  • Great drummer but the douche bag needs to stick to Britney Spears and not ruin great music. WTF was this FOB thinking???

  • Akira is not only great, but very innovative...and happy while doing it!

  • Having listened to the original cream recording , It dawned on me that the riff, essentially a relatively pedestrian blues, only comes alive with Gingers out of step drum pattern, and the way he breaks out to use orthodox fills, and then seamlessy slots back into the out of step groove. 4/4 , boom, chack, boom boom chack misses the for me. As a guitar player, I'm sure there are drummers out in the big wide, that can explain this better than me. Check out Gingers input on the original disc.

  • this is the best thing ive ever heard!!!!!!!! go akira!!!!!

  • holy crap, this guy was......COOL!

  • 30 people are mentally deficient

  • the one that so wrong in this video is, 30 people who dislike this video :(

  • One of my all time favorite drum solos

  • Who needs Drugs when you got Akira to give you your high?

  • this is "right up there" with the Asian keyboard drum solo guy...

  • This is just plain wrong. Sorry.

  • akira jimbo....nuff said

  • he did a friggin good job.period

  • I didnt know there was a Bowser version of this song.

  • ohh my god it sounds so shity it hurted my ears why didnt he stayed with the original version this re edition is awful

  • Scusami Akira ma questa variazione della canzone senza la sua melodia mi fa' veramente cacare... ( mia personale considerazione )

  • i like the way ginger baker plays it more than this dude

  • It's not quite the same thing, as here with his midi pads he plays all tracks... It's more like a performance than a real "Cream cover".

  • well with a kit like that....im not suprised. Good job man

  • that was fucking awsome good shit i like it

  • it has a speaker inside that works as a 10inch microphone. the logic is the larger face picks up more than a standard mic. change the wiring and all speakers dbl as mics. cool huh??

  • What's that on the front of his bass drum?? Is it a piccolo snare or an amplifier? I've never seen that before.

  • @hotdrumchick It's a Yamaha Subkick microphone. It's designed to pick up more low end of the bass drum.

  • Ginger Baker is far way better, he just plays what Sunshine Of Your Love needs.

  • He doesn't have to hire a god damn guitar player..he could just grab Andoh ^^

  • ending is great

  • chino culiao

  • Wtf... How can you have sunshine of your love with no guitar solo! Its just not right. Sweet drums though >:)

  • Grande Hijo De Su MAdrE!!

  • ...to user who remarked that the sound of this drumming is less than alright: ha, ha ha - you're JEALOUS!!! すごい すてきわ 〜〜〜 [and the beat goes on]

  • ヤベー!!!

    超神ダァ~~~~!!!

    マジ、尊敬するわー。

  • For all the comments comparing Akira to the original and the other covers, You have to give it up to him. ALL of what you hear is played by one man, live in one take!! Imagine him playing the original format with an entire band?

  • it sounds like Tekken hahaha

    It's kindof cool though! =]

  • or like eric clapton with cream

  • Please tell me he isnt that good...

    THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!

  • If he was going to do a CREAM song he should have least done Toad.

  • don't forget that every sound you hear in this video he is playing in real time he uses no samples

  • I always wondered if you could be good and suck at the same time and I think this is solid proof.

  • As much as I love this guy, you're right.

  • Haha i dont understand can you explain?

  • Excellent drummer, but I think original version is so much better.-

  • just fun

  • It's not that this guy is a bad drummer, but i REALLY don't like his cover. It's fun to play this song. A friend of mine and I we just jam on it. I mostly the the eight notes on my floortom, and jam on the rest of my kit. For some ( I think great ) drums on this song you should look for Eric Clapton in 1986, with Phil Collins on drums. But hé, this guy is still a good drummer

  • I think he has reached his limit of playing drums acoustically. Now he starts to develop drum playing electronically...this is good though...

Likewise, he always smiles when he plays...

  • GODLIKE

no single bad words, mock, insults on this video!

    AMAZING!

the first time i've ever seen a video like this, wow

    AKIRA JIMBO GODLIKE OWNING DOMINATING

  • correction:

guitarkis: i'm totally awful! i am the worst drummer version of this song ever!

*i'm his neighbour, he ask me to correct his statement

  • this is mint1

  • If your so good, Why don't you play the drum part instead of talking crap when you can't do it yourself!!!!

  • With your retarded logic, lots of jazz musicians are fags? I smell homophobia and retardation from your comment.

  • nice show~~!

  • Really??? You're a REAL pro. WOW!!! Show us YOUR video.Oooooh,I can't wait!!! Hurrah for real musicians!!

  • It is sunshine of your love so called "pro" ... Its not R&B you bitchface.

  • Hahaha.

To quote, show us your video, and we might not be such a bitch to you. Also, bitchface.

  • i totally agree

  • What is the little drum suspended in front of the kick?? I've never understood these.

  • it's a subkick. it picks up and then amplifies the low frequencies of the bass drum, to give it more bottom

you can read about it somewhere on the yamaha site

  • it's a microphone designed especially for a bass drum! It's super cool 'cause it looks like a drum!

  • Yes They are Grifonso... because the drummer gives you the speed and the rithm... but maybe you dont know nothin about band playin

  • hahaha, who´s talkin about great musical culture??? a poor man who supports the idea that drummers are the most important members of a band and besides gives an even more mediocre argument like: "the drummer gives you the speed and the rithm"

you should´ve added at the end of your wise quote "by flajsman88, a man who knows a lot about a band playin"

  • Bad Troll fails

  • lol wie geil

  • akira jimbo spacca i culi =)

  • Yes a drummer is important but you dont need all the fills he puts in, if anything it will put off other band members.. :D

  • omfg good drums but can u just do it again but play the riff with guitar this time?

  • ... are you ill?

  • you'll be fuckin ill in a minute.

  • lol

  • shit just got real, yo

  • It's not big or clever to act big and clever either, son!

  • This is "idiot" men, because I1m see the live concerts (Hungary/Cegléd) and the men is very good ...etc.. Akira is the full ban in one.

  • Awesome. Akira is amazing!

  • wow

  • I think you're talking absolute shit. Drummers get called more than almost anyone else in my experience, because they're 'back line' instrumentalists. A good guitarist or pianist or whatever is the 'front man' of the band, and therefore the band is 'theirs'. They book whichever drummer they feel makes them sound best.

  • You're talking out of your ass, drummers a probably the most important part of a band. I myself am one, and I'm usually first picked for musicals and whenever there's a musical event at school, not to mention many of my friends have asked me to be drummer in their bands.

  • Dude, you're spot on. I'm a guitar player and in a band situation a great drummer makes me a better guitar player. The smartest thing I ever did after playing guitar for fourteen years was to take a years worth of private drum lessons just so I could understand music better. I even went so far to join a working band as a drummer for six months. You will not find a guitar player who appreciates what a drummer brings to a band more than me. Give me a good drummer and I'll be fine! Keep on rockin'

  • hahaha a drummer saying that drummers are probably the most important part of a band...

    hahahahahaha

  • Hahaha, I'm also a bassist retard.

  • and you´re also a childish idiot without any knowledge my teenie fellow, first learn how to clean your ass and then maybe you´ll become a multi-instrumentist, but now you´re just a pretencious wannabe.

  • I clean my arse just fine at this point in my life, sir. And whether you like it or not, I am a multi-instrumentalist and I play bass, drums, piano and violin. Not to mention, sir, my teeny arse happens to be taller (Much , much taller than you.) and have a better knowledge in vocabulary than you do. So, I suggest you stop trolling youtube from an iCafe and get a job, or just kill yourself.

  • OWNED

  • Who? Did I own him or the other way around?

  • u completely owned him and nice choice of instruments, ima multi-intrumentalist too

  • You definately owned him!

  • you were OWNED fellow, in a very unpolite way but anyway owned....

    greets!

  • It's cool! Electronic music is okay.

My feeling is a drummer should hone his drumming skills. More energy in to drumming

and less in to the distractions.

I lived for those concerts where the drummers had their 10-15 minute solo and honed their artistry and skill. Just amazing!

On a positive note, a friend of mine is a drummer and he says "I wish I had chosen another instrument".

  • Theres nothing stopping you from watching him solo.

  • The Who were "showmen" but rock history will always include Cream.

It's not how many symbols you can crash or how fast. It's how you interpret the song and add that artistry.

I don't particularly like this rendition of the song. No real dynamics to it. Heck, Don Brewer of Grand Funk Railroad sounds better than this guy!

  • I have to add - Ginger Baker was the "star" drummer. I saw Ginger Baker and Buddy Rich duel it out in Central Park, New York City. Best show of drumming I have ever seen. Keith Moon doesn't stack up to either of them.

Also, I'm sorry but this Akira Jimbo is just OKAY. He doesn't come close to the artistry and syncopation that Ginger Baker had on "Sunshine of your Love" with Cream. Those three artists came together at a critical time in rock history.

  • Do you understand that he is also playing the melody?

  • That really sucked !!!

  • wtf?

  • chino hijo de remil putas rctm, toca dmasiado bn!

  • Totally Ruined this whole song!!!!!!

  • What the FUCK is wrong with you? You should be ASHAMED of yourself you fucking child!!

  • Okay, Akira Jimbo is amazing, like...FUCK!! But I really don't like this version of the song at all.

  • his asian ass would probably drop kick your face off, and so would my white ass and my buddy's black ass too. so fuck you.

  • And my Italian ass will help, right on ogskeedizzle!!

  • It's immature idiots like that give the human race a reason to have prison cells, and the teaching of how to utilize your brain.

  • i like pie

  • i like that asian flare that's added to the song, and no i'm not kidding or being racist it sounds good.

  • Freakin' Aaaaaaaaawesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why?

  • SICK

  • lol he's so funny

  • duuuuuude!!!

    i want his kit :P

  • His blue kit is for sale at rockem music at the moment!!!!

  • I wish I had the money to buy both acoustic and electronic drums and then the skill to set them up together and make wonderful music...

  • japanese drums, japanese drummer. what better combination!

  • reminds me of the kenwood dennard's vids on youtube, guys playing melodies, harmonies, rythm and sing at the same time...

  • ^ agree totally

  • bettter than keith

  • Keith Moon???

Whats Keith Moon got to do with Akira Jimbo?? Keith Moon could very rarely keep a drum fill right never mind a rudiment! and I guarantee he would not be a match or even close to Akira!

  • Hey, watch whatr you say! I happen to agree that Akira Jimbo would destory Keith Moon everyday of the week, but Keith Moon could definetely do fills right and (like every drummer who plays seriously) many of his fills are backed by rudiments. Moon's mike set-up was just no where near as good as the super-miked set Akira's playing. And Ketih Moon has everything to do with Akira Jimbo. Without Keith redefining the role of a drummer, Akira would be playing a rock beat on a four-piece set.

  • Actually Ginger Baker did more for rock drumming than Keith Moon. Moon just ripped him off. The evolution of rock drumming would have developed just fine without him.

  • First, the reply had absolutely nothing to do with Ginger Baker, it was comparing Kaith Moon to Akira Jimbo. Second, Moon didn't rip anything off Ginger Baker because their styles are absolutely nothing alike (truth be told Baker would kick Moon into the street everyday of the week). But, and this is pretty clear in my comment which you took out of context, Keith Moon did change how the drummer participates in the band. Sure Ginger outplayed Keith, but the flare isn't even in the same world.

  • How did Keith Moon change the way a drummer participates in a band then?

  • Well, the idea of superstar drummers began in thw Swing Era with Gene Krupa and grew to include such greats as Buddy Rich and Max Roach. Drummers have never been bigger, there were sold out shows where drummers would walk on and play for an hour or two without accompaniment. This didn't continue into the Rock Era as greats Ringo Starr and Charlie Watts basically just kept time. Keith Moon, followed by others, with his fast, cocky, and loud playing brought drummers back into the foreground.

  • But that's what I was saying. Ginger Baker was doing that well before Keith Moon. Toad (Ginger's durm solo) was a fan favourite at cream shows. Keith Moon didn't start playing this way until after he listened to Ginger's playing.

  • Not true, Keith Moon had always been persistently pushy with his playing, he wasn't influenced to go into the foreground by Ginger Baker. If anybody he was influenced by the octapolus fills of the legendary Hal Blaine who dominated the same genre that The Who's early songs fall into.

  • That's just because he was stoned all the time. The point is there were drummers doing a better job of what you claim Keith Moon started before he even came along. I don't see him started anything, except maybe a new way to overdose.

  • Its harder to see with a knowledge of the rock era, but ask the average person who the drummer is for Cream or the Stones and they'll probably give you a blank stare. They are, however, more likely to associate Keith Moon with The Who because he led the rock drumming revolution (again, they weren't better than other drummers, but they were far more avant-garde). Also, many drummers, including soft players like Ringo and Dennis Wilson were always stoned, it didn't make their playing obnoxious.

  • Just because the average asshole knows who he his doens't mean he influed drumming. All that means is he influenced average assholes. More drummers who followed this generation would site Ginger Baker as an influence.

  • have to agree ....ginger's use of african rhythm s and blues and jazz nuances in what was ostensibly a blues rock band was way cool ...speaking of blank stares ask a drummer what was unique about moon's style or technique ...he didn't push out any envelopes ......leading the rock drumming revolution.... that made me bust out laughing ...no, that was just him running for the crapper

  • Keith Moon was actually very important to rock drumming. My Generation, Anyway, Anywhere, Anyhow and The Kid Are Alright are all classic rock drum tracks. He was a a volcanic drummer for that time. In 1965 when The Who broke out most rock drummers were fairly conventional in their style and approach. Keith Moon may not have had tons of schooled technique but his playing was over the top and defined a type of rock drumming. Ginger was great too and a revolutionary of rock drumming too.

  • Yeah, he was here at Venezuela with the Clinic last friday and he was sweeet he gave tips and awnsered questions. I love him, the pads and the master computer is incredible, I never knew you could make those melodies with the drum set... Well, He definitively rocks and I talked Japanese with him!XD so exited, very good.. hope to see him again soon.

  • yamaha subkick, hmmm... what does that do. does it just boost the bass?

  • he has a snare in front of the drum?

  • He was at drummer live last year. He was immense. He played this, mission impossible theme and james bond. Along wit stanton moore i thought he was the best there.

  • I meant guy not gut :-)

  • Watched this gut play this last night at a clinic and its fantastic to watch live. I dont know any other drummer who plays the actual music along with the drum beat. THIS IS NOT A BACKING TRACK!!! he plays it all himself and along with all that hes a genuine nice bloke!!! And just short of 50 years old! Gotta admire him.

  • nice...!!! But I prefer the Fatboy Slim´s version!

  • the best!

  • 30 more years to be another Keith Moon

  • I enjoyed watching it. It really is funny that no matter what , people will find fault with anything. Someone could be really good but NO someone will find something bad to say . Never fails :) This guy rocks !!!!!

  • really nice.. i saw him at the weekend live and took a drum lesson!! :P he's the best

  • relax people...its an experimental take on the song and he improvises too...nobody asked u to burn ur cream records..if u dotn like it dont watch it

  • always fun to watch.

  • ill nasty

  • This guys freakin insane!!!

  • the constant hi hat clapping gives this groove a full sound.its a good habit

  • Ever see what this maniac does with his feet? Plays one pedal with his toes, another with his heel. On BOTH feet, I think.

  • i saw him at drummer live last year. He was awesome. He played this, along with 007 theme and mission impossible theme. AKIRA JIMBO IS BEST!

  • How can you dare to discuss if he's wrong or fine?... who cares what snare the original one has? listen this new and perfectly executed amazing version!! In music, if sounds good, it's good!!

  • yeah, but he got the rhytmn completely wrong - Sunshine has the snare on 1 & 3....

  • dude who cares !

  • your completely wrong! Listen to the Cream version again and learn how to count...lol

  • i love this guy on drums !!!

  • i once saw him live on a clinic

ke has like a 5 note sequence of bass on the kick drum and other sequences in the snares, so he plays and it sounds like a complete band

  • i only say "Sync DNA" :-)

  • gotta love his big smile

  • fuc*in' cool!
