@eujeeves I wouldn't worry about that. ;-) Absolutely no synthesizer, simulation, plugin, etc. can still perfectly reproduce e.g. a simple guitar, acoustic or electric. Some sounds and nuances depend entirely on the randomness of physical principles, and these would need to be simulated too... This might happen one day too, though, but there will still be nostalgic purists.
