  • Neat. Good job on the editing.

  • How old were you when you got the surgery?

  • @MissVillainess I was 30 when I got the surgery. The general sense I've gotten from talking to other women is that this type of surgery is much more difficult for women who are over 50. For me, it was not as terrible as I was expecting :) I'm glad to have had it done when I was young for sure.

  • you are very beautiful. glad all went well. my wife has to have this done as soon as possible. i was searching around wondering what to expect.

  • @TheRich227 Aw thank you :) I hope everything goes well with your wife! She obviously has a partner that cares about her so that will greatly help to have good support. Good luck to you both!

  • @sarkasm She had it done almost 6 weeks ago. this is the 6th week. they couldn't use the robot because it was too big so they had to do surgery. but, everything went well and she's ready to go back to work. by the way it was the size of a canalope.

  • OMG, TY for showing your video,

I will make darn sure, I have proper pain meds.

I am not able to tolerate pain.

You know what? I am not looking forward to this operation at all. , 55, pre- cancerous polyps.

Backing out is not an option.

At least now, I have an idea of what to expect.

PS- have an elderly parent at home with me, Feels so god to vent a bit.

PPS- Love your hair, and you, Your home is very, very, nice also. Cute cat !

  • @Minimouser1 Thanks :D

I'm sorry to hear about your surgery! It sounds like you definitely have a lot going on. I hope everything goes well for you, and good luck!

  • @Minimouser1 Thankyou sarkasm,

    Waiting is the hard part,

I'll be fine, Mom will too.

    Hope you feel better !

Oh June 2010 all healed up right?

    ;-)

  • Methinks someone forgot to order you a diet :P

  • I was gonna say: The post op nurses dropped the ball with me as well. They NEVER called my doctor until 7 hours after I vomitted and couldn't keep anything down. Geeze! So I have this hiadal hernia, so I am really pissed and so is my GI doctor, since now I have to go on a liquid diet. : /

  • @liliodine D: That's terrible!! I was so afraid of that happening when I was healing! How long do you have to be on the liquid diet? What are they going to do about the hernia?

  • @sarkasm Well, I threw a hissy fit and the supervisor of the Risk Mangement department called, whatever the hell that is. I told him off, he agreed. I also told him I'm going to be writing a letter, since I consider them responsible for what happened. You know how hospitals are. They don't want to take any responsibility. In post op, this dipshit dropped my IV line, picked it up off the floor. I go, "Dude, don't even think about using that again." Geeze. I gotta wait 3 months for healing. :(

  • Hi Hun. I just got out of the hospital last Saturday morning. I had the DaVinci robot hysterectomy on Friday morning. For the most part, things went well with the surgery. Wasn't happy that my anti-nausea medication was limited, vomitted for 7 hours straight before the nurse was finally allowed to call the doctor. Geeze. But I'm walking, trying to stay active, and didn't really need any meds after the hospital. Was on an IV the whole time. Said no to the last pain med, tired of puking.

  • I'm 5 days post op and it seems that most surgical centers desire day patients only. If they can get you in a oral med situation it's easier to discharge.

  • @Skyduchess Day patients isn't always possible. Anaesthesia makes many patients violently ill, requiring them to administer pain meds through IV only. I know robotic surgery cuts down the hospital stay time significantly. But the doctor has the final word on how long a patient stays in the hospital. Since the DaVinci robot was only at one hospital, I had no choice as to where I went for the surgery. Good luck on your post op recovery. I had Anaprox, but never used it after I got home.

  • A hysterectomy will usually make intercourse a very diminished experience for most couples. But a supportive husband will pretend everything is fine.

  • @hunt458 Yeah, I'm sure my husband totally hates how I'm not sick anymore, never have my period, and don't have a swollen abdomen from the giant fibroid.

Before you troll, you should at least have a sliver of knowledge of what you're talking about. A man's penis never comes in contact with a uterus, therefore it will never miss it when it's gone. I still have a vagina. It is exactly the same it's always been and wasn't involved in the surgery in any way. You dumb dickhole.

  • @hunt458 A really stupid thing to say, hunt. But we understand. You probably don't get out of your basement often.

  • @liliodine I'm only being honest. I believe it's time for everybody to be honest about the results and quit leading so many women down the hystetectomy path. There are always other treatment options. Doctors are quick to recommend hysterectomies because nobody speaks out..

  • @hunt458 A hysterectomy does not diminish intercourse. You may have to abstain for awhile during recovery, but it doesn't diminish sex. You are not being honest. You're being biased. You have no proof "most couples" experience this and that husbands "pretend" everything is fine. That was your statement. Your statement had NOTHING to do with women being blindly lead down this path. My doctor didn't recommend this. *I* did. You don't know my medical history. Are you a doctor? Have an MD?

  • Wow. I'm surprised they took out your entire uterus. I had the exact same issue you did, but they just removed the Fibroid and put me on Lupron. I'm debating with my options to talk with my doctor to either continue taking the Lupron or just having a hysterectomy since I know they will probably come back once I get off the Lupron.

  • @melissatx75 I chose to have the whole shebang, to keep it from coming back. I don't want to have children, and I really didn't want the fibroid to come back, so there was no reason to keep it! Hope you're doing well!

  • The bad stuff does not happen right away. it takes about a year.

  • Thanks for posting. I'm having the DaVinci surgery done next month. I hate hospitals. I would love to stay as little time as possible.

  • @liliodine Good luck with your surgery! Hope you're doing ok!

  • Good info. I'm scheduled for a laprascopic myomectomy next month, but have been warned it could turn into a hysterectomy possibly. I especially needed the info about staying overnight one night in the hospital. I wondered what I should do. It sounds like that might be a good idea afterall. Thanks for posting this.

  • @zinndi Good luck with your surgery! If you can afford it, staying at least one night would probably be a good idea :) Even though it is so tempting to get back home. Hope everything goes well!

  • Hi, Thanks so much for posting! I am facing the same problem right now, and will have surgery very soon. ( Also have a huge fibroid). Did you ever consider Open surgery or robot assisted (Robotic) laporoscopic surgery?

I am so scared! I hope you are feeling good now and all healed?

  • I have about 4 or 5 fibroids and i was told by my doctor that i may have to get a hysterectomy if they get worse. I am very afraid to get a hysterectomy because i don't know how a woman will feel after she gets one and i heard that some women get very depress or have a mental problems after they get a hysterectomy. I have a severe depression, then a hysterectomy woudn't be good for me.

  • @nicolewise10 It depends on how you feel about being able to reproduce---I've never wanted to have kids, and always felt like vomiting at the thought of squeezing a human out of my vagina, so for me it's been the opposite of depressing. But take your time and do what's best for you! I hope you get everything sorted out and on the path to getting better!

  • Also wanted to say that as soon as I woke up from my surgery in my room, I was already hooked up to a pain pump (fentanyl). That wasn't strong enough, so I got tordol shots in addition to it. I also had great nurses who were constantly checking on me and getting me whatever I wanted. Sounds like you didn't have the best nurses, which is a shame.

  • @shandi411 Yeah I don't know what happened. I was as nice as pie! At least it's all over now :) Hope you're doing well!

  • You didn't even stay at the hospital overnight? I recently had a hysterectomy. Had it at 7:30am on a Monday morning and was not released to go home till Wednesday night. I am so glad I had that time there. I was able to stay in bed with my legs in those machines that keep the blood flowing and had the nurses to wait on me hand and foot.

  • had it done dont recommend it. the doctor pierced my bowl!I almost died! I now have poop bag coming out my belly. ruined my life! was in the hospital for 60 days!1 million + in medical bills! 10 surgeries later. waiting now 18 months to go to court. im broke and soon homeless. me and my family. run run run! get a doctor with at least 20 years experiance. oldfashion wayis the best! dont do it! I have no belly buuton! a scar from my clevage to my pubic bone.ugly!my hair fell out too!so sad! run!!

  • @cheeseysauce44 D: That is...terrible.

  • i guess this is kinda redundant since this vid is over a year old hehe but pain killers, heavy ones, iv-able ones have a lot to do with kidney health and dwindling it. Maybe they knew stronger drugs would tire out your kidneys more and create worse stones, or make the existing ones even harder to pass. Good video though, made a lot of women feel a little better and feel less hopeless and in the dark, looking at all the comments. Hope you are feeling much better by now too.

  • @brittamonoxide That is a good point, I never thought about that! I am feeling a lot better lately, for the most part :)

  • Thanks for sharing this video. I'm doing research to find out if this is right for me and you gave me the human perspective.

  • @333Beccaboo I'm glad you found it helpful :) And I hope everything is ok!

  • Had D&C and got Fentanyl and Tordol. There is a person called the Patient Advocate in hospitals. Ask to see one and see how fast you get taken care of.

  • I need to have the same surgery. I am so very glad you shared your expeirance with us. No medical talk, just the truth. You were very helpful in letting me know what to expect. Big Hug.

  • @tinker234567 I'm really, really glad you found it helpful!! Good luck, you will do just fine :)

  • why did you have to have a hysterectomy?

  • @MissMaddy881 I had a big fibroid (which is what they call tumors that grow in/on the uterus) that was the size of a cantaloupe! It made me really sick and fatigued all the time, and I lost about 40 pounds and was miserable.

  • @sarkasm i have endometriosis and i'm only 21,

  • @MissMaddy881 That sucks! What sucks worse is, as I'm sure you've probably discovered, a lot of insurance companies won't do anything about it :-/ I hope you can get treatment/relief of some kind! Are you seeing a doctor?

  • @sarkasm yeah, i'm seeing a doctor. i had a laparoscopy two months ago and he found endo on my right side. i was hurting on the left side, but nothing was on that side. i'm having some pain again, so i'm scared and mad because i'm in school. i wonder why i was hurting on the left side..

  • @MissMaddy881 Well that sucks :( I've had a tough time with diagnoses, too. It's an awful feeling to spend time and money on doctors and emergency rooms only to be told they can't find anything. It's so frustrating. Google as much as you can, see what you can come up with. That's all the doctors are doing anyway.

  • @sarkasm do you have children?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for sharing. Having my procedure Wednesday and am very nervous. I'm at the point of anxiety. Good luck to all of you.

  • @tnictitanfan It's understandable to be nervous, but you'll do just fine! :) Good luck and heal quickly!

  • @sarkasm Wednesday is week 4 of my recovery and I am beginning to feel and move around much better. I did unfortunately bust 2 stitches after 2 weeks and now I have a bacterial infection. Went to dr on Friday and got med's for the infection which doctor said is very common (hmm) and said all is healing nicely now. Surgery went very well but the gas afterwards is like no pain I have ever experienced before in my life. Hope you are doing well yourself.

  • I just come outta hospital this morning after havin a full- abdominal hysterectomy last week. I'm OK, just VERY tender & my wound got an infection. The skin under my cut is really puffy & numb though which makes me feel funny looking/touching it. Glad I had it done though as every month I was in terrible pains due to a hole in my womb- wall.

  • @BLADE1963RED My incision looked weird for a while too, but it turned out ok :) I hope you get to healing very quickly BLADE! I was ecstatic to have mine done too; couldn't be rid of my uterus quick enough!

  • ~Hi! Hannah~Thanks for sharing your story , Im in Indy and going for a total hysterectomy on tuesday 6th of June~had a full left masectomy on this past 23rd of March and due to have total right breast masectomy on 12th of July~aagghh!!! thinkin about writing a book ~How I spent my summer vacation(getting sliced and diced)~Smile~one has to laugh or youll go nuts. Sorry you had such a problem with aftercare at the hospital and Thanks again for sharing your journey~love to you and yours, maria

  • @9freespirit WOW! You've been through quite a bit, you poor thing! I like your book title :) Hopefully you're a pro at this now, and your hysterectomy will be nothing compared to what you've already had to deal with. Good luck, good healing, and keep smiling!

  • haha, Mark "She says that to me all the time too"

  • I feel badly for you, the way you were treated in the hospital, nurses need to work on their patient care, I know they must be busy but when ever I have been to the hospital I see them all standing around the desk area talking and eating. They have to monitor patients post op. comfort people, talk to them. Everything is computerized they can print it out. I was in emerge with my baby once and I almost got up to comfort the patient beside me, who was very upset and couldn't stop vomiting.

  • I got the push button also, but I had a large surgical incision from my belly button to my vagina and had two large tumors the size of baseballs. My doctor told me my cervix and uterus were both enlarged due to the tumors. It could be your room mate had this as well. I had to stay for 4 days in the hospital. You look great btw, and seem very courageous :) to go home so soon.

  • @llongoria0 Yikes! That sounds that a lot to handle! I hope you're doing well now? And thanks :)

  • I had a ful hysterectomy done 2 weeks ago. Wow. I puked for two days. Dint eat for a week. I now have horrible gas pains and diarea. I stayed for 3 days in hospital with morphene push button, and tylenol. I still have some pain, but getting better. Your doing alot better than I did.

  • @Starlababy Oh I'm sorry Starla :( I hope you get to feeling better soon! Have you been taking laxatives or stool softener? That can help a TON.

  • Just had mine done w/Dr Whiteside on 12/15/10..YAY!

  • @ShrinkinTam Awesome!! :D I hope you are doing well?

  • Great hanna :-)!!

I hope you are good now :-)

  • @outieinbetweenie Thanks! I am mostly doing ok, dealing with some kidney stones right now but as soon as those are out of the way, I should be relatively healthy, fingers crossed and knocking on wood and taking absolutely no risks :)

  • @sarkasm

OK, I'm so happy hearing that!!!!! You are great!!!!!!!!

    xoxoxoxox!!!
