had stage presence and better songwriting ability - i think ballbreaker and stiff upper lip are worst AC albums personally - they have got back on form with black ice
i like bon and brian but i still say you cant beat 70s acdc.....bon could tell a story and brian didnt really right half as many songs ang and mal did most of it after bon died......
@bigbobdfg i remember back in the day. on the day in fact when the announced it on the radio Bon had died. I was so disoriented I joined the Marine Corps. Now even 30 years later with the exception of Back in Black (awesome disc) I still prefer Bon Scott.
@hrtlyhrlyrdr I prefer Bon too especially Highway to Hell. For Those About to Rock is an amazing album too. But wtih the exception of those two albums...when you listen to their later songs, you cant help but think about how much better it would be with Bon
what? name a bad Brian song? i can name a bad Bon song: big Balls, yea it's funny, but not much replay value, Brian actually wows audiences live, he's much better than bon imo, since he sounds more like the studio sound. And before you start, i have the full AC/DC Discography including the live albums, it's just my opinion, don't get personal about it.
this album is under rated there are several great songs on this album, but that is one man's opinion. this song is good, shake your foundations, back in business, danger are great songs too. but whatever your opinion of this album, we all agree that ac/dc kicks the most ass!!!!! long live real rock!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's kinda' non-creative. It went a little down-hill with Flick of the Switch, but with Fly on the Wall they hit an all-time low.
But, at the same time, it wasn't bad. ^^
It doesn't really have one memorable track, at least Flick of the Switch had maybe two (in my opinion) songs that rose a little above the quality of the other songs- but their still not AC/DC classics.
Fact is, I don't really think I could say I particularly like any of the songs on this album. No really bad songs, but no good.
Wein, there's no memorable songs on the album for non hardcore fans. The entire album is very memorable to me. The boys didn't try going into the studio to make a slick radio friendly album like hth. The whole idea on this album and fots was to make a raw low production album for the die hard fans, like the old days of recording. Personally i get tired of the same old "back in black" and "highway to hell" on the radio all the time. Give me "send for the man" anyday. I'm a hardcore fan.
I prefer 'DC's earlier music, which were something in the blues-rock vein, where this is like raw heavy-rock. I like this album, actually, but what I was saying was that it was 'non-creative'. It didn't have any really clever lyrics, (which no 'post-For Those About to Rock' album had, actually) and the songs seem really uninspired.
But it's not entirely bad, as I said, and a few good tracks can found- but I wouldn't call them memorable.
And, by the way, I don't think it's fair to say that you are a 'hardcore fan' just because you like all of their albums. Both Fly on the Wall and Flick of the Switch were not much like their earlier (and later, of course) albums. So I wouldn't say it's for 'die hard fans', just because it's more 'raw' than their latest albums. The earliest Bon Scott albums might have been a bit more 'raw', but they were certainly not as unrefined as this.
Its like thier old stuff in terms of production and rawness (fotw and fots) not in terms of era or style (it was 85 not 75). I think it's a VERY creative album. Just because you think it doesn't have creative lyrics, doesn't mean that you or any other poser Rolling Stone critic out there is right. Opinions are like assholes, u know the rest. I know what I like, and this album happens to be my 3rd favorite behind Powerage and Flick. I'm glad to see u think that u know more about me than i do.
I know what I like, too, and what I don't like. And I sort of like this album, i never said it was
And why am I a "poser Rolling Stone critic" just because I see many flaws in this album?? I don't even think my opinion of this album is really like anyone elses opinion. The most maintream reviewers dislikes this album, whereas I don't; I like the album for its rawness and the way it doesn't try to be like their past couple of successful albums, but as I said, it's got many flaws.
And I'm not saying that I know more about you than you do, or anything. On my original post I was just explaining that I didn't think it was THAT good, nothing more.
@codylovesfords over rated or not it doesnt change the sound of the song, its the best selling acca dacca album in the world for some reason. no disrespect
It's AC/DC's worst album in your opinion. I happen to believe "Stiff upper lip" is the band's worst album, but that's my opinion. I never listen to music critics. They're failed musicians. I know what i like.
@baredd79 It doesn't matter to me. I just like the feel of the guitars and the rest of the instruments colliding with one another. I just like the way it sounds. Euphoria from the concert keeps me from disliking any of their music.
lol I saw that now. Of course I meant Blow Up Your Video.
Anyway, FOTW isn't a terrible album but it isn't one of my favourites. You have songs like Send for the man and Danger but nothing like from Back in Black or FTATR they miss a real hit on this album.
Only true blues power Rocking fans can get into this album. Sink the pink or Shake your foundations? Yeah this wasn't Back in black but it has some rocking songs,
I still think Powerage,Flick Of The switch,Fly on the wall and you can add Ballbreaker as truly underrated AC/DC albums. Simon Wright played drums on this album.
hey, RockNRollDamnation3, i know a song i want on YouTube. its called "Geordie - Got To Know" its a really good song by Brian Johnson's former band, Geordie
This is a boring song..too repetitive with the lyrics towards the end. This album had some good songs on it but overall there was too much filler material.I think the last best album that ac/dc released was "for those about to rock" .The albums that came after that were all lower quality.
Personally I like the album but I have to agree with you there, its just too much. Cut it down to 3:45 or something and take out all the repetitiveness.
Funny, I don't really like For those about to Rock on the whole. The titile track rules, but I'd rather listen to this one all the way through. To each their own I guess. I know this album wasn't very well recieved , and I've never known why, but fuck it! It rocks.
