As the North East becomes increasingly a one party region like the South East, as long as the Democrats hold onto the Presidency there is no reason to have the moderate/liberal Rockefeller Republicans anymore. Maine seems to be the last holdout.
Of course Specter isn't just a moderate Rockefeller Republican, he's the senior Jewish Republican, without him the only Jewish Republican is that goofball from Virginia. So I can't see him getting replaced.
