  • really good job man (Y) also are playing with only one finger?

  • @alwedgawg Thank you. Yes, for the most part, I wanted to see what it might have felt like playing like James Jamerson – who supposedly played with one finger only (I heard that while watching "In the Shadow of Motown" if I am not mistaken. I did pluck with the thumb every now and then.

  • @nudebass So many bass players play with one finger like geddy lee and geezer butler, and my self. Great Job :D

  • @MoPower2112 Thanks! And — bingo! — *Geddy Lee* talked at length about switching to one finger playing style, in that 2-part interview on YouTube.

  • wow...gooood job....cool interpretation of the bassline....good job..5*

  • This bass line inspired the bass line that I wrote for *Direction* by The Clipbandits. You play great! Always loved this song & bass! :D

  • @vineyardedge thank you, I am honored! Yes, I saw you with the Clipbandits on the Tyra show - congrats and awesome! And love your comment about six string basses, how true! :D

  • Thanks man, I have been wanting to learn that bass line for a million years......didnt realize how easy it is........but OH SI TASTY

    THANKS

  • It kinda seemed like you were off beat..

  • Awesome! I don't care if it's 100% or not .... your rendition is superb! Many thanks also for the tip on the lesson by jbmaggs, very much appreciated..... I need all the help I can get ;o)

  • yea you should definitely practice more with two fingers so you dont wear yourself out or develop some sort of problem

  • someones old lefty??

  • I think you picked abit hard....

  • This is my favorite bass line of all time.

  • tre bien...I like the tone of your bass...

  • although its not 100% perfect its good. nice job man.

  • Thank you. Oh no, this isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I think I'll eventually redo it. I'll say this much: the mere process of forcing myself to sit and listen carefully and to try to be as true as I can be was an "re-education" to say the least. Off the bat, I'll certainly play the bridge one octave lower, pluck with two fingers, vary the chorus, and pay more attention to the finale.

  • dude...im 12 and im learning this bass line and i kinda find it difficult!! PLEASE HELP!!!

  • I would check out the "Ramble On" lesson by "jbmaggs"— I found him to be great bass player and teacher. That aside, keep at it. This bass line deserves all the time and effort you can spare! :)

  • merci beaucoup. Ca fait vraiment plaisir de voir que quelques rares américains parlent français et font l'effort de répondre dans notre langue !! A bientôt. Pat

  • very very good job ! Keep rockin

  • Thank you, will do! :) Greatly enjoyed your posts as well. Excellent! En plus, je dirais que vous avez un style trés *pur*. Chaque note *parle*. C'est ce qui compte le plus à la fin...(Yep... 12 years in a French school)
