Sylvie and Agnes, to me...the BEST French ballerinas I have ever seen. Two of my favorite all time ballerinas too. I so enjoy watching Agnes perform. What a magnificent artist.
Sylvie and Agnes, the two finest ballerinas in my opinion. I could not agree with you more. The precision that is exhibited in this video is absolutely not going to be found in any other company.
I love these simple stages..I don't like it when there are soo many things onstage that you can't tell whether something is a decoration or part of the dancer's leg!! here you can see them clearly and I think it is much nicer to watch than when there are a lot of things behind them..just my opinipon
It's in English so I try to comment in english ! It's Agnes who designed the two costumes which are splendid ! for the upper body, I think it's because she is tall and she has her neck foward ! But I love both of them ! They're excellent dancers !!! the choregraphy is great, a bit humoristic and there is a game between the two dancers ! and the music is great too !!! they make a beautiful dancer couple !
I think they are dressed in the attire she designed and shows in the documentary DVD produced by CasaDei. And what a SHOW here!! I wish I knew how to make a screensaver of fhis, but I'm ignorant about these things.
The French women of this generation especially are known for having very proper and strong port de bras. If you watch the same ballerina in Le Cigarette by Serge Lifar here on youtube, she looks a bit more relaxed.
I hate how audiences always clap whenever a man does one jump, but a woman can go out there and do the most amazing things and they don't seem to even notice!!
@SonyaNatalia I think you should give men more credit. They keep you from falling over and lift you all the way throughout the adage and then have to go straight into a variation which unfortunately are mainly jumps and technical bravura rather than dancing.
@SonyaNatalia I usually feel like it is the other way around, the woman gets all the applause while the man is just 'the accompanist', nothing more, nothing special. Sad that it is like that.
This is lovely, POB has such refined, strong dancers who don't overindulge the music or put on gaudy technical shows for no reason (unlike some of Kirov/Maryinsky or Bolshoi's dancers, for instance). Letestu is also an example of a ballerina who doesn't have what are considered perfect proportions (a relatively long torso) but is lovely regardless. Her body reminds me of the wonderful Judith Fugate, NYCB principal in the 70's/80's.
Big deal-I can do this too..she says as she ponders how to build a rocket out of paper clips!!! ( interpretation..Uh..I could NEVER DO THIS! )Excellent dancers!! Time to get out my tutu..and my straight - jacket. This video should come with a warning. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!

I believe that Letestu designed her own costume, and also that of Martinez. Someone please correct me if I am wrong about this.

Letestu has beautiful legs but her upper body was bothering me; it looked so tense and her shoulders were up
happydancer1234 2 years ago 2
Letestu is such a polished dancer. She falls off pointe at 8:02, but it's hardly noticeable.
Martinez is a surprisingly good choreographer. I hope he gets some commissions outside France and Spain.
ag2322 2 years ago
If I am not mistaken Letestu designed the costumes. The music for the final variations is from Coppelia.

As it says it's by Delibes, and parts of it sound familiar to me, I think it's from the ballet "Sylvia".
