Marvels films are consistently good, and DC's films are consistently bad. But DC has Batman going for them, and he alone makes better movies than any of Marvels films. So in my opinion, The Dark Knight Rises > The Avengers.

I think both and hope that they are both fantastic films. TDKR comes out 2,5 monts after that, so they can't show that much because it's mostly unfinished footage.. The Avengers is a true comic book movie, it has the feel of the comics yet adds touches of realism to appeal to more fans. It's supposed to be an action movie with corny catchphrases and over the top excitement. Nolan's films are in a different category, so don't compare them.

The Avengers.. yeah, I'm excited for it, but I feel like there will too many characters to really work with them. Already, in the preview, Loki's been downgraded to a typical villain, not really his angle from "Thor". I have a feeling that they'll be plenty of pretty pictures but not much substance.

These are all pretty general but this is just what I think based on how much the movies preveous to these made(they are all sequels except for the new spiderman,but the other spidey series made alot of money)

The Dark Knight made $1 billion for DC. That's more than any other superhero film. DC has the best critically acclaimed comic book, The Watchmen under their belt and DC movies have won nearly 5 Oscars while Marvel has a total of 0. That covers movies and comic books. What about video games? Arkham City. DC > Marvel. Easy

@pandas696969 It looks like that cause The Avengers is coming out pretty soon. So they can show a lot more because of that. They are almost done making it.. TDKR comes out 2,5 monts after that, so they can't show that much because it's mostly unfinished footage.. I think there'll be more action in TDKR cause TDKR has a budget of 250 million and The Avengers has a budget of 220 million.

The Avengers is a true comic book movie, it has the feel of the comics yet adds touches of realism to appeal to more fans. It's supposed to be an action movie with corny catchphrases and over the top excitement. Nolan's films are in a different category, so don't compare them.

I think both this movies are equal in their own separate way...they are both going to do good and it's hard to say who's gonna win...the dark knight rises is more for adults and not all kids can watch, while avengers will be kid friendly. It just all depends on the people and how good the movies are. Here are my predictions for how much money each movie will make(domesticly not worldwide)
The dark knight rises 450m-480m
The avengers 350m-440m
Ghost rider:spirit of vengeance 80m-100m
Wrath of the titans 140m-180m
MIB3 150m-300m
The amazing spiderman 170m-220m
These are all pretty general but this is just what I think based on how much the movies preveous to these made(they are all sequels except for the new spiderman,but the other spidey series made alot of money)

In the third, it looks to be themes of societal inequality and rising up for your cause. The Avengers don't require you to bring your brain. The cliche action poses, cheesy music, constant explosions, and silly one liners are very much in line with the cartoons and lack depth. Nolan's batman is far superior. It's not "grown up," it's just more appealing to adults.
