  • kill all these nasty ass nigger chimps..split all their heads wide open

  • how the fuck did i get here, i was just looking at jelly FISHSHSHSH.

  • I am very hopeful that in the future, scientists will do as they have said they will now and allow the animals to die among their friends and families. And Kekermonger- pounding on the chests of the bodies is exactly what doctors do in hospital to try to get a heart beating again.

  • What was with the warning at the beginning? What people might actually see that other animals aren't all that stupid and pretty self aware and they might feel bad?

  • of course she knew the fuckin baby was dead, I swear ppl underestimate animals to much, she clearly was having an extremely hard time letting go

  • Chimps are pretty dumb in many ways. And some have weird butts.

But did you know that a chimpanzees short term visual memory is 10X better than a humans?

  • I once saw on National geography a story almost like this. It followed the life of a group of chimpanzee one of the youngsters use to cause a lot of problems but when the mother died in a rainy day, he refused to move from that area. Days passed and he left the group. He was followed for some time and he eventually died.

  • Initially when looking at the title I thought "they make up fairy tales to comfort each other too?" :S

  • 1:32 thats just sad

  • is....IS KERMIT THE FROG NARRATING THIS!!!

  • Just Remember Humans Are Animal's Too. It's Only Our Arrogant 's And Ignorance That Makes Us Think That We Are The Only Ones Capable Of Any Emotion's Or Any Real Intelligence !! And When Europeans Were Discovering The Then New Worlds. The White Europeans Treated The Black People Exactly The Same As Animals Literally !!

  • hahah stupide monkies

  • Yes, let's deny a dying animal a painless death and then, let it suffer in misery 'til its last gasp. Why? So that the still-living animals can be comfortable (presumption) watching the slow death and misery of older, maimed animals? Of course. How wise you are! How Human!

  • @aliveinsd if ur mother was dieing for say, would u rather have a needle stuck into her and lose all hope of her recovering, or be there by her side comforting her, making her feel less upset about it, hoping that she might recover by way of a miracle

  • @aliveforanimation My mother, like your's, is a Human. Humans make decisions and act on them. Chimpanzees leave 'em to die in the forest. Read your Jane Goodall. This "death watch" is abnormal to the animal, and gross anthropomorphism. You are smarter than that!

  • @aliveinsd animals mourn over death just as we do, they have compassion and care for one another, and not everything an animal does is on instinct, or do you actually believe that animals do not have souls? or a will of their own for that matter?

  • @aliveforanimation What are you saying? You are preaching to the converted = lapse of logic. Of course animals have feelings, and I believe for the most part a "spirit." Although, we haven't yet scientific evidence of such for Humans nor non-Human animals. Take your argument to the needy. All I said was that chimps do not go through mourning in the wild. The video is not accurate in that regard, and euthanasia would be kinder. The poor old ape!

  • They should of warned me those bastards.

  • So Chimps show grief? Wow. So do Elephants. In fact I've seen a video of stray cat showing grief. Scientists get paid alot of money to "discover" what is pretty much common knowledge. Wow, I should be a scientist. 90% of studies show that when you put water in a functioning freezer, it turns into ice.

  • @WunderDoob, You're too stupid to become a Scientists because it's a lot not alot you idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @APotatoWithAGun

Saying "alot" is extremely common in America. It's a legitimate word here. You on the other hand were the illegitimate offspring of one of these apes and a crackwhore. It's amazing what can happen with a bottle of whiskey in the back of a taxi cab, eh? The miracle of life.

  • @WunderDoob, You're too stupid to become a Scientist. So just shut up and watch the video.

  • @APotatoWithAGun

That's an odd assumption since I am a professional chemist.

  • @WunderDoob. Now you're lying because you said you wanted to become Scientist and get paid a lot of money to do this shit. You're a stupid liar.

  • @APotatoWithAGun

These are biologists. Not chemists. You're categorically challenged.

  • @WunderDoob, Hey you're the one that said "maybe I should be a Scientist, put water in a functioning freezer and say it turns into ice alot. Alot is a common word in America blah blah blah." It's a lot you stupid fucker.

  • @APotatoWithAGun

You have alot of free time on your hands don't you? I think you have alot of issues, and you need alot of help. I'm gonna go buy alot of ice cream.

  • sad, yet interesting. I remember my cat having kittens when I was young and when a kitten died she was carrying it around with the other's as if it were alive before it was taken away from her. I think animals expierience more emmotions and thought than we give them credit for.

  • 0:45 Wheres my money bitch!!!!!!

  • the reporter sounded like one muppet character.

  • look at all those black people.

  • aw., that's so sad

  • HAHAHAHA!!! thats funny!! the mummified chimp. it looked like a sock monkey!

  • This is so sad.... :(

  • Calm down, they're just monkeys.

  • @ainteasya technically they are apes. and we are too.

  • This is very interesting, but it's SO EASY to misinterpret the actions of animals, other primates included. I think that chimps and humans probably do have similar ways of grieving. I think that, but I don't think this video provides enough proof.

  • i cant wait to develop speech so they can join the ranks of men. we can learn so much from them, and they can learn volumes from us.

  • The segment with the corpse is chilling. The way its limbs are all spindly as the mother picks it up and places it onto her back - this is a bit of a dark video for Discovery to upload, is it not? Interesting though.

  • @BladesOfMunch You didn't get that from the whole "Warning: The following images may be disturbing to some viewers." thing at the beginning of the video? :P

  • @BladesOfMunch you have seen nothing in life...ever seen bodies being chopped and burned.

  • @Eternalmysteryable Yeah I have.

  • @BladesOfMunch Then this Video is nothing...

  • @Eternalmysteryable I disagree. This video is NOT "nothing". It is a lot if you're interested in differences/similarities between species. Many people draw a line between all 'other' animals and humans, stating that 'animals' do not understand/behave/ respond as humans do. This video shows the contrary. When I refer to the "corpse" in my initial comment, I am reflecting on the entirety of the clip, i.e. here, a mother refuses to leave behind a child who is clearly beyond ‘recently deceased’.

  • @Eternalmysteryable Ever seen dumb girls? Now you have!

  • @OrangeAgu6 you really want to get laid with me do you?

  • wow can the little chimp not see that the corpse doesnt move or react. That is just weird, maby they do care for them so much they just cant let go, or there kinda dumb and cant tell the living from dead >.>

  • I always pound on dead peoples bodies to bring them back to life.

  • @Kekermonger Does it work?

  • Not surprising given how many similarities we already have with chimps.

  • @TarikuKunn Humans ARE similar to chimps. We are relatives in evolution. What makes you think they aren't?

  • @TarikuKunn stop being ignorant please. theyre not saying humans are chimps. theyre saying chimps are very similar to humans. humans and chimps are genetically 99% the same. and racism is stupid as well.

  • wtf youtube -_-

  • @mkotisrael It was described in the video.

  • @mkotisrael maybe if you watched the video before you commented, you would know the answer

  • mummified chimp is nasty

  • i'd like to know how much pets like dogs and cats can be aware of their owner's death... and what they'd do when they realise it.

  • @RuleThaEra I can answer that one for ya, they eat you as soon as it's feeding time.(and no I'm not kidding) so their aware of you not feeding them.

  • @matt5894146 yeah i guess when the hunger becomes bigger than the love (if such exists) for their owner they have no choice...

but my question was rather if they are capable of mourning

  • @RuleThaEra i sorry about that then i misunderstood you there.umm to if they mourn..well by observation when a cats owner is away the cat well walk around mowing and looking for them,so i would have to say to a point they do at least as much as every other animal but i find it highly unlikely that animals really understand what death means.

  • @matt5894146 I agree about animals understanding YES, but feelings are something else. You can think of animals as little kids. For ex: Mother lying on the floor lifeless and kid unaware death fallen over his mother yet he'll feel something is wrong.

  • wow...im telling you we came from chimps :P

  • bad layout

  • really interesting

  • I HATE THE NEW LAYOUT

  • LOLWUT?

  • Amazing !

    thanks Discovery Networks <3

  • YouTube fail...

  • Wow...

  • bad name

  • woah, interesting.

  • That's interesting, but it doesn't surprise me, because I know we're a species of African ape.

  • ...and that's exactly how god was created, when they start putting flowers on the graves of their relatives, people are going to understand how we started to believe in a god.

  • @Pablothe

    i agree with you completely.

  • Rest in peace monkey.

  • Wow.... Amazing

  • Damn right. they are living beeings with more than average understanding.

  • Um what is the point of this video, animals do have souls you stupid scientists.

  • @Core2IV that apes has similar traits as humans in terms of dealing with death

  • @Core2IV i know right, ppl are soo stupid

  • Woww , that's quite intresting even tho i don't like monkeys

  • how did it get mummified

  • too much taco bell is what happened.

  • OMG LMFAO look at the monkeys monster ass... 1:04

  • lol, nice name

  • @tkd184 what was it before?

  • @tkd184 what was wrong?

  • @tkd184 lmao! what did it say before?

  • This makes me think that human religious ideology probably developed way before we stood upright.

  • @Valstein0 most certainly.

  • @Valstein0

way ahead of you, think of anything with memory is capable of its own system.

  • @Valstein0 And how would that be?

  • wow good vid

  • lol at that ape's ass wtf

  • @tehcexymeowmix that's hot

  • 6th

  • youtube has being making the title of videos the name of the video file for a couple days now. it fixes itself after a litle while however,
