Thomas Malory's book LeMorte d'Arther is a lot of fun. It has him invading Rome and fighting giants. Charactors like Sir Safire. There was alot of talk and trade even back in the day if you look at the countrys around the edges of the Roman empire there were some amazing Kings and one Celt woman his story fits more than one. That round table were no one sat at the head was a cool idea and I don't think it's gone away. ;-)
@danbagheri there is many versions some identify him as an actual saxon or a roman officer and also a celt. but this story is utter contrived bs, people trying to infringe on our legends just to make a buck.
Point of Information: This beautiful County Waterford song was composed by Fr. Maurus Ó Faoláin, Abbot of Mount Mellary who was born and reared at Mahonbridge at the foot of the Comeragh Mountains. It seems to be based on the model of Bán Chnoic Éireann Ó by Donnchadh Ruadh Mac Conmara (18 Century)
@KensaiLaki They're still spoken languages, its just there aren't that many people who speak them. They're by no means dead. Irish Gaelic is taught at schools in Ireland, while Scottish Gaelic is starting to get taught again in Scotland, though its mostly spoken in certain parts of the country (The traditional Gaidhealtacht: Highlands, and the Western Isles).
Raveneyes2006, You can find this song on a CD titled Windham Hill Classics Celtic Legacy. The entire CD is beautiful. If you enjoy this song, you'll probably love the CD. Blessings~
arthur was truthfully part roman he was the commander the reason the romans took people into the army was to keep their soldiers from rome closer and to incoportate great horsememan like the sarmatians who are supposedly related to the huns or mongols adn they created a powerful cavalry unit
I really doubt that King Arthur was a Sarmatian in reality -it's far more likely he was a Celt or Welshman- but it definately made for a good story-line and a nice tale. :)

King Arthur. Original name Artorius is of Lithuanian origin and means a "plowman".

Why not? A lot of evidence points that way. Hell, the sword myth is practically a copy of Batraz's sword from the Nart epos.
Forgive my curiosity, but what nationality are you? I'm justr asking because it's interesting that you call yourself a sarmatian.
Alanofthemountains 4 years ago
nah really don't think so most of the legends relate to the Celts not Sarmatians which are related to the present day Iranians
