You hit the nail on the head, their hardware has something to be desired, and the cymbal holder on the bass drum always bugs me, but man, the drums sound great for the $.
nice kit... i want a kit but idk which to get... ive been playing since i was about 6 and im now 19... ive had the same set for years... and now its time for an upgrade... but idk where to start lol
I know the feeling, I had the same Tama Artstar 1 kit from 1987 till about 2 years ago when I finally sold it and started buying and selling used drum gear on Craigslist and eBay. Since then I've had all types of kits, check out my other vids to see, and have to say Taye drums are some of the best, and you get a lot for the money. The Studio Maples are the best, but the Rock Pros sound great too. Have fun and good luck!
had the same kit sold mine like a dummy!!! anyways these drums sound so amazing in a large room like an amphitheater i had mine in a church sanctuary and i was blown away.... totally recommend them.
I wish that when they did these demos they'd record them properly so we get a better sound. Hard to compare when just recorded with the handiCam audio. Still sounded pertty sweet though :-)
Thanks, I wish I'd kept this kit. I would highly recommend Taye Studio Maple kits - very underrated and an incredible sound. Very thin and resonant shells!
I can vouch for Taye being an amazing drum company. I've got this 6 year old ProX kit I bought new, and it's traveled all over Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and other states as well, recorded everything I've ever recorded, and has sounded amazing throughout it all. I'm retiring it here soon, though, cause it's time to get something new, plus I'm moving up to getting all custom drums from a little company I'm basically endorsed by.
Yes, Tayes are certainly under rated and l don't think most drummers know how good they are. I just got a nice 7 piece ProX kit for $350 and am loving it. What kind of custom kit are you getting?
What I'm getting are custom drums from Chicago Custom Percussion, which is a small, relatively unknown drum making company, but they're the same drums that Truth, Shine, SJC, and all the other custom drum companies make, just under a different name.
cool! how much?

I think i sold it for about $700 - drums and hardware only (no cymbals).

The Maple Kits are very nice. Not a big fan of the hardware though.

I'd prefer an extra floor tom to an extra rack tom though, Other than that, beautiful kit.
SonorTamaDWMapex 2 years ago
Yeah, me too. I sold these a couple months ago, and just picked up another Taye with a 14" and 16" floor tom. I like one up two down for toms.
ivecadit 2 years ago
@SonorTamaDWMapex Yeah i agree, i like the extra floor as well
