  • Great song i live in Pittsburgh

  • Cool tune

  • I still have this album - yes I said ALBUM!!!

  • I still remember the first i heard this, I was 13 in 1981. The music on the radio was lack of a better word "Lame" This song had balls, everytime it came on the radio, i cranked it.

  • Saw these guys just out of the Navy 83 in Indialantic Florida in place call Mr Tease. What a freakin great show they put on and a time I never forget! This song cannot be played to often or too loud.....try it and you'll see what I mean...

  • i cant ever remember hearing anything done by these guys that wasnt top quality

  • If you want to check out a very early Donnie Iris hit song check out the Rapper by The Jaggerz. Donnie Iris wrote and sung this 1970 hit. Nothing like what he put out 10 years later but a great song to roller skate to in 1970.

  • give me a thumbs up if you think this 30 year old song blows Modern music out of the water.

  • @viksox13

I'm with ya, bruddah...the new "alternative" is the old mainstream. 2011 is SHITE!!

  • @viksox13 Hell yeah I do. Today's music can't hold a candle to this period!

  • @viksox13

Blows it away, love how the backing vocals are done in this song!

  • @viksox13 Iris is definitely an underrated songwriter/singer/musician. Guy knows how to write hooks.

  • @viksox13 Hell yeah, this is one of the best rock an droll songs ever! :)

  • This song makes such a profound statment. I've been rockin' out to this since the summer of 1982. Here's the "Cliff's Notes" :

    Professors & Teachers : NO

    Preachers: NO

    Politicians: HELL NO

    Superstitions: NO

    Mother Nauter: NO

Paycheck: ..."we are making temporary cutbacks in the department." (NO)

DR: "I'm sending you to a specialist", ( NO and double NO )

    Lawyer: "I'm sorry, he's in a meeting. can I take a message?" ( NO ! )

Study your notes, there WILL be a test on this. Class dismissed.

  • early mtv heavily played a live version of LILAR.

  • @1251wire

    I remember that!

I wonder if that can be found on YouTube...

  • Donnie Iris is the Prince Of Pittsburgh. He is an underrated rocker from an underrated city. He should have become huge.

  • @Jefgg he got played alot in Cleveland WMMS, always wondered if he was local or national, I thought Michael Stanley was huge but no one outside of Cleveland it seems knew him. Thanks to the poster of these songs.

  • Donnie Iris is my 2nd cousin.

  • This song should be a staple on the classic rock stations just like "Ah Leah" is

  • Do you have My Girl by Donnie Iris? No one seems to remember this song and it is one of my faves! Thanks

  • I forgot DI's other single that got radio play. Thanks for this!

  • I always thought that Donnie was a solo artist, not a band. He hit #37 in Billboard, 2-20-82. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week!

  • A very underrated song. Still rocks after all these years.

  • MASTERPIECE

  • Donnie Iris Rocks! Miss you local bar gigs!.. from J-town to the Burgh!

  • yinz wanna go dahn ta pants n at in worshingtin n git some hoagies n pop?

welcome ta picksburgh where our eggs are dippy and our sidewalks slippy. Jagoff.

  • i watched these guys last night at the indains game with M stanly

  • Just got back from seeing the Tribe punish the Pirates with Michael Stanley & Donnie Iris performing after the game! GO TRIBE!

  • I think the first time I saw DI I was 12-13, HBO use to play live concerts, and I saw him on there. I remember his concert had an extended middle drum section to this song....as one would guess. Needless to say due to the energy of the concert and the songs I became a fan.

  • Donnie Iris = King Cool

  • U CAN RELY ON DONNIE IRIS to bring u kick ass rock n roll.

  • this video and track where all the rage some years ago.

  • Comment removed

  • Donnie Iris for President.

  • Donnie still makes music. If you like this check out a song he did a couple years back called "Little Black Dress". AWESOME song and Donnie is AWESOME! Saw him live 2 years ago at Johnstown's THunder in the Valley and at the age of 66 his voice was perfect and hasn't changed a bit. He can still rock scream with the best of em!

Donnie Iris the pride of 'da Burgh!

  • Great song, I'm surprised this song doesn't get any airplay yet I still hear "Ah Leah" on the radio almost all of the time

  • THE PREPAID on GOT MILK!

  • big hit here in York ,Pa. on 98 wycr

  • Bill Nye, or Napolian Dynamite?

  • the only 2 good things to ever come out of pittsburgh were donnie iris and my aunt barb, lol. actually i wonder if donnie iris, buddy holly and elvis costello are all somehow related. wonderful song and post.

  • @mistermattmoose You forgot Billy Squier.

  • @legoman674 i had always heard billy was from boston.........like iris, he too was underrated.......sorry!

  • @mistermattmoose It's truly a shame. They all were (and are) underrated.

  • @mistermattmoose Uhmmmm how about Gene Kelly, Lena Horne, Billy Ecstein (spelling) Jeff Goldblum, Francis Dormand (academy award winning actress) ...........actually those are just a few samples of the talent that come out of Pittsburgh and it's suburbs. I love Donnie myself, saw him live, met him and got a pic with him. He's about the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet and Pittsburgh loves him! But he's not the only talent to come out of this area. Obviously I am from PA, lol.

  • @darsdoodles Correction on a typo. It should read Francis McDormand, not Francis Dormand. sorry.

  • @darsdoodles it was just a joke geez,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,actually aunt barb lived in the same neighborhood as joe namath and she's about 10 years older, she used to baby sit him. i think it was the beaver hills area or something like that.

  • LOVE CAN ROCK YOU

    NEVER STOP YOU

    WON'T YOU SUCK MY ---- ?

  • I agree BeatleStone! This song has always been underrated!

  • BILL NYE CAN ROCK!

  • Donnie Iris is my 2nd cousin

  • @BeatleStone I remember this!

  • I learned how to play air guitar with this song.

  • I growed up about 25 M NW of the Burgh. Saw King Cool about 5 times. Awesome.

  • Here is another one from the good old days!!!!

  • no problem!

  • @DocRoc44 Oh man, I forgot all about this song........its been years.

  • This song helped redeem 80's music. Thanks for posting.

  • Love this song! Always have. 'Ah Leah' was fantastic also. I remember him playin' that funky music with Wild Cherry. He wrote the 70's song 'The Rapper' by the Jaggerz. The man's just got da funk. Love it.

  • NOTHING SAYS BURGH LIKE DONNY, THE CLARKS, PRAMANTI BROS AND OF COURSE THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS AND PENS!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Everbody remembers Ah! Leah! but not so much on this one. But this is totally awesome too!

  • @BeatleStone I remember Ah Leah but I also remember The Rapper

  • Donnie Iris speaks truth, my wife is my rock... 6th grade was such a bleak time but this helped...

  • @stjames888

    your wife is your rock?

    dude your corny

  • @SNOOOOOO8 - you show how truly pathetic you are by using old ass busted words like corny! Do you mean to tell me you spend your time trolling the comments section looking to flame people you dont even know... sad... you are one sad individual!!! when was the last time you got laid? paying for it dosen't count either kid...

  • @stjames888 I'm glad your wife is your rock, but IMO you're wrong when you say that paying for it doesn't count. Pretty much every guy pays for it one way or another. Either they pay for it up front, or they pay for it later financially or emotionally or some other way. They might not even be aware that they're paying. But sooner or later, we all pay! Glad you have a good marriage, though.

  • @stjames888 Glad you have a great marriage and that your wife is your rock, but IMO you're wrong when you say that paying for it doesn't count. Sooner or later, every guy pays for it. Either financially or emotionally or some other way. But one way or another, whether it's for love or just plain old sex, everybody pays!

  • @stjames888

    not pussy whipped like you...

    I wear the pants...

don't like weak men controlled by their wives

  • Donnie Iris is from my home city (Pittsburgh)

  • @bender1958 No, YOU'RE from Donnie Iris' home city of Pittsburgh.
