hey, if you are still using this, it appears that powermat does not use the micro sd port. there are connections that it appears to use that is on the side of the sim card. This would mean that you will keep the port available while charging. good news?
@pgf95 my theory is that this uses a megnetic field from the transmitter and is received in the phone and converted into electricity.
its kinda like a radio, the tower transmits energy, your stereo receives the energy and translates it onto sound, but in this case it doesnt translate it and just uses it as power.
@ICETEEBAG no they call it wireless because you don't have a cord plugged into you're phone. the power board sends the electricity to the copper coil when they make contact.
@KiLLAdetox@ICETEEBAG i didsnt say it would be powerful enough to do it from across the room. so technically my theory is still stable because the coil doesnt make contact, its separated by some plastic and tape.
THAT'S NOT JUST REGULAR TAPE!

@ICETEEBAG electromagnetic induction, just like in motors. you could do it across the room but then itd be powerful enough to kill you :P

Can you post some high res photos of the connection to the USB?
Does this remove your ability to connect to your PC through the USB?
Would like to try this on a droid. Thanks mate, nice job.
To the "why" people - What if Orville and Wilbur Wright listened to everyone who told them to just take the train? Cause it ain't cool. Duh.
blasko229 1 year ago
@blasko229 Then there wouldnt be any difference, as they werent the ones who invented the airplane =p Only americans think so...
But aside from that, I agree with you.

Where did you get the coil from? I have been looking for them.
droidclone 1 year ago
@droidclone I think it's from a palm pre touchstone. You can remove the coil from the backplate that comes with the touchstone.

@l3v5y I was looking for the coils for another experiment. Seems hard to fine multi-layer small air coils.

wonderful mod. please keep us updated on what you end up using in the end for a battery cover.

Great mod! The thing I'm wondering about is why you didn't use the connectors on the back of the HD2 (behind the batter cover).
They're designed for charging (can't remember the exact pinout) but it would be a lot neater. If I can get a touchstone, I'll try something like this!
l3v5y 1 year ago 2
@l3v5y I believe he didn't do it that way so he didn't void the warranty of the phone. Not to exact no that though.
joman22 1 year ago
@joman22 but you could blutack a wire to the contacts and not void the warranty.
