@vampyros1 Tony Bourge didn't even play guitar on the original album version of this song, the riffs and such were made by John Thomas, and while he is not as awesome as Bourge, hes still pretty cool.
@vampyros1 Though honestly while Simon Lees and Craig Goldy do have a interesting vibe in Budgie I will always prefer Tony Bourge.... wish he would join up again just for at least one gig.... probably never gonna happen sadly.
@DoomMetalSludge Well you know, he just set the bar so incredibly high. What a melodic player whose choice of notes was near incomparable. He filled out a power trio amazingly well, 'serving the song' instead of his ego ..... 'Impeccable' was just that. That phase of Budgie along w/JHE are the pinnacle for 3 piece guitar driven bands, imho.
@vampyros1 Ah yes someone who digs Impeckable as much as I do! I agree, Tony Bourge is such a champ. My favorite guitar player of all time is Tony Iommi, but that is pretty much because of the nostalgia factor surrounding him in my life. But Tony Bourge is pretty fucking close and in some ways much more versatile of a player then most of the big name guitarists of the 70's.
@DoomMetalSludge You kiddin' me ... I consider Impeckable to be one of the greatest recordings ever! And Burke was a big part of the equation too, not to mention Williams ... a tour de force. Iommi is always great to hear, no doubt. And Schenker, and Roth, and Marino, and ......
@vampyros1 If ya ever get the chance, check out the "Heavier than Air" compilation, which highlights the amazing lineup of Burke Shelley, Tony Bourge, Steve Williams and Myfyr Isaac on tracks 3-12 on disc 2. In my opinion its the tightest sounding version of Budgie ever! They do this really awesome medley which includes "In For The Kill/You're The Biggest Thing Since Powdered Milk/Rocking Man" and also perform many other amazing songs!
Steve Williams on drums, who have been there since Pete Boot left Budgie after his only album "In for the Kill" in 74`
Simom Lees on guitar, replaced Big John Thomas in 2001,Simon Lees also resigned Budgie with hard feelings on the 4 july 2007because he wanted to pay more attention to his guitarstudents..Dio`s lead guitarist and songwriter Craig Goldy offered his services as a replacement while Dio working with Black Sabbath on Heaven & Hell tour..
I love the way you put it - technically proficient!!! - an artist might feel a bit put out by that. but we know what you mean. Budgie are a band worth seeing that's for sure.

These guys are technically proficient with their instruments. Budgie is way ahead of their time in terms of music.
