See, Big Sur Moon came around in 1998 and I don't think GIlbert's came out before it. I am not 100% sure though, so don't kill me. Either way, delay has always been my favorite effect and obviously Bucket's. He uses that delay in a lot of songs. I don't blame him, it's pretty sick.

i.e. if you're playing eighth notes, you want the delay set to a dotted eighth note, playing quarters, set to a dotted quarter, etc. You want the repeat to be exactly half way between the next two notes you play.
For more cool examples of this kind of effect, check out the middle part of Symphony X's "Candlelight Fantasia" (effect starts at 2.25) or Dream Theater's "Lifting Shadows Off a Dream" (effect starts at 0.55)
ok....@wsmith1213 To get that repeat effect you just need a simple delay unit (most likely the delay effect on your amp won't work properly since you can't accurately set the number of repeats, etc)
First, set the delay to repeat exactly once. Now you need to set the delay time to be 50% more than the time between the notes you're playing. You want the timing to go like this: you play the first note, play the second note, exactly half a note later you hear the first repeat, exactly half a note later you play the third note, etc.

@thenamesdatlon Paul Gilbert seems much more involved with his fan community. I mean, you don't see Satriani and Vai making these little videos and such? He communicates with his audience very well, both on and off the stage.

no, not even close. paul gilbert gets A LOT of attention for the genre he plays in. shawn lane, kiko loureiro, guthrie govan and several others are way more underrated than paul.
