@shgp1956 I have more than ten years Exile on Main Street in my collection.I know their music from when I was 7 years old,or so,via my brothers’ collection.Never bought anything else.Read autobiography of Richards, Life.In which he tells that Exile is probably the best they ever made.Jagger and Richards wrote brilliant songs, and Richards was inventive on this 5 string open tuning.After that,4 example when he walked into the court room with tomb stones in his eyes, he never made something alike.

It's common knowledge that Richards began using capos in the late 60's, possibly for the tonal qualities one achieves in flat keys that would otherwise contain no open or ringing strings.

I gave up expecting anything truly surprising from the Stones a while back.....but their output from their 2nd album until Goats head entitles them to the status they enjoy in my opinion.

PAULLONDEN, Keef has played with capo on Jumping Jack Flash live since 1972.

He wants to play the riff in open-g tuning, and as the song is in the key of B - the only way he can play it that way is to use capo on 4th fret.

Keep in mind the capo songs take up less than half of a regular Stones concert, maybe about a third. What next, does Ronnie use a glass slide 'cause his fingers are too weak to fret properly?.

I know us struggling guitar players seem like know-it-all-killjoys, but fuck man, this shit ain't hard to look up. Googling "open tunings and capo" ain't gonna fucking kill ya.

Sorry, but your wrong. Voodoo Lounge and A Bigger Bang are top-notch records, full of well-written songs. They can't make Exile again, been there done that. There live shows, while not @ the peak of the '81 tour, are still better than most other bands, plus they dig into the well even for stadium shows.
