  • that guy is way too excited

  • The most excited engineer I've seen on video.

  • i love how excited this guy about his job (:! it's something to see someone so enthusiastic about their career. i'm studying for my bachelors degree in M.E. so this video is really exciting :D

  • I'm not this enthusiastic and yet I have also made the decision to become an engineer at 7. I feel I am more enthusiastic about solving the problem rather than creating the device I will use to solve it. don't get me wrong I love making things I make robots in my spare time but this dude is jumping off walls and throwing bananas lol. To me making the device is like playing a good xbox game I wont be jumping off walls but I'm happy doing it forever

  • I hope everybody is this excited about their job, regardless of the field.

  • And don't forget math, lots and lots of math :)

  • in high school it's physics and chemistry for mechanical engineering :)

  • Interesting video! This sums up why I am so passionate about mechanical engineering.

  • @MechEngForum yow, I'm passionate about it too

  • Physics physics physics! XD But I love phyics!

  • Nice. He said e = mc^2. Like you would need relativity in mechanical engineering.

  • @computerex Thats why he's an engineer xD.

  • @computerex yes M.Engrs. should know relativity particularly in his job because planets have different time frames. sorry for replying for 1 month old comment. peace

  • @tanteinengr

This video is about mechanical engineering... It is true that for deep space probes relativity might come into play because of the high velocity of unmanned spacecraft, but it should play no part in the construction of the spacecraft...

  • The world would be a better place if everyone loved their job as much as this guy. Damn I can't wait to be an engineer :)

  • I'm not sure if grades matter but I have a C in English. I'm trying so hard to get it to atleast a B. Ugh! I'm so stressed now! >.<

  • @legolaspoptarts Don't worry a lot of people in engineering don't speak very much english do your best and you will get by. I failed my early years in highschool but if its what your meant to do you'll make it through. Best of luck

  • ok so for these dickheads who are saying that GPA matters and ruin the dream of students with low GPA i gotta tell you this:

My cousin had a GPA of 2.7(really bad for engineer)...BUT right now he is working for NASA for 1 year and his annual earnings is $150,000..Despite his low GPA he is an INTELLIGENT guy with passion and thats why he succeeded.

All the 4.0 GPA students can brag all they want

  • Comment removed

  • @174566661 Oh?

How about you EXPLAIN to us then, how exactly he made it in? Why did NASA consider him? Did he actually APPLY with that GPA? Most importantly, what exactly did do to prove his so called intellect to them? What was the PROCESS that got him accepted into NASA and for what reasons?

I kinda wish you speak the truth.

  • @EwBriii oh! let me enlighten you. He got his M.S. in Physics and his M.S. in EE. Later he got hired by the government to work in the military for new weapons projects (Top Secrets) using new technologies in Indiana. He worked there for 1,5 years and participated in many projects. Later he got accepted from NASA and he got a position in communications. Now not only he still works for NASA but they also pay(partially) his tuition for his Ph.D in EE. Is that enough or you want any picture?

  • @174566661 I know Kobie personally. He has no degree in EE... He is one hell of an ME and a hockey player!

  • @Ziknazoo umm...what?...No i was talking about my cousin..we have an argument with the user below me

  • @174566661 Very well said. Very encouraging and positive comment. Not to mention very true.

  • @174566661 thanks for sharing! I am a ME student dreaming of working for NASA ;)

  • GOTTAM

  • wow next time i feel doubt in my major i'm going to watch this video. it's getting me pumped to study so i can get a good job like this guy.

  • Jason Taylor

  • i graduate next spring in mechanical engineering!! :))) vapor power cycles and combustion engines are about to be changed forever ;)

  • You know you figure engineers to be these boring guys glasses all nerdy. I feel great to know there people who love their job as much as this guy. I see a good and satisfying opportunity in this field

  • this dude has a hard on

  • He's juiced up with passion.

  • I'm glad I chose Mechanical Engineering as a major.

  • I'm going to do mechanical engineering at university next school year <3

  • Damn, I'm a junior EE major and this video got me wishing I would have changed to mechanical.

  • I can only hope I'm that happy when I graduate from college. It's like he never turned 8.

  • This video makes me soo excited !!!!!!!! Cant wait 2 to graduate with the degree of mechanical engineering....

  • i want to be...i WILL be a mechanical engineer!!

  • society encourages us to go to work, sit in our office and hate what we are doing, then come home and eat potato chips on the couch. Now this is a man that had a dream, buckled down, went through some fricken hard classes, but in the end is able to do what he loves. Now that is a man that is following the American Dream!

  • I wish I was better at maths and physics :(

  • @felipescalador There's ABSOLUTELY (!) nothing you can't achieve! Invest more time and power into these two fields (instead of playing video games or browsing YouTube ;)), solve more problems and do more exercises, and you're GUARANTEED to get an A+, in both of them! :) Good luck and have fun!

  • super

  • The most important class for you to take in high school: The one I never took. sheeeooooot.

  • wtf half this video is about space....

  • he inspires me.... alot!... and damn... he makes it look like the time of your life! i f***ing love robots and that looks epic!!!

  • awesome man, pure awesome. I want to work for NASA too someday!

  • i am studyng ME and i tell you the carreer is a jewel, its so beautifull, i mean i totally made the right decision, i just love it, and i understand this guy, and his enthusiams, the field is very rich and veratile , it has a lot of subfields to work on, for me its my favorite engineering.

  • i am a mechanical engineer. you can do a diploma or a degree in mechanical engineering.if you want to learn mechanical engineering at home you can switch to "IIT lectures "or "MIT open course ware"

  • I am thinking about majoring in mechanical engineering. I like the idea of working on machines and budding things. The problem is, I'm only average at physics. Not really bad or good, just average. Do I still have a chance of doing well? I never took physics on high school so it's a little overwhelming I College now. But maybe I'll get the hang of it.

  • Damn youuuuu! I want that job :(. I look forward to the challenge. I just don't know which engineering degree to go for! Electrical or Mechanical? I want both, but ultimately I just want to do what this guy does and that's build space ships!

  • @kryp10yt Do Mechanical as a major and Electrical as a minor.

  • did he call himself an "Afro-american"!? Haha i have never heard that before!

  • this guy is livin the dream

  • He perfectly personified my inner child pertaining to all things mechanical!

  • Listening to what he said really got me thinking about something. If you compare the two, getting a degree in mechanical engineering is ALMOST as getting a degree in physics. Am I right? I mean, I know you learn some other stuff in M.E. (like some economics and chemistry, drafting, standards, etc.), but for the most part (say, 80% of the syllabus), you're actually learning physics. So now I need to choose what degree I want to get. What do you guys suggest? Mechanical engineering, or physics? :\

  • @aryesegal1988 I'm a mechanical engineering major myself. I would say that the difference in the two fields is that engineering is the practical application of concepts from physics and mathematics. In other words, we take all of that theory and focus on creating something useful out of it to benefit society. I think if you're going into a strictly physics degree program, you probably want to learn physics at a more theoretical and conceptual level rather than a practical one.

  • Comment removed

  • @aryesegal1988 I would suggest mechanical engineering. Physics majors nowadays usually need more than just a bachlelor's degree to obtain a job, unlike the engineer (and the engineer has a higher starting salary). Also, mechanical engineering for the most part is about the applications of F=ma for solids and fluids and evaluating these forces through simulations for design. Engineering is about application of Physics to the modern world.

    Regards,

    Mechanical Engineer ;)

  • Mr. Boykins fails to mention one thing

-hundreds of thousands of American engineering jobs are being outsourced to India and China, and tens of thousands of foreign engineers are entering the USA on H1B Visas and for half the salary, taking the jobs of American engineers.

    Had enuff of this crap?

  • I hope to be just like him

  • I am a mechanical engineering student and after watching this video, I became even more excited than I ever was. I am like, "Yes, this is exactly what I want to do!" I might not be talented enough to go to NASA, but designing machines has always been my dreams.

  • @The12thAkatsuki its not that great trust me spent hours doing design but it'll be a headache eventually

  • This guys awesome!

  • Brilliant video. Very inspirational. This should be shown to kids in school.

  • Don't make it public that you are willing to do your job for half the pay!!!

  • haha Fuck yes buddy!

  • I bet he's thrilled that Obama shut down NASA.

  • @jaigooroo Why would you even bring up obama.

  • @aceone1988 because obama basically shut down NASA and now this guy probably doesn't have a job anymore.

  • @jaigooroo NASA is not shut down it's still running what are you on about. I was just on there web site and they are just about to go on a new expedition.

  • This guy is awesome.

  • if only everyone was this passionate about their job...

  • @PLUOSVSEYR We'd have a much more efficient world to live in... ;)

  • ive done my masters in mechanical engineering and i love it !!!

  • what a dream job

  • I like this guy so much. He is very confident in whatever way he is. That is the main reason for his success!

  • i love how slow the rover is crawling and the engineers are going nuts on their knees checking it out xD. i wish i could be like this guy....although i doubt that'll happen

  • I have the honor of working for this man. The first day I met him in person I was thrown aback but by his charisma, enthusiasm, and his brilliance in his field. He is an awesome guy that everyone loves being around.

  • I actually love this video but people, I guess the real picture is hidden. NASA here is promoting its "space exploration" campaign to public saying its cool and stuff. All this funding in fact is unnecessary. What has the greatest minds so far ever created - destruction* ok, some of it has contributed a lot but most noticeable is the bombs, weapons, combustion engines that pollute, etc.. its a fact, but its sad. but this is all mech eng as well dont forget and i am too

  • do not presume all mechanical engineers are like kobie. Some of us end up just looking for jobs, etc. Most engineers just do the background work and stuff. Design is quite messy & difficult. Working on a "space-related" thingy - i think its like one of the very few people who actually make it thru. I dont know where I will be eventually heading - maybe nowhere. But what I can definitely say is that this guy is charismatic, smart and convincing. I respect him.

  • I'm in school for mech engineering right now (sophmore). I'm afraid I'll end up in a cubicle working with a computer and writing on paper and not have a more tactile-demanding job.

  • damn rednecks are getting everywhere , I didn't know they were able to use the internet now

  • damn.... now i wanna do that too.. lol nice vid.

  • good vid, word up.

  • Isn't that Eugene Struthers from MadTV?

  • nice to see someone with so much passion for his job

  • greetings from mexico. I know that studying engineering thank you very much, I hope some day as exciting activities like this

  • Great video. But this is not a day in the life of the 'average' mechanical engineer.

  • cool

  • i love ME

  • the guy is so excited like his going to mars 2morrow.lol

    nyc video..

  • tupac built the rover

  • hahahahahaha

  • I'm going to KICK YOUR ASS YAMANASHI!

  • Great video, well done and with emotion from the talent. As a teacher, I like presentations like this. They grab your attention and have a message to deliver. Also as a teacher, I wonder how some of you that make comments ever graduated high school.

  • That guy would be fun to work with.

  • this guy. hes so joyous about his job. its hilarious! lol at 1:36

  • You know they only hire minoritys at NASA now

  • @Shark142 Yo, I'm about as white as they get and I worked with Kobe for two co-op stints at JPL. Kobe and JPL are about as legit as they come. Keep your prejudices to yourself until you got some shit to back it up.

  • you definitely don't start with e=mc^2

  • i love that guy!

  • wtf

  • Comment removed

  • dont believe this guy seriously this has so much spin on it. nasa is a cold hearted bitch who will drop your employment at the tip of the hat if the slightest mishap occurs. and trust me all of the colleagues i know are extremely self centered and arrogant. it drives me crazy. fuck engineering i hate it..

  • and thats why your not an engineer, you wouldnt be cold hearted if engineers didnt exist, no games, computers, cars, you name it bitch ass ironcurtain88

  • fuck you bitch

  • my dream job, wish that was me

  • i can feel the excitement of the man

  • @COD5252

I love people like him when you go to school. But I bet as a kid that poor man had to fight every day of his life. I speak from experience.

  • @COD5252

And that is passion... that is the passion you need; not GPA, but that kind of passion in engineering is really what you need haha

  • @hyperkkt GPA?

  • @COD5252

    grade point average :P

  • @hyperkkt no man GPA matters now dumbasses with top class grades are recruited easily

  • @COD5252 im talking about what kind of individuals company actually 'NEEDS' not those who realistically get 'HIRED'

  • @COD5252 Sure GPA matters. But remember, GPA is based on how much effort you put into it. And that amount of effort is based on how much passion you have for what you do. If you love engineering, you'll get a good GPA in math & physics. If you don't enjoy engineering, your grades will suffer and it will be reflected in your GPA.

  • @1danyol1 agreed this is very true

  • @COD5252 dumbass = top class grades, what a great correlation you got there.

  • @ResultantForce Im a dumbass. I dont know shit. Thats why i spend all my time goin to class, Doin problems. Goin to tutoring. Basically studying my ass off. My GPA is good. (no c's) But i am not smart. I wish i were, so i dont have to put as much effort. My friend is a smart guy. He already knows everything. But he gets c's. Strange isnt it?

I kno its irrelavant. But this is the closest i can get to saying my new moto lulz

    /thread

  • Grades arent everything. It's what your learning. If you want it. Those who end up just looking for jobs, dont know how to look, or really not looking all that hard. You can have it if you want it. You dont have to be the smartest person to have what you want. But you do have to have drive and will. I'm a Mechanical Engineer, not for Nasa, but have worked for Nissan, Saturn and other good names. Oh, try not to get caught up in contracting. Uuuhhggg.... The money is good, but time is short.

  • There is no way anyone love their jobs as much as this dude is acting like he does.

It looks like a cool ass job, but he acts like he actually enjoys waking up and doing the boring tasks that every scientist/engineer complains about (whether they love their jobs or not). Hell, even people who can't get enough of their jobs have a problem with just waking up in the morning lol.

  • @MartialArtistWannabe

    Hey .. STFU ...

when you are doing shit advanced as he does you have to love it excpecially because the schooling is hard as fuck .

so when your able to be able to make things like that and then watch them succed it's incredible .

(but he is alittle over the top .. but it looks like he has ADHD)

  • he's passionate, he doesn't have ADHD u fucking moronic pig

  • idk what you are talking about, but to me it looks like he really enjoys his job and hes not faking anything.. besides it really is an interesting job, and maybe ur the only lazy bumb who can't wake up in the morning..there are a lot of people who can..

  • I love space exploration. It makes me smile thinking about 200 years into the future. Not one, not two, but maybe even fifty space stations and actual cargo ships delivering goods to them Beautiful.

  • dream on.

It's not possible for humans to exist in space near-earth orbit. Radiation will kill you

  • You mean like how the radiation killed all those astronauts that have been living in space for years at a time?

  • i meant to say it's not possible for humans to live in space EXCEPT near earth orbit. My mistake. But my point was that we can't send people to mars or any other planet, because humans will die form radiation. Even trips to the moon are extremely dangerous and would have to be severely limited in duration and scope. Mars will certainly never happen, and NASA knows this.

  • What about the moon base scheduled for I think, 2020? That will allow people to live on the moon for quite a while at a time. Not to mention how fast technology is being developed and put out, I wouldn't be surprised if we have small bio-domes supporting hundreds of people at once in the near future. Just think of the possibilities.

  • hey its possible .. they found water on the moon when the hit it w/ that missle

  • Your a sad man....If you dont like it im sure other countries like oooo.....well I cant think of any countries that would support your idiotic thinking....If he was unquialifed he wouldnt be working there you jerk,,,,I wish all you racist morons would hurry up and die off.

  • you are the one who is sad, by taking sides with racist policies such as affirmative action.

  • yes. NASA has gone in the toilet after they became a fucking social experiment , hiring niggers and bitches rather than qualified people

  • ignorant, jobless bitter redneck. go to school if you are jealouse of him idiot.

  • @Gutsyndicate wow thats sort of rude, maybe you're the bitter redneck-you don't even know how to spell JEALOUS.

  • damn dude this video is inspiring. ha ha.

  • this guy tells about the the job in a way it not boring but very exciting

  • i loooooove engineering!!!!!!!!!!

  • this guy is hyper. I was hoping for something more in depth. He seems like an actor.

  • im starting college in 3 months for mechanical engineering technician at niagara college, do any of you experienced engineers know of ways to be self employed in this field?

  • self employed in Mech. Engineering? The only way I can think of is to be a consultant. But to be a consultant, you need to work up some experience, expertise, references, a portfolio of work and patents, and most importantly - contacts. High quality contacts.

Make a good impression w/ everyone you meet, meet a lot of people, and do a good job for ten years or so and then you can be self employed. Of course having a P.E. license is a must, and you can't get a P.E. without practical experienc

  • go NASA! never stop reaching for the stars!

  • an other bald engineer....why are we loosing our hair????

  • His job looks really fun =D

mathematics is really important in mechanical engineering right?

  • Yep, that´s right.

  • Aight thanx. But, can you tell me how mathematics are important in engineering? Can you give me examples or sumting? thanx =]

  • No, i can´t. =)

I´m studying in my first year and i don´t have a clue how i´ll need all the mathematics later. Only thing i know is that we have LOTS of maths...

  • you'll need math for pretty much every course and more importantly u need to know differential equations and integration especially integration

  • To convert all our ideas into a successful design...we use mathematical techniques.

  • Im in my third year of mechanical engineering...u need to have a good grasp of calculus, algebra, and differential equations. In your first year ull do a lot of calculus which u need through out ur career and youll also have linear algebra

  • Wow!That's so going to be crazy!Mathematics, kind of cool!So tell me is Mechanical Engineering is it hard?I'm now studying Mechanical Engineer.

  • ohhh im so excited i just changed my field of study from petroleum engineering to mechanical

    can't wait to graduate

  • Which is easier, petroleum or mechanical in terms of studies?

But with petroleum you get a lot of pay thats the advantage...

  • generally Mechanical is harder.. but for me petroleum is harder because im not that good in organic chemistry..

i agree with u on the money advantage but petroleum engineering is a limited to petrol while mechanical is more general.. take a look at every industry.. u will find the need of mechanical engineers everywhere.. even BANKING

  • I like his job.

Yo quiero estudiar ing. mecanica, porque como dice ese tipo es pura física y eso me gusta.

  • his job looks so cool :D

  • he is a martian...i can say this because im from MIB

  • I admire this, this guy really likes what he's doing. there's VERY few people who can be this enthusiastic about their job.

  • socialism would practicaly work if everyone was like this guy

  • lol, all in all though, to get through the intense workload you have to be this passionate about engineering. If you don't love what you are doing, the likely hood of someone becoming an engineer is slim to none. I know first hand.

  • @kokka25 when you're an engineer, trust me i know, you're excited about your every day lol

  • @Spikejr5342 I can't wait to finish engineering school myself.

  • @Spikejr5342 I'm majoring in engineering right now, and I love it, I know there's some strings attached, but I think the profession is still great.

  • @Spikejr5342 I absolutely agree, I'm a mechanical engineering student and find it such an amazing field!

  • THE DREAM

  • this man is excited, lol.

  • Ok physics hmmm, i quit i hate physics it sucks everything else i love and do well in but physics i do not like, my class is curved so i have a B but i feel ive learned nothing.

  • Your brain needs to be naturally good at understanding mathematics and spatialiaty for you to be good in physics and engineering. You shouldn't hate physics but appreciate those who understand it and give us the gift of technology.

  • to my experience, I would say Maths, Maths, and then Maths...

  • i got 4 semesters left, wish me luck

  • wow. its great to see engineers actually having fun in their job. thats why i always wanted to be an aerospace engineer.
