It's a problem with that Japanese consonant: it's neither an L nor an R, it's exactly halfway between them. That's why some people spell it L and some R.

At any rate, I think it's safe to say the "official" standard/convention is to use R, 'cos we write "karate" and not "kalate", "samurai" and not "samulai", "sayonara" and not "sayonala" etc.

So her name should be spelt "Revy".
