@JEREMYblurrfan Sold 3 years ago (before the recession) for around $15,900 I think. A car like this in this condition would sell for closer to $10,000 today.
That would be for the power locks, which were still optional through 1987. Looks pretty much the same as all the power window switches on other GM cars, so it's easy to confuse the two :)
i got my 79 for 4500 but of course there is thing wrong with it, like the directional bar is loose, just like this one, and mine has t-tops that are mirrored on the outside and doesnt have a spoiler, as well as weather stripping dying out, buy the engine compartment looks nothing like that xD and is definately not as clean, horn and e-brakes pretty dont work but pretty much everything else does.. nice car
You can thank the EPA for that. They mandated that everyone start putting tiny camshafts and restrictive heads, as well as unnecessary emissions equipment on all passenger cars starting in 1971. Things didn't start getting better until the late 1980s. If you think 225hp isn't much, try a 1975 Corvette with the factory 165hp rating. Even the 1979 Ferrari 308 only put out 240hp.
Yeah, the cars did have more torque than horsepower, but still this engine was only rated at 270 lb ft. Oddly enough, the base engine (195hp) was rated higher at 285 lb ft. The factory rated horsepower and torque the same for 4 speed and automatic cars.
NIcely done presentation! I got a very genuine vibe from you when you were explaining the specs and condition of the car. You sound like a true, down to earth car enthusiast, not some jackass trying to show off. 5 Stars!
Wow, thanks for the compliment! We definitely strive to give as much information on our cars as possible in the videos, and we are pretty much all enthusiasts. Thanks for watching!
A/C systems in these cars were probably not bad for their time, but they simply can't compete with modern units. Remember that air conditioning was still a luxury in 1968 when these cars first debuted, so perhaps the engineers didn't spend quite as much time on the system as they should have. Non-a/c Vettes still make great Fall/Winter cars for us here in the south though!
I own a dark blue 79 L82 four speed vette. I love it. I think the 79 vette is one of the most beautiful cars made. I also own a 55 Chevy. The 79 vette and 55 Chevy are 2 of my all time favorite cars.
I have an 80 vette all original 80,000 mls with that sweet 4 spd. Even though it is nutless, the 4 spd makes it feel alittle better.Sure love gen 3 vettes. They have the best body lines period.
Yes, the slotted aluminum wheels were an extra-cost option through 1982. The standard wheels were the steel Chevrolet rallys with trim rings, which had been standard since 1967. The standard wheels became less and less common up through '82 as well.
Bottom line is, it's still a numbers matching and code correct paint L82 Corvette...words like "nice" and 'great" are completely subjective. So, from my point of view, this is still a "nice" car, possibly just because it's a very correct L82 car, which is definitely something I personally hold in high regard; however, that doesn't necessarily mean it's perfect cosmetically or otherwise :)
i find it funny how like almost every thing that is wrong after he says it still sills nice great car i have one well my dad does i love the car he has had it since he was 20
Man, what a car, it's my dream car, without a doubt, even the color is right, the only problem is the automatic transmission, but that can be changed anyway.
how much is this car?

pabstman57 2 years ago
All 1968-82 Corvettes with power windows had the controls on the center console. This car was no different.

yup.. my 79 has the even worse 195 hp.. but it gets the job done
dasad226688 2 years ago
does it have alot of torque or is that low too because then it would be so bad and 195hp is that with an auto or 4 speed
