@bobhaha No i wouldnt do that if I where you, what can happen is when you place it on the over head projector and turn it on it can mealt the Lcd screen after about 40 seccond's
I made a 1080p projector, was total crap.. I ended up buying a epson 705hd for $600 bucks and a high gain screen.. the projector was already bright, when I added the screen it doubled the brightness.. its 720p, but I honestly can't tell much of a difference in that and 1080.. dont waste your money and time on this crap here.
You should have used a replacement lamp for theatre and movie set lights. They are quartz halogens, you can get daylight balanced bulbs, and they are 575 typically. So yeah....they're pretty effing bright
Wow, that is some long ass work for such lowsly looking light display. Srsly? Not worth it. To big, to much money, and the end result was... geh.
I would have more luck on ebay if I had 500 bucks. What pisses me off is, they never actually showed it working. (that's right viewers, don't watch it till the end like I did. Skip right to the end. They stand in front of it for like 10 seconds, and the clip ends. Pfft.)
This video is brilliant a +10 score diy video projectors. The lamps are ridiculous overpriced on some model projectors that get used often and you have to be rich and shameless to own a +10grand projector. Xenon lamps for cinemas have short service life and they cost a damn sight more so let’s forget about that.
Great show but wish it was condensed perhaps cut out table saw cutting and measuring its taking forever to load ,if a person cant cut wood on their own they dont need to be making anything !
Can you use a smaller screen, say from an iPhone, and make this thing way smaller? It seems like the size comes from the fact that your flat panel is so large. You could also save a ton of money by buying a smaller triplet, because you'd need less coverage. I would also think that using a bulb meant for a 16mm projector would save energy and space as well (also 5600K). This wouldn't really work if you were trying to project on a 20ft wall, but then you'd probably have enough $ to buy a TV.
Ok then it doesn't save me money, it wastes more energy.. Umm I would say go **** ur self but send I'm 13 and I don't say much bad words I'm just gonna say ur no help at all
wow that is long winded. two easy ways to do. 1. buy a long shelf from a diy store and pay a couple of pound for extra cuts to get the shelf cut into 4 sides and two ends. cost £10 kids telescope for the lens £5 lcd off a psone £5 halogen lamp £5 heat paint £5 pc fans £5 cost £35 build time2 hours. parts to upgrade for better quality halide lamp £50-£80 hd lcd £100 lumenlab used to sell the kits but unsure if they still do. or for a 30min build lookup overhead projector
I would like to talk to you about hd projectors. We will be developing a 5 1/2 acre themepark in Jackson, Ms. And we are looking to install several 4' X 8' (80-100 THROUGHT OUT THE PROPERTY. Plus we will have several 16' x24' and one large outdoor unit that need to be 24' x 40' screen. Please call if possible 1-601-291-8203.
I have a thought of taking a single bulb that can work 3 different shots at the same time using three different LCD panels.
Greetings from Home Vu Projectors. Not a bad video, some useful information. The only thing I dont like about LCD is the heat produced and the fans required to cool them. Our new LED projectors run much cooler, and can input 2 HDMI devices. Compared to LCD, they dont get hot at all. 50,000 hour lamp. Cool stuff.
luminlab don't sell kits now a days, I built a PJ Years ago from there and is still up and running, I will be upgrading it maby this summer to a new box besign. :)
Now you can get TRUE 1080p (non-upscaling) projectors under 1000$, for example the Optoma HD20, you can search it here on youtube. They provide quite good quality for that price.
cant beleive i spend all this time watching this bs....on the other hand did anybody notice that the fat bald man in red didnt do shit,or helped in any way besides pusing the wood through the cutter,,,,,lmfao
If they paid over $500 on the LCD only and spending $700 total, it would be cheaper just to go on eBay or CraigsList to get a nice 720p or 1080p.........
It's the lamp life that makes the difference. 20,000hrs for £30 as opposed to around £300 for a commercial replacement lamp which lasts a tenth of the time.
I disagree with how clean the lenses have to be. True that way to much dirt and junk may reduce the image. But I've done my own experiments with this and the focal point of the light is not at the lens so there for the dirt won't be in focus and won't matter. Anybody who has a projector try this. Take a piece of string and hold it infront of the lens and see how much makes a difference. now imagine a piece of fuzz or spec of dirt.
That air gap was not the best idea. It allows dust to enter and accumulate, and also blowing the hot air out the front could actually make the plastic melt faster.
Filtered vent holes on both sides would be better. Big ones.

wow thats bad, you must not of alligned the bulb correctly. i made my own diy 720p projector out of a old overhead projector and it was way brighter using a 360 watt halogen. trust me this projector, with the 250-400watt metal halide bulb should be way, way brighter than the brightest tv\projector out.

If that bulb gets so hot, why not just use a 4 by 4 array of CFL's? It would use 240 fewer watts, and not be as hot.
