My grandmother dated him in high school, back when it was Charlestown Highschool- Not Fall Mountain Regional High School- Unforunately, his father past away a few weeks ago, and it was the biggest turn out of people in his home town.
Wish there was actual footage of the video like Willie Mays the Catch. I like how he did the wave and jumping when his hands were pointed to the sky. One of the greatest moments in baseball history.
My hat's off to Red's pitcher Pat Darcy. He won a slot in the starting rotation in spring training, but began the season 1-5 and was sent to the bullpen for middle/long relief. After the Gullet injury in July (broken thumb), Sparky put Darcy back in the rotation and he won ten straight, finishing the regular season 11-5. God he was fun to watch during that streak. Compared to that, giving up this HR barely registers.
@Tecumseh1812 You're right on! Why make such a big deal about this 1 Home Run? It only tied the Series at 3-3. Big Red machine still won it all the next night. That's what most people remember.
The camera stayed on Fisk after the ball was hit because the camera man saw a huge rat in the camera booth and it was starting to come toward him causing him to lose track of the ball. It turned out to be one of the most memorable sports shots captured on film. Funny how things work out.
what is the song in the background?

Carlton Fisk's home run was memorable enough, but it would have been even more had the Red Sox won the World Series.
