If I want to rally around I choose manual, if I want to lay back and taste the comfort I take automatic. No one cares what are you driving here... we have even trucks with automatic gearbox, because it`s easier to drive and you dont have to spend time on changing gears your self.

its wasent the amount of snow it was how it hit. no one was ready for it not even the plows. it rained before the snow making it really heavy. trees got knocked down snapping power lines making whole towns have no power, making it so plow trucks couldent get gas or really see where they were going. it was a crazy storm.

I dont see any problems with this? Looks like normal winter conditions with only small or normal amounts of snow? What makes conditions like this worse than it should be, is cars with summer tires and the use of road salt.

Road salt changes normal, dry winter roads into roads full of slush and snow like flour. Ban road salt and make it madatory to use proper winter tires during the winter season and the winter accidents will decrease.
