Did they copy the rhythm and drive from Deep Purple or did Deep Purple copy ?
:-)
both are fantastic.
and if I remember well, then Jan Ackerman was awarded "best guitar player of the world" in 1974 (by "The Melody Maker"), one year AFTER Richie Blackmore ...
@DenStrammeLaban If I hear the word "awesome" on Youtube just one more time I think I'm gonna throw up. Doesn't anyone ever get fed up using that stupid word?
@DenStrammeLaban Sorry just realised English may not be your first language and I apologise. The word "awesome" is desperately uncool, and is associated with American teenagers.
theres loads of bands like this 2 day u old folk are stero typeing with out atualy knowing anything aboult modern rock music wake up lol this isnt a dig at ur music coz i love old and new stuff
@OfficialNeilGard can't immagine jedward or jls yodeling... thank god. wish they'd bring back decent rock and roll like this and im sayin this as a 13yr old
memories of drug crazed days, why don't they make music like this today. God I miss groups like this :-) Must get that old Triumph chop out the garage and have a blast up into Wales.
Shit, I forgot I'm in a wheel chair, never mind. thanks anyhow :-(
They're playing the song so fast that Thjis Van Leer can barely hold it together. You can see him straining to rush and get all of the vocal parts in. Pierre Van der Linden was an awesome drummer. Jan Akkerman could give Ritchie Blackmore a run for his money any day.
Wow! Pierre van der Linden was (and is) the Buddy Rich of rock drumming. Sad that van Leer's years of smoking ruined his falsetto---he used to have a four octave range. Still a fine keyboardist and flautist. Akkerman is technically a much better guitarist now than he was then, and he was phenomenal then! Bert Ruiter was a fine R&B style bassist, but using a pick? Great song, great band, great video!

These guys were too ahead of their time. Their style of music didn't really settle in until another 10 years when the 80's rock came about. Back then we considered Focus just a fun but short lived oddity of sound. We didn't take this sound seriously enough in the early seventies. Lots of Zeppelin, Santana and Hendrix on the radio back then. Personally, I couldn't get enough of Focus.
That's Gladys Knight, face! She and the pips were going great guns at that time. And say Khom, Jan couldn't screw up a peanut butter sandwich if he used tuna. He was the Grand Master of his time. You think Eddie Van Halen and others didn't get off on this stuff? Whew!
Acid can be used to something good also !
