I like this game. Sure, it isn't action-filled like, for example Dragon Age, which i also played and liked. They are different, but both great: in my opinion, you have a great role play experience, 'cause you start as a noob (i played a thief and man he sucked in the beginning) and develop some nice skills over time. sure, they still are quite weak, but this game is, for me, about atmosphere, not action. kurz: ich mags, weil es stimmung hat, für action spiele ich andere games :)

@jassidoe What you have described this games as, quite rightly is a real RPG. What you said about Dragon Age, quite rightly is that it is not a real RPG but something more action orientated. What would you think of this game is, like Dragon Age, it only had fast travel, with no gameworld to explore?!

@UnevenPieces Personally I like the DSA system, what I always disliked about D&D is the silly progression. Level 1 you have 4-10 hitpoints, which means a single strike will usually kill you but then as you level up you can take repeated hits with an axe no problem. It just felt weird and unbalanced. Then again I haven't really played either since 2002 so maybe the newer D&D editions are better I don't know.

And for the record if you want a true RPG experience, don't play computer RPGs ;)

Yeah NWN1 is far superior to NWN2. I just played through HotU campaign again. Man Deekin is so awesome! I wish roleplaying games had more "awkward" characters like him. I'm so bored of the typical human warrior companions you get in most RPG games. :c Mass Effect is great too, but it lacks the depth of NWN. I'm gonna try Drakensang, looks good.

@xantir Didnt see any human warrior companions in NWN2, only human paladin, No human warriors is DA or The Witcher not in KotOR-s. Only Baldurs Gate had human "warrior" companions i think if under warrior you mean fighter class :P

hi. no, not yet. You know, I'm looking for an RPG that is based on D&D universe and has all those cool monsters like BEholders, gnolls, kobolds etc. I was very sad that Dragon Age: Origin is not based on D&D universe. that's terrible.

Yeah, you're right! NWN2 is a good game, but it just "misses something".

Yeah, the characters control horribly in NWN2. Try strafing side to side, and it gets all messed up.

I loved Sands of Time, but not a huge fan of Warrior Within - too confusing with the time changing and where to go. Haven't tried The Two Thrones since I fear it is similar. The new one I want to try, but haven't had time yet.

its resolution is only up to 1360x768 why is that? is someone also having an issue like that?

No, I can go all the way to 1680 x 1050. the max resolution is somewhere in the center of the choices of resolution, not at the end like most games.

Yeah, that is more then likely the cause. I never recommend those peer-to-peer programs.

Dunno. But it certainly isn't that. Nor is your GPU's processing power in any way relevant to the resolution choices. Either you're missing a configuration option or the game enumerates your hardware improperly. There's other possible reasons, but they get more esoteric.

this game looks sweet. When it comes out, I'll definately buy it. Does it have restrictive protection issues ? (ie starforce etc...). It's plaguing games nowadays.

Yep, it uses Securom IIRC, but there is no online activation or other stuff like that. Just a CD check when you start the game. At least in the German version that is.

It sold very well in Germany and there were very few complaints about problems with the protection mechanism given the popularity of the game. So you should be fine.

I wouldn't say better ... I would say that this is like a 3D version" of Baldur's Gate. And that's a good thing, for sure.

Just keep in mind that Drakensang uses a different ruleset and a different background world since it is the adaption of a german P&P system (read: no D&D).

As far as the BG(2) comparison is concerned, why don't you just try the demo?

I played both but can't remember BG2 good enough to compare them.

You can get the demo from dtp's website (in English, just google for Drakensang or dtp). They also got an English community board there.

Jip, ein klasse Spiel, die Atmosphäre ist umwerfend! Die Musik ist himmlisch, und was das beste ist, die Synchro ist recht gut. Deutsche Entwickler muss man durch den Kauf (nicht Piraterie) unterstützen!

Killerratte, gute Übersetzung. Und man merkt, dass du Rollenspieler bist. Wer seine Waffen vor dem Betreten der Stadt abnimmt, obwohl es keine Auswirkungen im Spiel hat... ;)
