Winger is technically more gifted than Def Leppard and play even more complex riffs than Metallica ...... but then again it seems anybody these days can beat Kirk Hammet .....
@MrDunkJunk His name is Cenk Eroglu He only appears on Winger's 4 cd he played keyboards and guitar on the cd but never toured with them. Kip met him and recorded some music with him in I believe Istanbul but I could be off on the location. Kip then asked him to do some work with him on the Winger 4 record and that's how he came to be in the band.
@DjAndroid2112 -->The 2nd wave of "hair metal" has already begun! Many of the '80s bands are back together, have put out albums/CDs, and are touring. Also, there's a bunch of good Swedish bands making great music. My personal favorite right now is Crazy Lixx's 2010 release "New Religion".
@Link16191619 "great bands" fapdiet and hardcock spermstar? Sorry man, they suck. They just ripped the looks and they claim they're glam. It's called sleaze and it sucks major cock. modern metal riffs, crappy singing, no vocal harmonies or epic chromatic riffs (like in RATT, Dokken or Winger) and definitely no great solos like in this epic Winger song. Only Steel Panther does the good job from the new bands today
@adrianmarsglam I respectfully disagree. I love Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx and The Poodles. At least they aren't singing the crap Simon Cowell and Disney and the rest of the brain dead music execs are shoving onto the radio.
@spiderdragon1969 Dude, I can say the same damn thing about nickelback. Man, we should expect some quality and well performance from artists! It was basic in the 80s. Now it isn't. No disrespect for you man, but the bands you mentioned are just cheap copycats doing their stuff in the easiest way that could be ever done.
@adrianmarsglam And I could say the same thing about Winger. What makes them sound any different than Ratt or Dokken or Warrant or Bon Jovi? Not much. They all sound the same to me. When I listen to this song I hear Steven Pearcy or Jani Lane or even Paul Stanley of KISS. At least bands like Crashdiet and The Poodles and Crazy Lyxx are "trying" to bring back some form of hair metal. Most '80's hair metal bands have given up or sold out...a.k.a. Def Leppard and Bon Jovi.
@stevensmatt60 They've mellowed out. I think they recorded a crappy country song with Taylor Swift. Ugh ! You don't see Cinderella do that ! Bon Jovi writes and sings country/rock. I hate it.
By their third album (which most people never knew about because grunge took over and wiped out everybody) Winger was really escaping the glam sound and coming into their own. They are a very underated band but I'm glad their still around putting out great music :)

Yeah, I grew up in 80s,Winger is ,one of the Greats that came out of that time frame,I play guitar,in my book, they blow away Metallica and all this other grunge and post grunge shit these greedy bald old assholes try to sell the dumbass American people!!,they had voice ,sharp looks ,moves, musical talent, not like these dirty looking goofy monkeys just yell and jump up and down, they belong in a F-----g Zoo!!!!!!!! Music goes where the country does, down the shitter!!
Yeh not a bad song. Very similar, rhythmically to verses of the Ratt tune "Heads I Win, Tails You Lose" (which I believe is a tune on the Detonator album)
heather goodfeather is my weather or not ; it seems. Wanna taker, to see Winger to see KIP the DEADLY singer just like all i ever wanted valerie; Winger must make a stop in Calgary ABERTA that is. tis the season to be pleasin or Freezin.Warm us up with your company. WINGER IS AWESOME
winger has the talent and mysterious, haunting caputure of the ancient eighties that I loved growing up. This band appeals to the women but this is also a man's band!!!
this band is timeless...they gotta a new cd coming up...Karma....plan to buy...it will rock...my fav song from the past is Headed for a Heartbreak...as you listen to it...just when you think you've heard the best part...it gets even better! One of the Top Rock Ballads of the 80's!!! I love you Kip!!!!
Awesome rock song. Can't believe it wasn't included on The Very Best of Winger. The riffs, opening intro and Kip's voice makes this a truly awesome song.
Don't get me wrong, I love winger. But there are things that matter most than excellent technique and solid sound. Each and every rock band pass their own messages to their crowd in their very own way, wich is a really important thing compared to the vacant, meaningless repetitive songs that come out nowadays. Cheers and enjoy this great song btw.
I love playing this, just discovered them about a year ago, headed for a heartache is awesome! Every band has their own feel, hard to explain, plying 4 19 yrs ;}>
@perpetual61 bon jovi was a pretty boy too but with the right management they went places. Kip was horrible in hiring the right management......they couldve been so much more......but you are still right in that they werent taken seriously......its a shame too...
What a cool song. I never understood why Winger got such a bad rap. In truth they are way more talented musically than their peers yet for some reason never got the respect they deserved. I'll be the first to admit "Seventeen" is a little cheesey but comparatively to a lot of the other stuff out there it just never made sense to me why they always seemed to get slammed. Good on you Winger, you guys have serious talent.
I have one answer for you.. that dumbass cartoon Beaver and butthole.. (Beavis and Butthead) and the dumbass next door neighbor kid (stewart) who was supposidly a "poser" rocker and always wore a winger t-shirt.. read wingers wiki page on it.. up yours Mike Judge you talentless, hack, dunce... WINGER ROCKS!
@Araido1968 Winger should have sued mtv for character deformation if they were pissed....B&B was out in 93' , Winger was going to fade out any way with alternative music in the early 90s; times change......hair bands had their run of the 80s decade, 90s was grunge and 00 was pop/hip hop
Right on ^. The only reason AC/DC and bands equivalent became so famous is because all rock wanna-be's in high schools covered their songs. Winger's music is much more technical and therefore more difficult to play, not many bands can successfully cover them. Not to mention Grunge was becoming popular around the time they released "Winger."
@DjAndroid2112 Android, I've often said that peopel shouldnt write off hair metal because its fun and trite. Who says musicians cant be fun and trite. On evry hair metal album is a ballad or two or three with some actual feeling behind it. The problem stems with the incessant need to label music and try to encapsulate it. Winger manke music that stirs emotions, I say we should celebrat that.
This is different than the version I have. Mines from the Demo Anthology, but then again, the "Demo" part would probably explain it. Great Fucking Song!
KIP WINGER STILL HAS IT!!!! WINGER ALL THE WAY!!! HELL YEAH!!! 80'S ROCK N ROLL JUST TOPS EM ALL...
