Good point Bob. My children "discovered" the dinosaur verses when they were younger. As the science of genetics grows, the theory of evolution shrinks. Most universities I visit have stopped requiring evolutionary classes because the science of molecular genetics pushes the theory of evolution into a "fantasy state" as one student commented while trying to reconcile his science classes with his personal belief that evolution was a fact.
Also...just as a side thought while I'm ranting...with a global flood, one aspect of "all life" getting stuffed on the ark is an issue. Do you happen to know what happens to...say..a pine tree or corn when it is exposed to sea water. It dies. "every living thing" as the bible states...don't think so. The animals are one thing...but a sycamore tree migrating to Noah's boat or the 13000 species of one genus of spider. When it doesn't make sense...something is wrong. And you know it.
@SmokeCho7 The bible says it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, were i live, it doesn't rain salt water. and no if you looked in the bible when they says 2 of every species, a male and a female, its not directly stating species, it actually means phylum or family, for example 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 monkeys, etc and SCIENTIST have proven 2 of every family could have fit. When it doesn't make sense go check the facts, read it in the bible. Genesis chapter 6 if you want to go read up on it.
@bluespy95 70% of the worlds water...is salt water. what happens (as a chemical engineer and AP student you may know this) when "world' flooding occurs...your gonna get the oceans mixed it with the fresh stuff...either way things die. I'll let you do the math on how we ended up with different species then. by the way...which dogs were those again...so I have a reference to start from?
If you don't believe in evolution...all you have to do is look at the influenza virus...today's H1N1 virus is an adaptation of the same 1918 virus. Oh and agriculture e.g. the fight for an effective pesticide...oh and the fact that penicillin doesn't work on much anymore...and...really...need I go on? It is happening before your very eyes. OR...benevolent loving gods are creating viruses that kill horribly even today...could be...either way NOT a god I want to worship.
@SmokeCho7 those are ADAPTATIONS. they are still the same SPECIES they are just developing better traits for transmission. remember that thing in science class? kingdom phylum class order family genus species? well your adaptions are occuring within one particular species, evolution is theorized that i can go from a plant to an animal with billions of protein made of DNA and RNA, all because of genetic re-incodment that mistakenly made another organism?
@bluespy95 funny...sounds like you just described what evolution is. Thank you for that...you validated my point. evolution is adaptation...survival of the fittest...have you even read Darwin?
@SmokeCho7 sorry i have so many post i am not certain which one you are referring to. but adaptation is possible as i have stated, but a fish turning into a walking animal can not happen, a tree turning into a carnivore / herbivore can not happen, those would be kingdom/phylum changes, i state that species changes are possible.
@bluespy95 I will tell you that you have approached this discussion, and the numerable posts admirably. Thank you for the pleasant discussion so rare these days when talking about this. I can wish you the best in proving your position...not going to convince everyone...but questioning everything never hurt.
@SmokeCho7 I am always delighted t o have a debate just ask my teachers :D. I try to use logic and facts in my debate, i don't want to blow off the handle as so many people do. and its impossible to changed everyone's mind, but if i change jsut one persons mind, make one person believe in god and become a christian, it was worth all the effort.
@bluespy95 Consider this point. what is happening in this particular post is not about extraneous ideology. belief in gods is actually irrelevant to the discussion. Take the facts that you have, one way or the other, and prove them to yourself. Understand what a fact is first. I simply say this because I hear myself 30 years ago in your words. I enjoyed AWANA too, but when it came time to think...rather than to accept blindly what I was told, I had to change
@bluespy95 You are a fuckwad idiot...Christ would slap uour ass if He were here...He was asn aceepting, loving man and also God at the same time...CraCKPOTS LIKE YOU AND THIS ASSHOLE NEED TO LEARN ABOUT TGHE LEAST OF CHRIT'S AND LEARN TO LOVE U DIPSHIT
@djk28161 alright all the caps and failed grammar obstructed my reading of this post, i am not here to have a cursing match, feel free to put in some valuable comment but this "crackpot" as you call him is the head paster of a church of over 20k people ( he started the church), he has read the entire bible many times he has even done long sermons working his way from genesis to revolution. btw whats "the least of chrits" and i know how to love, how about you learn to relax.
@bluespy95 Look who is talking I capitalized to emphasize what an asshole you are....Learn to spell bozo...It is Pastor ....not paster...U idiot....Furthermore...Crackpot....CAPITALIZE BIBLE........U dipshit...That is God's word...U uneduacted asswipe
@djk28161 lol go take some more of your magic chill pills, and i turned a crack house into low income housing for 2 homeless veterans, i am far from rich. i am actually a lot more educated then you if you read my other post, you my friend has simply made a completed jerk out of your self with you 4 post that are a complete waste of pixels.
@bluespy95 Really dipshit??? How many homeless drug addicts have you helped today or this week??? I would guess zero cuz U "Christians" R too good for such people....Christ would slap assholes like you appear, by your attitude and words, to be
@bluespy95 Allow me to speculate....dipshit....U R white middle to upper class spoiled uneducated.....The kind Christ chastized....oops an ignorant crackpot like u likely does not know what such word means......Read up on the history of Evangelical "Christianity" get educated and you may see things differently BTW asswipe Christ was a Jew .....FACT
@djk28161 BTW Jesus created Christianity he was the first christian, and Jews generally don't acknowledge the new testament, anything else about my religion and others that you would care to teach me?
@tennisfreak2495 in evolution animals change slowly over time, well the In-between creatures cannot survive, how was a woodpecker formed, they have harder skull, a longer pointer beak, and a special tissue that absorbs impact that cant all happen at once but inbetweens cant survive the woodpecking
@tennisfreak2495 maybe you need to go back to school I have taken AP physics AP chem and Ap biology i am a science major i believe ADAPTATION is possible, like how if i put glasses on you that made you see upside down in 8 days your body would adjust but your offspring wouldn't be born able to see upside down. explain to me this,
I wish everyone would open their eyes and realize that there is a god that created all things and that he loves you. If everything started from a big bang, then who created the things that started the big bang? If it all started from one cell/organism, who created that?
@Amaremelo well one could also ask who created god? scientists have all those questions as well, cuz we dont know. but admitting to yourself that you don't know is the first step of knowing. claiming to know when you have no evidence, helps no one. not knowing, drives humanity to go find out, to learn, to experience, to better understand the universe.
@heroinpatrick Where is the end of space? When you got that, then you are well on your way to understanding that what you know can fit on a stamp with a crayon compaired to the all knowing God that made you.You can bow now(repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ), OR you can wait til just after your lastbreath of air to bow, which will go very, very badly.I don't need to know everything about electricity to use it.You don't need to know everything to recognize the need 4 the Savior!
@brentjones483 well someone had to know everything about electricity to use it. and the more and more we understand the universe we understand it has flaws, its inefficient, and could be designed better. so why would an omnipotent being create a flawed universe? why would he create a world for a land species but have it covered in 70% salt water? why would he create a scientific and mathematical universe, but condemn it?
@heroinpatrick well if something had to create the universe, then something had to create that, and so on and so forth, so the logical explination, God exist outside of space and time,
@bluespy95 funny...not only does go exist outside space and time...so does the moment of the Big Bang that you are attempting to infinitely reduce this argument to. At the moment of the Big Bang, particle physics indicates that time and space essentially became nonexistent...by your logic I could also ask...well then "who created gods" but then we already know that man did that.
Many people are correct. These many people happen to be your founding fathers, lawyers, surgeons, philosophers, etcetera. The bible boils down to rumors and straight-up lies.
@fleshy2000 he provided scripture and verse. look the the creature he is referring to it actually exist who would have thought, go to your local muesem maybe you can see one
wow...God of the gaps argument. denial of fossil records...dismissing the "inundation of information" available etc.. no evidence at all for a global flood...ever. obviously there is not much more that would be able to persuade the author of this post that there is an answer to accept that requires a serious look at the false teachings of scriptures. the Bible, just can't stand up to science.
@SmokeCho7 The bible discovered the item over 4,000 years ago, science just cant keep up with the bible. look at the silt player that circumnavigates the earth, there was a global flood.
@bluespy95 absolutely right...science can't keep up with the bible's fiction...that is for sure. actually take the time to look at the silt layers that aren't consistent with global flood of any sort. Read a science book for a change and you will find some very notable discrepancies in what the bible is stating...and what is reality. I used to believe this stuff until I applied reason to what I was reading, then the bible's statements simply fell apart. its now only a book of myth
@SmokeCho7 your comment is a very closed minded statement i have nothing to disprove. I am a science major, i am studing to be a chemical enginer, i have already taken AP chemistry AP Biology and AP physics as well as AP enviromental (AP is advanced placement, high level college classes). If you actually read the bible and properly understand what is is saying you will understand it is complete truth.
@bluespy95 I'm thrilled that you are doing well in school. I was a Christian for 25 years so I would be careful of who you accuse of ignorance on your topic. Not only is the bible something I'm very familiar with...each of the major scriptures are in my library. When you have 2 Masters degrees in science...you may change your mind as I have.
@SmokeCho7 You still have failed to give me credible proof of evolution, you have simply rejected my statements that evolution isn't possible. And i am a member of AWANA, i study bible versus at church every Wednesday night, i have for that past 12 years (granted i am not 25 years old yet).
What a wrong argumentation : at the heart of all science there's an undecidable axiom, and yet it doesn't mean that science doesn't work (otherwise he should speak in a cave with a candle for light).
Science work with evidence, probability, and as we gather for evidence, more and more questions are raised...
This guy could be talking about a doctor rather than an evolutionist, use the same arguments and prove him wrong.
But you know what? I prefer listening to my doctor.
there are so many problems with the idea of a worldwide flood. additionally, i'm not really sure why christians feel the need to deny science, but whatever
@lavendarfleur How can I answer your objection that you removed self incriminating posts when you blocked me?This is exactly what you posted on my page before you blocked me "Here ya go since MarsHIll apparently cant accept any relevant commentary on their videos and blocked meWAY CHRISTIAN OF THEM"Kinda hypocritical dont you think? Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself;for you who judge practice the same things
@bigbadwolff1 You are a disgusting lying sack., I didnt remove any posts.
"Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself;for you who judge practice the same things"
You clearly need to worry about yourself, not what others are doing. Liar
@bigbadwolff1 Oh and I know how disgusting creeps like you have to have the last word, so you'll get that. I know you will never see the whole point of my posts on that video, because people like you are so incredibly blind to facts. I hope they fail and maybe they will go to a state that actually needs bible teaching churches instead of coming to OC for money. Shame on them, and most of all shame on you for being such a flagrant liar. Good luck. You'll need it.
@lavendarfleur No "luck" needed thats witchcraft. Only Gods providence is needed by me. (stay away from luck) Would Pastor Bob approve of XXX chrurch, gaychristian or nooma? Idont think ,so get your priorities straight lady. You are way off, examine yourself or have a husband take his role in.your house
@lavendarfleur When you stated"DOES CALVARY TEACH THE BIBLE OR NOT. Here let me help you. Yes they do, thus I have made my point in that there are a multitude of churches in orange county that teach the bible and we dont need another. Get it now? if not, its not my problem" If Calvary is Biblical, how does that validate your point that another Church isnt needed? That is quite a leap. illogical reasoning, which goes along with your dihonesty about the posts and blocking. typical of yourtype
@bigbadwolff1 I blocked you because you are a troll not to mention stupid.
Illogical reasoning when someone says that OC "needs jesus" when there are literally hundreds of bible teaching churches in OC, if not thousands? I suspect he just isnt making enough money where he is at now and again there are SCORES of other places that have no bible teaching churches AT ALL. Will you "get it" this time? I doubt it. Youre dumb. Dumb people dodge questions and hate facts.
@bigbadwolff1 youre also the typical jerkoff christian that has to have the last word so i fully expect you to respond with a post that adds absolutely nothing to the conversation other than it gives you the last word.
@lavendarfleur and your also the kind of athiest that makes cruid assumptions and post things only to argue, your post about there being no flood proves absolutely nothing, you lacked sufficient evidence, all you did was insult Christians, and then attempt to justify your statement, for the bible says "you see the thorn in my eye, but i see the plank in yours, you see what i do wrong, but i see what you do wrong.
@lavendarfleur alright well paleontologist have proven that there was one, in the earths crust the earth shows signs of flooding, there are river rocks in places that there shouldn't be, this layer of river rocks circumnavigated the globe, the layer of silt from the flood is also very apparent, many cultures admit to a flood not just Christians, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, myans, civilizations around the world talk about a flood, all around the same time.
"Nine-tenths of the talk of evolutionists is sheer nonsense, not founded on observation and wholly unsupported by facts. This museum is full of proofs of the utter falsity of their views. In all this great museum, there is not a particle of evidence of the transmutation of species." (Dr. Etheridge, Paleontologist of the British Museum)
"I have come to the conclusion that Darwinism is not a testable scientific theory, but a metaphysical research programme... (Dr. Karl Popper, German-born philosopher of science, called by Nobel Prize-winner Peter Medawar, "incomparably the greatest philosopher of science who has ever lived.")
"The fossil record with its abrupt transitions offers no support for gradual change..." (Dr. Stephen Jay Gould, famous Harvard Professor of Paleontology)
@BostinJim don't forget to get a flu shot...the virus evolved since last year...so it's ineffective this year. I can cut and paste too...but there is no need when we see evolution in front of us. H1N1 1918...it's the father of the virus that just hit Mexico and California last year...just to clarify so you didn't need to go to a museum to see evolution/mutation and not "get it".
"To postulate that the development and survival of the fittest is entirely a consequence of chance mutations seems to me a hypothesis based on no evidence and irreconcilable with the facts. These classical evolutionary theories are a gross over-simplification of an immensely complex and intricate mass of facts, and it amazes me that they are swallowed so uncritically and readily, and for such a long time, by so many scientists without murmur of protest." (Sir Ernest Chain, Nobel Prize winner)
"Evolution is a theory universally accepted, not because it can be proved to be true, but because the only alternative, 'special creation,' is clearly impossible." (D.M.S. Watson, Professor of Zoology, London University)
@BostinJim Yes anyone can make a simple quote, founding fathers the most atheist of all the founding fathers ADMITTED that there must be some form of divine creation.
@djk28161 please provide facts, it appears to me that every single comment i have read so far has just been direct insults to his intelligence level, if you have a constructive comment please provide it, don't just go around cursing people out that you don't know.
In the 21st century, genetics will begin to play a major part in the lives of people around the world. Genetic testing will become cheap, easy and one will be able to read one's full genome in the doctor's office. If Americans don't understand biology, genetics and evolution, there's no way they can make intelligent desicions about genetic testing. To everyone here, you don't have to be an atheist to accept evolution, you can be a Christian too. Look at Francis Collins.
@karozans The data from the Human Genome Project supported evolutionary theory in great detail. Things like psuedogenes, human chromosome 2, ERVs, and the like, make sense only in an evolutionary context. If evolutionary theory didn't exist, scientists wouldn't be able to understand these features of the human genome and other genomes.
@ClamCrunchy Really??? Then why does Richard Dawkins say that the fossil record doesn't prove evolution. Can you please tell me which scientific experiment proved evolution is a fact?
@ClamCrunchy really, Charles Darwin (founder of evolution in-case you didn't know) refuted evolution on his death bed, don't believe me, do your own research, he claimed all of his years of research were wasted and that evolution on large scale was impossible.
@bluespy95 You're refering to the Lady Hope story, which was fabricated after Darwin's death. Even if it's true, it's not evidence against evolution. The human genome project provided ample evidence in favor of evolution and human common ancestry with other animals.
@ClamCrunchy the human genome project gave proof for adaption, in my AP psychology class we revived an exeriment were a man was given glasses, that made everything upside down, for 8 days he was very disoriented, his brain was struggling to cope,, but after 8 days he was able to do everything he could do before.then they changed it, one eye upside 1 eye right side up, after a few days his body adapted, if he had children that doesn't mean they would see upside down.
@ClamCrunchy also have you ever studied dominent to recessive traits? for example, one cat has long hair 1 cat has short hair, if long hair is dominant the cat can have XX or Xx, the short hair cat must have xx. well if an animal is born with a genetic flaw and reproduces, its new genes have to be recessive which is why it is impossible for those genes to be passed on.
@ClamCrunchy i am color deficient (i have trouble seeing red and green) i acquired that trait through my mom. mens chromosomes are XY womens are XX, color defiance is on the X gen, so my mom has the gene for it but does not have any problems with color. why is that? its a recessive trait. but because i only have 1 X and its on my only X, even though its recessive it is the normal for my genes. my mom has 2 X's its only on 1 X. i had a 50% chance of receiving the trait.
@ClamCrunchy I applaud your aptitude to research arguments. Yes..the Lady Hope story is an urban legend by nearly all accounts. 100% agree that it has no bearing on evolution as a theory. Tested and still standing. Kudos to you.
The systematic study of humans and their environment based on the deductions and inferences which can be made, and the general laws which can be formulated, from reproducible observations and measurements of events and parameters within the universe.
Can someone please show me the observable effects of Macro-Evolution? Can they show me the measurement of facts that can be backed up by the fossil regard that species crossed genomes? If Evolution as the Theory Darwin Presented was true, there would be observable evidence in the fossil record, yet more than 100 years later science is still seeking the facts to support even an underlying thought of evolution. The theory is dead and was never much of one.

If everything was created at once they would be buried together. THEY ARE NOT. YOU DONT FIND DINOS WITH HUMANS. EVERYTHING IS AN IN BETWEENER. You can live a fairy tale or you can live the truth. Choice is yours my friend. Open your damn eyes.
"'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.' Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?"
The reasons the layers are "scattered" is because the Earth is not uniform with climatic and physical erosion conditions. In some places strata will be eroded away exposing older material at the surface. In others, it will be less eroded, displaying more recent material at the surface. Sometimes layers in between are eroded and therefore missing, but can be correlated with nearby strata by mineral and fossil content. What he is talking about is macroevolution and is ignoring the microevolution.
Bob coy has "problems with" 140 million years? I think Bob Coy has a problem understanding what science is and how science is doen. Thus, Coy, has a problem with science. But he probably will accept science in every single area ACEPT when it comes to this and all hell breaks lose. Very typical....I've seen many like him and they're all the same...Denialists....Read Michael Spector's new book "Denialism".
"Personally I think you have a problem with your spelling... " You think? I either do or I don't which is it? Looking over my posts, there are some spelling errors, probably because I'm not paying any attention to it. Why does this matter and what does it have to do with this video?
@IntelEngineer1 actually no he knows a lot about science he researches both sides of things before getting into a argument, certain private schools say catholic schools, they require you study other religions, they study the bible the Jewish bible Muslim culture, the list goes on and on, by the time they are done most of them know more about your culture than you do. your statement has no evidence just mud slinging and recommending a book i can write a book and write nothing true
Great clip pastor Bob, I am a Creationist. Evolutionists like to say evolution is a fact of science, but the scientific method is to: test, repeat, and observe. We have never observed macro-evolution take place, and we sure can't test or repeat it so evolution is not a science it takes faith . You should check out my youtube channel if you get a chance I do alot of creationist stuff. God bless you and keep you!
What did broccoli evolve from? And I thought flu vaccines were scientifically engineered... Can you tell me what's your favorite example of macro-evolution in nature--outside of the science lab?
For flu vaccines to be ready in time, the Theory of Evolution is used to predict how the flu virus will Evolve, then a weakened version of that Predicted Evolved flu virus is cultivated in a lab and injected into people, so when the full-strength version infects them, their immune system has already Evolved antibodies to fight the Evolved flu.
Cabbage is my favorite example of "macro-evolution" because it and its direct ancestor and decedents are all extant.
we see different varieties of Brassica, but Brassica is still what it is. Marcoevolution is a large scale change. Creationists agree that particles change over time, but not into people. The Bible says that planets and animals will produce after its own kind we see that will we see that with the different varieties of Brassica, different dog breeds etc. But Brassica won't change into anything new, and dogs will always be dogs. No new information is added. Also viruses are not alive.
We see different varieties of Brassica because Brassica is a GENUS. There can be innumerable SPECIES in the same GENUS.
"Macroevolution" is a the development of a new SPECIES (a.k.a. "speciation"). Broccoli is not the same SPECIES as cabbage, but we know that broccoli was grown from cabbage, just as we know cabbage was grown from mustard. They are all of the GENUS Brassica, but because of "large scale changes", they are what they are today.
pur3o3end is correct, viruses are not living. They require a living host, they cannot divide and multiply on their own. And when they jump from one host to another, they mutate, not "evolve".
pur3o3end never said viruses were not living. You are attributing arguments to him that he did not make (I've found creationists have a tendency to do that and I still don't know why). Besides that, the point is irrelevant.
Mutation is part of evolution. Mutation is the initial change (such as one that made a flu virus drug resistant). Evolution is when that mutation is spread throughout a population (such as when that flu virus infects a host and produces more of itself).
I apologize for paraphrasing. I guess I thought that "alive" and "living" were synonymous. Oh, wait...they are. I was not attributing an argument. I was just re-stating the facts. I actually pulled that from my biology and A & P books.
Congratulations on trying to school me about evolution but it's funny, every professor with a PhD that I've ever had, although required to teach it, did not themselves believe the Theory of Evolution. There just aren't enough facts to support it.
That being said, I do believe in evolution... within the species. It is necessary for survival. However, to believe that human beings evolved from apes is just... absurd.
- That a fact. Then I'm sure you won't mind defining what you think a "species" is.
"to believe that human beings evolved from apes is just... absurd"
- Really? Then please tell me how humans do not fit into the taxonomic definition of "ape" (for the answer, you will have to know the taxonomic definition of "ape"). Bonus points if you can name the man who first classified humans as apes (hint: He was an Evangelical Christian).
I used the term "species" broadly. I know exactly what a specific epithet is. Maybe I should have used the term genus? I'm sure you already know there are several different "species" of many organisms. (Bacteria, plants, frogs, insects, etc.) I got an A in biology but truthfully, it bored the crap out of me. A&P was much more interesting. You have your beliefs and I have mine. I promise you, you won't be able to alter mine.
I find it amusing when someone claimes some sort of expertise, while demonstrating a lack of it.
The terms "species" and "genus" are not interchangable.
A "species" is made up of "organisms" and never the other way around.
I couldn't care less about your beliefs, or whatever education you claim to have had. But in true creationist style, you've managed to say a lot (most of it was wrong or irrelevant) without answering any questions, and making various claims you cannot support.
I claimed no expertise whatsoever. It's apparent that your only goal here is to attempt to insult me, which only makes me feel sorry for you. I usually trust my own feelings on things, and don't believe everything I read in books(except for one book). I'm not going to apologize for being a think-for-yourselfer.
Getting an A makes me an expert? Cool! And I just thought it meant I had good study habits. I also got an A in all my maths and A&P...can I do your taxes and perform brain surgery on you?
Note that I said "attempt" to insult. My father used to tell me the more you step in crap, the more it stinks. So good day, Sir...or Ma'am.
I said you claimed some sort of expertese. I never said you possessed any. The only reason I can see that you would even mention your biology grade would be an attempt to establish yourself as knowledgable in the field. Unfortunately for you, everything else you have said regarding that field has shown otherwise.
And again, if you are insulted by corrections to your errors, that is your problem, not mine.
@Atriviality virus/germ cells are not living, i learned that in 7th grade.... they do not eat nor drink, they do not need sunlight to survive, they can lie dormant for decades and even century's before reactivating, they are a single celled object they have no brain, no thought process.
- You do realise I was pointing out that daniellexylena was making claims with no evidence. Yes virus/germ cells are not alive because they don't have a metabolism. Sunlight, brains and thought are not required to be alive.
@Atriviality Viruses do have all of the characteristics of living things. They consist of a protein coat which contains either DNA or RNA. They are not made of cells. They have no cellular structures. They do not require nutrients. They do not have metabolism. They do not grow or develop. They do not reproduce on their own.
"Viruses do have all of the characteristics of living things."
- No they don't, and you even said so (although you made a few mistakes). They can maintain themselves, adapt, respond to stimuli, and reproduce. They don't have a cellular structure, metabolism, and don't grow.
@Atriviality They must high-jack a living cell, inject it's genetic material, which then takes over the host cell which then becomes a virus factory. Eventually the cell becomes so full of replicated viruses that they burst, releasing the viruses so they can go on to attack other cells.
@Atriviality Its apparent you only understand the basics behind evolution. that is adaptation which is different. when you get sick, the germs are entering your cells and taking over the Endoplasmic ret. and forcing it to create more virus cells instead of proteins. until the cell is ready to burst, well if you inject the flu into chickens over and over, the virus started to have more DNA from the chickens thats adaptation not evolution. and germs aren't living organisms. look it up
- "There are two major mechanisms that drive evolution. First is natural selection. Individuals with advantageous traits are more likely to reproduce successfully, passing these traits to the next generation. This kind of evolution driven by natural selection is called ADAPTIVE EVOLUTION." 'Evolution', Biology Online Dictionary
@Atriviality yes but look at the gaps I prefer woodpeckers. They have many adaptations, a harder pointed bill, special tissue that absorbs impact, a harder and thicker skull, as well as a different method of encasing the brain. Well you thing that 1 bird was born as a mistake with all of those different characteristics? its physically impossible for a bird to live in-between the stage of a normal bird, and a woodpecker and survive but is equally imposible to change that much at once
1, things in the middle CANNOT exist. You can not have a wood pecker with only a harder skull or only a more narrow pointed bill, or only special impact absorbing tissue, and because nothing can survive between normal bird, and wood pecker, how do we have wood peckers? and it is impossible for 1 or 2 genetic problems in the DNA can cause the bird to acquire all those changes at once.
What is it about GRADUAL change over SUCCESSIVE GENERATIONS do you not understand? This isn't like X-Men where 1 bird is miraculously born with a super hard skull, but rather a POPULATION of birds GRADUALLY improving successful traits over GENERATIONS. Antillean Piculet is in the woodpecker family, but doesn't have some of the traits of other woodpeckers because it doesn't hammer into wood.
@Atriviality yes, i am referring the the ones that actually do. let me bring out my clue stick cause now your being ignorent, my point is things in the middle cannot and do not exist, and that a gradual change still wouldn't be possible. even gradual chance a wood pecker cant survive.
"my point is things in the middle cannot and do not exist, and that a gradual change still wouldn't be possible. even gradual chance a wood pecker cant survive."
- (clue stick ready) The Antillean Piculet (nesoctites micromegas) doesn't have a lot of traits that all other woodpeckers do (it has a weaker beak, a softer tail, can't jackhammer into wood, etc) because it branched off from the rest of them about 8 million years ago, and it survives just fine.
@Atriviality the only similiarties it has with woodpecker is a similar body design, and a pointed bill so it can reach into tight spaces and eat insects.
"the only similiarties it has with woodpecker is a similar body design, and a pointed bill so it can reach into tight spaces and eat insects."
- So what do you think it is? A duck? A stork perhaps? Do you think it's a pidgeon?
Try reading 'Molecular phylogeny and biogeographic history of the piculets' where they go into detail on the genetic history of this particular type of woodpecker.

SmokeCho7 1 month ago
@SmokeCho7 The bible says it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, were i live, it doesn't rain salt water. and no if you looked in the bible when they says 2 of every species, a male and a female, its not directly stating species, it actually means phylum or family, for example 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 monkeys, etc and SCIENTIST have proven 2 of every family could have fit. When it doesn't make sense go check the facts, read it in the bible. Genesis chapter 6 if you want to go read up on it.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95 70% of the worlds water...is salt water. what happens (as a chemical engineer and AP student you may know this) when "world' flooding occurs...your gonna get the oceans mixed it with the fresh stuff...either way things die. I'll let you do the math on how we ended up with different species then. by the way...which dogs were those again...so I have a reference to start from?
SmokeCho7 1 month ago
@SmokeCho7 Even as there are over 400 dog breeds all belonging to one species (Canis familiaris), so many species can belong to one kind.

SmokeCho7 1 month ago
@SmokeCho7 those are ADAPTATIONS. they are still the same SPECIES they are just developing better traits for transmission. remember that thing in science class? kingdom phylum class order family genus species? well your adaptions are occuring within one particular species, evolution is theorized that i can go from a plant to an animal with billions of protein made of DNA and RNA, all because of genetic re-incodment that mistakenly made another organism?
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95 funny...sounds like you just described what evolution is. Thank you for that...you validated my point. evolution is adaptation...survival of the fittest...have you even read Darwin?
SmokeCho7 1 month ago
@SmokeCho7 sorry i have so many post i am not certain which one you are referring to. but adaptation is possible as i have stated, but a fish turning into a walking animal can not happen, a tree turning into a carnivore / herbivore can not happen, those would be kingdom/phylum changes, i state that species changes are possible.

@bluespy95 I will tell you that you have approached this discussion, and the numerable posts admirably. Thank you for the pleasant discussion so rare these days when talking about this. @SmokeCho7 I am always delighted t o have a debate just ask my teachers :D.

Amaremelo 6 months ago
@Amaremelo well one could also ask who created god? scientists have all those questions as well, cuz we dont know. but admitting to yourself that you don't know is the first step of knowing. claiming to know when you have no evidence, helps no one. not knowing, drives humanity to go find out, to learn, to experience, to better understand the universe.
heroinpatrick 3 months ago
@heroinpatrick Where is the end of space? When you got that, then you are well on your way to understanding that what you know can fit on a stamp with a crayon compaired to the all knowing God that made you.You can bow now(repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ), OR you can wait til just after your lastbreath of air to bow, which will go very, very badly.I don't need to know everything about electricity to use it.You don't need to know everything to recognize the need 4 the Savior!
brentjones4831 1 month ago
@brentjones483 well someone had to know everything about electricity to use it. and the more and more we understand the universe we understand it has flaws, its inefficient, and could be designed better. so why would an omnipotent being create a flawed universe? why would he create a world for a land species but have it covered in 70% salt water? why would he create a scientific and mathematical universe, but condemn it?
heroinpatrick 1 month ago
@heroinpatrick well if something had to create the universe, then something had to create that, and so on and so forth, so the logical explination, God exist outside of space and time,
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95 funny...not only does go exist outside space and time...so does the moment of the Big Bang that you are attempting to infinitely reduce this argument to. At the moment of the Big Bang, particle physics indicates that time and space essentially became nonexistent...by your logic I could also ask...well then "who created gods" but then we already know that man did that.

SmokeCho7 7 months ago
@SmokeCho7 The bible discovered the item over 4,000 years ago, science just cant keep up with the bible. look at the silt player that circumnavigates the earth, there was a global flood.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95 absolutely right...science can't keep up with the bible's fiction...that is for sure. actually take the time to look at the silt layers that aren't consistent with global flood of any sort. Read a science book for a change and you will find some very notable discrepancies in what the bible is stating...and what is reality. I used to believe this stuff until I applied reason to what I was reading, then the bible's statements simply fell apart. its now only a book of myth

What a wrong argumentation : at the heart of all science there's an undecidable axiom, and yet it doesn't mean that science doesn't work (otherwise he should speak in a cave with a candle for light).

If evolutionary theory didn't exist, scientists wouldn't be able to understand these features of the human genome and other genomes.

karozans 1 year ago
@ClamCrunchy really, Charles Darwin (founder of evolution in-case you didn't know) refuted evolution on his death bed, don't believe me, do your own research, he claimed all of his years of research were wasted and that evolution on large scale was impossible.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95 You're refering to the Lady Hope story, which was fabricated after Darwin's death. Even if it's true, it's not evidence against evolution. The human genome project provided ample evidence in favor of evolution and human common ancestry with other animals.
ClamCrunchy 1 month ago
@ClamCrunchy the human genome project gave proof for adaption, in my AP psychology class we revived an exeriment were a man was given glasses, that made everything upside down, for 8 days he was very disoriented, his brain was struggling to cope,, but after 8 days he was able to do everything he could do before.then they changed it, one eye upside 1 eye right side up, after a few days his body adapted, if he had children that doesn't mean they would see upside down.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@ClamCrunchy also have you ever studied dominent to recessive traits? for example, one cat has long hair 1 cat has short hair, if long hair is dominant the cat can have XX or Xx, the short hair cat must have xx. well if an animal is born with a genetic flaw and reproduces, its new genes have to be recessive which is why it is impossible for those genes to be passed on.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@ClamCrunchy i am color deficient (i have trouble seeing red and green) i acquired that trait through my mom. mens chromosomes are XY womens are XX, color defiance is on the X gen, so my mom has the gene for it but does not have any problems with color. why is that? its a recessive trait. but because i only have 1 X and its on my only X, even though its recessive it is the normal for my genes. my mom has 2 X's its only on 1 X. i had a 50% chance of receiving the trait.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@ClamCrunchy I applaud your aptitude to research arguments. Yes..the Lady Hope story is an urban legend by nearly all accounts. 100% agree that it has no bearing on evolution as a theory. Tested and still standing. Kudos to you.

God bless you and keep you!
pur3o3end 2 years ago
Evolution IS a fact of science.
We HAVE observed "macro-evolution" (Ever seen broccoli? Do you know what it evolved from?).
We have repeated and predicted evolution multiple times (Ever had flu vaccine? Do you know how they make them?).
Evolution only takes variable reproductive success. No faith required.
Atriviality 2 years ago
What did broccoli evolve from? And I thought flu vaccines were scientifically engineered... Can you tell me what's your favorite example of macro-evolution in nature--outside of the science lab?
emils122 2 years ago
Broccoli evolved from cabbage.
Atriviality 2 years ago
we see different varieties of Brassica, but Brassica is still what it is. Also viruses are not alive.
pur3o3end 2 years ago
We see different varieties of Brassica because Brassica is a GENUS. There can be innumerable SPECIES in the same GENUS.
"Macroevolution" is a the development of a new SPECIES (a.k.a. "speciation"). Broccoli is not the same SPECIES as cabbage, but we know that broccoli was grown from cabbage, just as we know cabbage was grown from mustard. They are all of the GENUS Brassica, but because of "large scale changes", they are what they are today.
Define "kind", "information", & "alive" please.
Atriviality 2 years ago
pur3o3end is correct, viruses are not living. They require a living host, they cannot divide and multiply on their own. And when they jump from one host to another, they mutate, not "evolve".
daniellexylena 2 years ago
pur3o3end never said viruses were not living.

However, to believe that human beings evolved from apes is just... absurd.

"I do believe in evolution... within the species"

Atriviality 2 years ago
I claimed no expertise whatsoever. It's apparent that your only goal here is to attempt to insult me, which only makes me feel sorry for you. I usually trust my own feelings on things, and don't believe everything I read in books(except for one book). I'm not going to apologize for being a think-for-yourselfer.
I'll pray for you. =)

"I claimed no expertise whatsoever"
- "I got an A in biology"
"It's apparent that your only goal here is to attempt to insult me"
- My goal was to point out your errors. If you are insulted by that, that's your problem.
Atriviality 2 years ago
Getting an A makes me an expert? Cool! And I just thought it meant I had good study habits. I also got an A in all my maths and A&P...can I do your taxes and perform brain surgery on you?
Note that I said "attempt" to insult. My father used to tell me the more you step in crap, the more it stinks. So good day, Sir...or Ma'am.
daniellexylena 2 years ago
I said you claimed some sort of expertese. I never said you possessed any. The only reason I can see that you would even mention your biology grade would be an attempt to establish yourself as knowledgable in the field. Unfortunately for you, everything else you have said regarding that field has shown otherwise.
And again, if you are insulted by corrections to your errors, that is your problem, not mine.

You said "pur3o3end is correct, viruses are not living". I can find no instance of pur3o3end making such a claim. If he did, quote it.
"I actually pulled that from my biology and A & P books"
- What exactly is "that"?
Atriviality 2 years ago
@Atriviality virus/germ cells are not living, i learned that in 7th grade.... they do not eat nor drink, they do not need sunlight to survive, they can lie dormant for decades and even century's before reactivating, they are a single celled object they have no brain, no thought process.

@bluespy95
"virus/germ cells are not living"
- You do realise I was pointing out that daniellexylena was making claims with no evidence. Yes virus/germ cells are not alive because they don't have a metabolism. Sunlight, brains and thought are not required to be alive.
Atriviality 1 month ago
@Atriviality Viruses do have all of the characteristics of living things. They consist of a protein coat which contains either DNA or RNA. They are not made of cells. They have no cellular structures. They do not require nutrients. They do not have metabolism. They do not grow or develop. They do not reproduce on their own.

"Viruses do have all of the characteristics of living things."
- No they don't, and you even said so (although you made a few mistakes). They can maintain themselves, adapt, respond to stimuli, and reproduce. They don't have a cellular structure, metabolism, and don't grow.
Atriviality 1 month ago
@Atriviality They must high-jack a living cell, inject it's genetic material, which then takes over the host cell which then becomes a virus factory. Eventually the cell becomes so full of replicated viruses that they burst, releasing the viruses so they can go on to attack other cells.

Atriviality go into more detail then that.

Go into more detail then what?
Atriviality 2 years ago
@Atriviality Its apparent you only understand the basics behind evolution. that is adaptation which is different. when you get sick, the germs are entering your cells and taking over the Endoplasmic ret. and forcing it to create more virus cells instead of proteins. until the cell is ready to burst, well if you inject the flu into chickens over and over, the virus started to have more DNA from the chickens thats adaptation not evolution. and germs aren't living organisms. look it up
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95
"that is adaptation which is different."

Well you thing that 1 bird was born as a mistake with all of those different characteristics? its physically impossible for a bird to live in-between the stage of a normal bird, and a woodpecker and survive but is equally imposible to change that much at once
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95
"yes but look at the gaps"
- Sigh. Let me just get out my clue stick to beat you with.
1. Evolution is a GRADUAL change in the characteristics of a POPULATION over SUCCESSIVE GENERATIONS.
2. Cabbage don't one day sprout broccoli, but we know that around 200 years ago, cabbage farmers DEVELOPED broccoli over SUCCESSIVE harvests.
3. The Antillean Piculet is a woodpecker that doesn't hammer into wood like other woodpeckers, and is what you might call an "in-between stage".
Atriviality 1 month ago
@Atriviality yes but,
1, things in the middle CANNOT exist. You can not have a wood pecker with only a harder skull or only a more narrow pointed bill, or only special impact absorbing tissue, and because nothing can survive between normal bird, and wood pecker, how do we have wood peckers? and it is impossible for 1 or 2 genetic problems in the DNA can cause the bird to acquire all those changes at once.
bluespy95 1 month ago
@bluespy95
"things in the middle CANNOT exist."
- Let me just bring out the clue stick again.
Atriviality 1 month ago
@Atriviality yes, i am referring the the ones that actually do. let me bring out my clue stick cause now your being ignorent, my point is things in the middle cannot and do not exist, and that a gradual change still wouldn't be possible. even gradual chance a wood pecker cant survive.

@bluespy95
