  • @Misteremg i think Lupe borrowed it but its all good. his mixtape is hott too!

  • @TheMikaelangelo Ah ok, thanks for the info. either way both tracks are dope.

  • I remember reading the tainted Source Magazine around the time this album dropped. For some reason they reviewed it in the "Alternative Listening" column treating it like it wasn't hip hop enough to be sectioned in the regular album reviews.I guess it wasn't ignorant enough to earn their respect. It's a damn shame how the majors just shunned artistic integrity.

  • J Dilla.

  • @seboufdu59 RIP forever King of the Beats

  • All I listen too is old school track all this new shit is shit.

  • R.I.P Hip Hop these days aint the same. All hip pop shit sound the same Lil Wayne and Drake some of the fakest rappers commercial no love for music or hip hop culture all they sayn is the same thing over and over. Only ones holdn it down is Lupe and Immortal Technique with real messages real lyrics

  • I love this beat son.

  • Freestyle: So many different motto's and looks So how you judging the book and haven't read it in depth, Judging it by the cover.. Disrespecting your brother and of course from the disrespect from bashing instead of trying to build those who's time is next. The result iz the youth peeped all of that and decided cause of the lack of guidance that itz all about cashing checks.. Thats right what you call hip hop they call rap, Think back when you was a young cat and ya folks was like what is that

  • @redtre125 So, very true!! You speak truth.

  • this is straight bumpin.....

  • DILLA!!!

  • rip j dilla

  • This is from 2004, not too long ago. This was during the rise of Little Brother, Kanye, and the rest of the dudes holdin down the 2000's. There actually was a lot of good music.

Hip Hop is still alive. It never went anywhere. Now we just have this stupid "Rap" shit which is essentially the form of hip hop minus the creativity and spirit and replaced with banging out commercial paychecks to the industry.

You want real 2011 Hip Hop? Go listen to Shabazz Palaces (Butterfly of Digable Planets)

  • Hip-hop aint dead man

  • I listen to this to get away from the bullshit.

  • @ShadFiascoTSU I swear right? I be in the zone on this joint. If this dont make your head nod...you might wanna check your pulse.

  • I don't listen to hip-hop, but I was always impressed with all these various artists that performed on Chappelle's Show. This track in particular just reminds of my middle school days staying up late and watching it, I was actually moved by this performance. It's really nostalgic and haunting to listen to it again, brings back sooo many fond memories, how euphoric.

  • @VolcanosGoBoom very true!

  • @VolcanosGoBoom one thing man.. u cant listen to hip hop cause it's a culture not a music ;) keep it in your mind

  • 718^^

  • RIP JONAS LRG FOREVER!!! 714

  • Imagine, one day this will be a classic... People say the scenes "gone" with "good" music, but its only began. HipHop will thrive forever, but i cant be certain about Rap.

  • 16 dislike, really???? whats wrong with y'all

  • i've been lokin' 4 this track lotta years ago... the only thing that reminds me this track is . revolution is near

  • Yo this is my SHIT! #ThatIsAll

  • SUMTIMES WHEN I LOOK AT THESE UTUBE COMMENTS, WIT' PEOPLE ASSERTING THEMSELVES AND SAYING STUFF, IT IS FUNNY TO IMAGINE THAT SOME OF THESE COMMENTS ARE WRITTEN BY 5 YEARS OLDS WHO REALLY CARE ABOUT THIS STUFF, WHO ARE REALLY ARDENT ABOUT THIS NONSENSICAL-COMMON KNOWLEDGE.

HIP HOP IS A GHOST ON SUPERCOMPUTERS, NAH ONE IS RECORDING ANYTHING WITH A VOICE, ITS A COMPUTER SAMPLE OF OUR SOUL.

  • The most annoying thing about hip-hop is that there is a grand canyon-like divide between fans of the various sub-genres. If you're a real fan your age has nothing to do with it. Damn, if you like this, cool. Continue listening, spread the word and share this with your friends. None of us are arbiters of art, thus we cannot decide what is or isn't "real music." You don't like Drake and Wayne, great, than you and I have something in common but otherwise STFU about being young and enjoying this.

  • Simply put, I love this shit

  • Yummy Bingham's voice is absolutely amazing_

  • Yummy Bingham's voice is absolutely amazing_

  • the world would be much better if music like this was heard more often.

  • who tha fuck disliked this...

  • Theres very few artists in the mainstream who have credibility in my opinion, Lupe is one of them

  • uplifting beats, uplifting samples ready to take off and leave the ground!!!

  • I've gotta say..I hear Lil' Wayne, Drake, etc. joints all the time, I like some of them..but the old hip-hop had so much consistency!...almost every song gives me something new, tells me a story, gives me insight, and very rarely is self-aggrandising as the new breed of rappers out..now it's all about "I always knew that I would make it", etc.

  • Yummy is so fucking hott!

  • type in de la soul chappelle show, it's hot

  • this shit BUMPSSSS lol - I know it's been said 1000 times but why can't music like this be on the radio, they slippin in the biz lol

  • Thank you Dave Chappelle

  • fuck the mainstream shiet !

  • Stop mentioning these new fucking queer hip hop guys lets get buzzed of the song

  • @fasterfaster187 It's "Love Ballad" by Patti Labelle. original is more high-fi and glossy 90s IMO, the sample packs more punch

  • @l337saget55 I dont know if the sample is patty lbelle cuz i have the OG sample but dont remember what it is :/

  • @l337saget55 its LTD featuring Jeffrey Osborne

  • @l337saget55 Dilla sampled "Love Ballad" by LTD, not Patti's Version. Dilla used filters to shape the sound of the sample.

  • @xlmidi thanks! listening now, makes more sense :D

  • To all the kids bragging that they listen to 90s and underground, theres millions of you out there and none of you are unique. Welcome To Real Hip Hop

  • @carlmarxx I disagree, hardly anybody under 15 listens to real hip hop anymore. You might find only one or two at any given middle school that knows who De La Soul are. I applaud those kids for having good taste in music.

  • @carlmarxx lmao

  • @carlmarxx hahah yahh kids always do that, dont try and be different just listen to your grooves. i like this stuff more, cause i like the feel better, not cause i think im bein awesome and unique ha.

  • Comment removed

  • Kanye, Diddy, and Drake need to take a lesson from these guys. 90's alternative hip hop needs a revival, somebody betta step up.

  • no producer can NEVER get to dilla's toes

  • @newshyheim9 lmao yo i said the same shit my homie talking bout DR DRE a better producer i wanted to SLAP! the nigga out his ass horrible

  • @K5GIXX Haha Word man

  • Gotta love LTD

  • another j-dilla beat.

  • i love that lupe fiasco sampled this.

  • @dmvillainess .......what song of his samples this?

  • @fasterfaster187 clearly you don't listen to lupe fiasco if you have to ask step your music game up cause that song is OLD.

  • Lighter shade of brown and Tupac should be added to the list...

  • Add to that list some Pharcyde, Hieroglyphics, Souls of Mischief, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Channel Live, Das EFX, KRS 1, Dead Prez, Paris, The Coup, Rappin 4Tay, Brand Nubian, Rakim....I could go on

  • De La are fucken legends in this industry.

  • in my mind's eye the vision get's blurry so i cry out the morning cold and try to keep the faith feelin like mya angelou and still i rise. No matter the status my nose never too high cause i remember when i was just gettin by. like the average guy, but impowered from the most high. so of course every thing is and always alright.... quick freestyle to the end of the song

  • Is it blasphemous to say I like the lupe version better?

  • only one thing you can say to the dislikers of this song...

"are you listening? are you ear drums open for christening?"

  • This beat is ridiculous man. cuuuuuuuuuud lol

  • R.I.P., J. Dilla!

  • Sampled hip hop will destroy sequenced beats any day. So much more organic.

  • i love this song check out 26wayz-ent did to this beat de la soul be happy so check it out cha;;;

  • Just dont know how Dilla does it...

    man with mysteries... :)

  • how do you find this video then dislike it.

  • hip hop aint dead...u jus gotta seperate real from fake!

  • mainstream don't understand...

this music is feel good music! good for the soul

  • Greatest hip hop track of all time.

  • Let us reclaim the topic. There isn't a need to bring up that other ish thus giving it more exposure. Saying this is real hip hop implies that other ish is wac hip hop ie your commercial pop. That isn't @ all hip hop. Only Hip Hop is. Dont make the mistake of even mentioning these radio entertainers in the real. There is no comparision.

  • dilla

  • I've been listening to De La, A Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village, J-Dilla, The Pharcyde, Madlib and anything else with some real soul since I was 11, I'm currently 15, don't lose all hope in my generation, some of us still listen to GOOD music.

  • New rap music is making the US retarded.

  • @Mattu190 the fuck? thats not true.. im from austria and trust me... german rap is fucked up, but even here you can still find good artists.. i bet its the same in the US i mean spose, asher roth, sonreal (ok hes canadian but still there are plenty of good emcees you just gotta search for them!

  • @DasBeda Yes I know but the vast majority of the mainstream which 90% of the rap audience in the US listen to is historically the most retarded wave that I can't even comprehend how it is popular. It's like Larry the Cable Guy is the highest grossing comedian its like people today want to go backwards or something. Asher Roth and those guys aren't the best of the new wave listen to mos def, talib kweli, lupe fiasco, and common they are much much better.

  • Real rap music or shall i say hip hop for the new generation...we educate through the music and they tryn to peep our slang and use it against us, but we will forever rise like the phoenix from the fire....

  • Yeah Back in the day there was lots of good music. Nowa days theres still banging music but its pushed aside by everyone. So i definelly wouldnt say hiphop "these" days sucks. My 2 cents..

  • this is some true dope ass shit right here. straight from the heart yo. Just feel the beat and flow with it dawgs

  • im 17 im sick you you dudes downgrading mainstream music if you dont like it then school these kids show them this support the albums stop talkin shit on youtube and support these artist i love all music mainstream at times is dope this is real hip hop that i love but you guys complain too much with helping change it

  • Real shit!

  • I'm only 18 years old. But I fucking LOVE the old Hip Hop. I hate everyone else my age raving about the newest Lil Wayne or Gucci Mane joint.

    De La

    A Tribe Called Quest

    DJ Premier

    Nas

    Common

    Pete Rock

    J Dilla

Props to every other young cat out there bumping real Hip Hop.

  • @andyjb49

    And outkast!

  • @andyjb49 Im in the same position... these guys need der eyes opened

  • @andyjb49

  • @andyjb49 And this one isn't even very old.

  • @andyjb49

thank god you got some brains kid......you got a ton missing from that list but your on a good start! and Lil Wayne can eat a dick!

  • @missjenn35 Ha thanks. Yeah, I'm aware of pretty much every rapper. Even the wack ones - I could have listed off way more, but this is a De La video, and I couldn't be bothered to mention trash.

  • @andyjb49 same here bro! cant stand our music!

  • @andyjb49 lol, some of the new stuff is good, but more young'n got to eat they vegetables maaan! teach them.

  • @andyjb49 hell yeah bro
