  • the first one is still the best.

  • YOU ARE AN ASS

  • "faithful to the source"??? last time I checked, there wasn't a huge battle in the Telmarine castle, there was no mysterious love afair between Caspian and Susan and the white witch doesn't actually make an appearance in the book.

then to top this off, the Telmarine armour (and especially Miraz's) is laughable, as are the talking "animals" and the for the music, they just took the battle hymn from the first narnia film and created a dozen variations and put them on a loop.

  • fantatic!! Actors are great movie is great just amazing...Best movie 4 2009/10010 MUST see? it full lenght at web/movie/tube/./com -- remove slash

  • It was a poor film

  • That movie SUCKED ASS!!

  • I actually enjoyed the film. I though it still had its charm and awe.

  • Bah!

  • @XtremeGoose i loved it too!!!! the ending made me cry so much. i really wish i can just escape the world that im in right now and meet aslan , and the other creatures. but too bad it's not real.

  • 1:06 the Plucky Brits, WTF who does this guy think he is???1:50 loses all it's charm!!! your lame, 2:03 cinematically uninspired, what a dick shut up your opinion is worth shit to me and the rest of the Narnia fans out there, so on behalf of all my Narnia buddies....this middle finger is for you Michael Phillips!!! : P This movie was brilliant I <3<3<3 you Will!!!!!

  • @WillMoseleyslover I didn't know people couldn't have their own opinions. If you love this, fine. But plenty of other people (like me) have critcisms of this movie, and we're allowed to voice them. So spin that middle finger around, lady.

P.S. Depsite my problems with the movie, I still found it to be entertaining, if not revelatory.

  • It's NOT faithful to the source!

  • actually I'd give it five stars:)

  • Phillips is a great critic. He knows this stuff.

  • yeah. i love narnia! but they did a kinda bad job on the first 2 movies. i just hope the rest narnia movies are are done a little better. for narnia! and for aslan!!!

  • This movies entertaining but it can get boring at times and also predictable but its good if you dont have anything to do on a friday night

  • yeah its giid but not that much and Im tired of all the people saying it was the best movie of the year just because the main guys are hot

  • This movie is really bad.. Maybe kids 6-10 would like it..

  • i dont care what he said the movie was great

  • MICHAEL PHILLIPS is such a asshole he knows nothing about narnia and he shoud get other job

  • hey!

  • I was personally disappointed by both the movies. In my point of view, much of the minor action was exaggerated, the characters were often irritating, and the humor was cheap.

That being said, the soundtracks have moments that really complement many of the final battle scenes, even sent a shiver or two up my spine (but don't get me started on the battle inaccuracies).

  • They can make this movie 5 stars as long as they don't make the third one full of action, it will be a good installment in the series if the next one isn't just no story and all "pg" battle scenes and love stories that make no sense...don't get me wrong, rent the thing, watch it a few times its a GOOD movie but not a phenominal one.

  • I thought the movies were addictive and spellbinding, and I've read those books forward and backwards. Also, the Prince Caspian movie ISN'T true to the book. It's still a good movie.

  • its better if you read all the books then watch, it makes more sense

  • about that thing u said when the War of Deliverance is only like 2-3 pages long in the book but seem to last longer in the movie, i just wanna comment on that one. u are looking at the book as an adult and not with the eyes of the child. even Adamson himself said he was surprised to reread the LWW for the movie because it doesn't have the element of image that he had when he was a kid. Obviously we have to remember how to become a kid again to understand the chronicles with wilder imagination.

  • Wow!! I actually liked the film. In fact, I enjoyed it a bit more than the first. Great action, darker tone with some fine touches of humor here and there. 3 1/2 stars out of 5 from me.

  • SHUT UP MICHAEL PHILLIPS!!This is the best movie ever!!!!!!Do you have anything against this movie!!??

  • @GEORGIEHENLEYROCKS Well, if you had had the patience and brainpower to listen to the review, you would have heard what he DID have against the movie. I agree with him--this barely even scrapes the surface of the true beauty of the Narnia books.

  • stupid prat. he doesn't know anything. this is the best movie ever.

  • agreed

  • Critic's are so lame XD they only like the most horrid stupid numb things just beacuse they be (to theyr own thought's), original... let's better say weird and twisted.

Retard critics need to be clear of self opinion and this review is filled to the top with he's own personal dislike for Narnia, it's too notorious...

This is a nice movie just like the first and a KIDS meant movie, so they are seeing it from a wrong perspective.

  • THANK you.

  • kid's meant? the book didn't have a love interest, this did, the book inspired with an elderly woman who had faith like it was no one's business, this excluded it, the book showed, that a character can learn from their mistakes, and be changed by a being greater than themselves, this had the main characters making dumber mistakes than than ever before.

This is not a kid's movie, unless the point is to make kids into people without character, who like violence and pride,

  • How wrong can a review get. Great CGI, Great action and great realism. The narnia fight scenes are unique, you just don't get such diversity in any others

  • Man r ur glasses foggy narnie films are AWSOME!

  • i fucking couldn't stand that movie.

you're right about that last scene, it felt so fucking long.

    two stars is too many.

  • 2 stars?? WTF!! those movies fuckin rocked!

  • two stars??? buddy, you have to change those glasses, that movie was great!!! critics wants people heve lobster all the time, but some times people just want to have a nice hamburger.

  • I thought this was good, better than The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but The Voyage of the Dawn Treder (sp?) which comes out in 2010 should be awesome, that was my favorite book of the series (besides The Last Battle)

  • amen

  • the harry potter comment was so fucking wrong

  • He obviously hasn't read the HP books, so he doesn't realize how bad the third one messed it all up.

  • This was at least 3.5 or 4 more stars no a measely 2 stars.

  • edmunds a douchebag

  • haha

  • i don't see why a less than mediocre film deserves above 2 stars

considering it's on a 4 star rating scale, 2 stars is sufficient

maybe even giving it more than it's worth considering it hasn't improved from the first

  • I'd give it about from 1-5 about a 3 and a half cause it was an awesome movie but they left out so many things from the book. The action was great and Prince Caspian was wicked hott, but if they had kept to the book it probally would have been 5 stars.

  • it wasn't as spectacular as the first one, but deserves more than 2 stars.

  • these people think that these films will always be all Enchanted and magic instead of being serious and dark

thats what this movie does:gets darker and serious instead of being enchanted-ish

  • i wuld give this 4 and a half stars it was confusing during parts but it was really good i think ths guy an only give out 3 and a half stars no highter

  • 2 Stars is not a fair rating...not at all.

  • Richard Roeper agreed with Michael on Ebert & Roeper, saying it has too much fights and not enough magic... ;¬_¬

  • LOL What??? The Harry Potter films keep getting better *yawns* everyone one of those films are exactly the same, back to school, break the rules, voldawhateva, harry saves the day whoopee they're ok i guess.

Still gonna see Narnia 2, can't wait!!!

  • Loved this movieee....

it should have more than 2 star!!!

  • I LIKE IT! END OF

  • it was good so w/e

  • sorry but I've got point this out. Speed Racer is kicking Narnia and Indiana Jones' butts! I loved the movies and am still planing on seeing Narnia, but it just strikes me as awesome that Speed Racer is getting better reviews from this guy. Aw well, that critics for ya, a little to edgy and in need of a serious humor adjustment.

  • 2 stars out of what? 4? 5?... 3?

  • Four

  • @johanne6699 out of 4.

  • Of course.Theyre close so there's always gonna be similarities. But their stories are so good.So thank God for the Ingklings.

  • well, think of it this way ... would you really be saying it was a great fight scene if it lasted no more than 5 - 10 minutes? no. In fact that would probably make everyone who saw this movie disappointed. Also, 2 stars? surely this film is worth more - directors don't always feel it's necessary to fill in those tiny gaps, they just want to show the movie and hope that everyone who saw it is satisfied, be a bit more easy on these movies - a lot of your reviews are very harsh.

    Pythonman7

  • This is a fuckin joke. This is one of the only movies out there that keeps this close to the book. Extremely well adapted.

Plus they can't spell chronicles @00:40

Remind me never to watch one of their reviews.

  • at 00:40 they forgot to put an h at chronicles

what kind of idiots work at the chicago tribune

    lol

  • Speed Racer got more stars than Narnia? Is this a joke? Am I supposed to laugh?

    lol?

  • Yes.I suppose we should LOL

  • Although it was written first The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is sequentially the SECOND of the Narnia books by CS Lewis.

That's just a pet peeve of mine.

  • Everybody at Illuminati Pictures LOVED this movie. I think Phillips is way off.

  • I don't know what this guy is talking about. I love harry potter, but unlike Potter, the narnia movies are better than their books.

  • maybe this guy hated the movie caz he has no imagination

think of this u asshole. If they put the book in the movie where it followed the book exactly, then it will be shorter and it will be boring. But the director made it more entertaining and more adventurous. If the battle lasted 5 minutes then no one would bother seeing this movie. So think before you speak

    BITCH!

  • Faithful to the source, my ass. Have you ever read the books, savant?

  • michael phillips you are on e of my favorite critics.not this time and when you reviewed horton hear a who

  • I review this movie

  • please dont make another movie review.

you dont know a good movie even it bit you in the face.

this movie kept to the spirit of the book. thats it. thats all that matters. PERIOD.

  • I hate this man!!!!

  • I agree with Both Kasley and Bigmon.

As far as I am concerned; If you are a Fantisy Lover and you go there just to take you away from the reality of your current life, then you will enjoy this movie.

But, if you go to this film with HUGE Expectations and a AMAZING movie, then it will most likly fall short.

This is just going to be a nice change in pace when it comes to movies.

Not to mention, they are far better then the Atheist approach of "The Golden Compass"

    Max

  • I am with bigmon311 that did inspire a whole new generation of film makers some people may have not liked it but lots of other people did.

  • you guys wouldnt know good film if it was on your teeth..these are great films that inspired a whole new generation of film makers..
