Brian Cox is a respected member of the Physics community who like Michio Kaku has strived to make complex ideals accessible. Yes he is smart, and perhaps one of the better looking scientists on the block, but it would be a pity if he were relegated to a fringe scientist for groupy minded women and homosexuals.
Ah, Brian Cox...the perfect beauty of science in the form of a Northern hipster particle physicist. I don't know which I have a greater appreciation for, the vast mysteries of the universe or Brian Cox. Also, he sometimes comes across as a wannabe rock star, which I also like.
Brian Cox has the ability of explaining things that non-scientists won't ever be able to understand mathematically, on a level that at least gives them the idea of what's going on - without telling rubbish, what often happens in so-called edutainment TV shows.
The brilliant Richard Feynman was a master at explaining physics to the public. Brian Cox may well be his heir in some way.

I wish I had Brian Cox as a Science Teacher at school, he makes physics 1000x more interesting than any Science teacher I ever had.

He talks about Science in a really nice way, and makes it easily accessible to the masses. I didn't know we had cute Scientists in the UK!
Really looking forward to hearing more about the LHC experiment in 2008...I hope they do make some groundbreaking discoveries about the Universe...
