@frufruj, Thanks for posting the lyrics, it makes all the difference, because although I read Italian, sometimes spoken or sung by a non-Italian, it gets difficult to understand.
I've heard only one man, who could be able to sing this aria with such a long phrases with one breath. Of course Cappuccilli. Dmitri had an incredible voice, an excellent technic, and fine sense of drama. What a great artist!
well, we all know that keenlyside got smaller voice than hvorostovsky.... His voice is not the richest bariton. but ofcourse his performace was very convincing. well, actually I think he showed very much 'love' to Kaufmann :)
yes, but i think (and not only i:-) ) that he is a great actor :-))) and his voice expresses so much (i love his cd´s with songs:-)) f.e.schumann´s) and that he showed love to kaufmann, that is understandable, kaufmann is quite a lovely man:-)))
I am just saying that his voice is not you will traditionally have for this role.
well, kaufmann is not a traditional voice carlo either.
for their love, actually people really can't help but think they should be together in this ROH production. when rodrigo dies, I almost think they are going to kiss.
@amfortas1978 that is my theory that Posa loves Don Carlo. you don´t learn from the opera that POsa loves anybody else than Carlo (except ,maybe:-)), il popolo di Fiandra:-)) ).
Нет а как ему Кауфманн ассистировал!!! Во эн-н-тно ДА!!!! такую вещь только на адренелине вытянешь... Respkt Dima, ein bisschen mehrere technisch singen....
Incredibly moving. What artists! What music! Thanks for these posts. (By the way, if you love this opera, I strongly recommend that you never, ever read any history books about the real Don Carlo.)
Thanks so much for this clip. I'd really like to see those two do that scene on stage!
Never realised before for how long Hvorostovsky can keep singing without taking a breath. And Kaufmann just having to just stand there all the time and still acting so convincingly, wow.

Ma perché scrivere commenti volgari e irridenti? E il rispetto per gli altri non conta proprio?
