  • Dixie Chicks rock!!! Natalie where are you, I miss you.

  • olálá...Cristian Slater and Sharon Stone:-)...and a good song from Dixie Chicks

  • lxxxvkll del 2012

  • omggg i love the dixie chickss, whooooooooooooooooooo, and i like sipping tea, reminds me of the time i had a dream i was in a tree, then i found a squirrel, hes my best friend now and we share easy silence

  • such a beautiful song, natalie looks absolutely stunning.

  • I recommend watching Shut Up and Sing, which is the documentary on the Dixie Chicks. I absolutely loved this movie! It shows that they do, in fact, write a lot of their own songs and all the background on what went down with the president remarks and stuff! Really good watch!

  • @omacphee2 I agree this movie truly made me understand what happened and made me appreciate the Dixie Chicks even more. You can never count on hearsay or gossip so if you want the real facts watch the movie and try not to judge but be understanding. :)

  • @omacphee2 I agree. I watched it on TV and have pre-ordered the DVD.

  • love u more than ever hands

  • Sharon = such a babe.

  • This is literally the only country music that I can handle. They're just so talented.

  • I miss these three girls together. Now they got a new duo with the other two girls called the "Court Yard Hounds" I miss Natalie though :(

  • Wow, the nine people that disliked this really need to think about their taste in music... these girls are absolutely beautiful inside and out! <3

  • This song resonates so much with me. Being sexually abused as a child for many years relationships tend to be very difficult. My boyfriend right now is perfect, and I've been able to really trust him the best I can for now, and he knows the whole story and understand what I am going through. He isn't trying to fix me, he is just here. Being supportive, listening and loving me. Support is the foundation of healing- no matter the problem.

    Fantastic song.

  • @DA2FS Very brave. Glad u got a happy ending.

  • skip to 0:30 to get on the part you really want to hear...

  • I just heard this song..i know, i'm late but i love it!!

  • Dubya was a horrible person/president. He started two wars, ruined the American economy, made it OK to be dumb and powerful and helped to break up this wonderful, wonderful band. Shame on him...twice...:)

  • I love this song. My daughter and her dance team are doing there lyrical dance to this in anaheim. It is such a beautiful dance.

  • P.S. That lump in your throat... it's shared by the overwhelming number of people who made this album a history-making mega-success story.

It's called the truth. That's what the truth feels like. It hurts. Even when it makes you happy... because the strongest moment we ever know is when we face vulnerability. Sometimes our own...

  • @sweetslapdog Wow. Beautifully said. Very true.

  • Ok, so someone thinks they understand the publishing game, I see. Well, before it's published & becomes "product" it begins as "art". Forget your perception of the music business,,, which is the ugliest of businesses, and remember that innocent place inside yourself that loved music without keeping one eye on writing credit or the bottom line.

If you close your eyes & listen it's obvious that, at least lyrically, this is the Chicks' throughout. BTW, they're the ones doing the heavy lifting.

  • Dixie Angels

  • @kbmcel1 I am glad :)

  • The Dixie Chicks were all the rage on the radio and with the rednecks I worked with at t he point she made those comments. I couldn't stand them because they were "pop" culture. Once the comments were made, and they wouldn't back down, I gained a whole new respect for them. Then they came out with "The Long Way Around" album. I love these very talented ladies. And that album will always be on my personal top ten list.

  • nice!

  • These women are the coolest people ever in the music world!!! I just love them!

  • THIS SONG IS EPIC!!!

  • I've played this 98 times in a month. I think it's my favourite. I love the missionaries trying to find the next one they can crucify. Sounds like the powers of the world to me. Any of you think so too?

  • I love that they spoke out and never backed down. The upside is a truly great album came out of a very difficult time. That album is on another level and so are they!

  • What a beautiful, moving song. It sures tells you that they went through an extremely difficult, hurtful time. Shame on those who spoke and acted in such a cruel way. What they did was FAR worse than what Natalie said. What she said had no impact on the president (as if it was something that millions of people weren't already saying). But what those people who turned against these ladies had an serious impact on their lives. Thats behaviour is alot worse in my book. Shame on you!

  • @Msdistarr I couldn't agree more. My family has always served our country. Both my brothers went to Viet Nam and my Dad was is WW2, they risked their live for freedom of speech. No wonder country music is the way it is. Toby and the boys need to get over themselves, I can't understand why everyone is so threatened by strong women! Chicks rule!

  • @MsChemicalEngineer I agree. The thought process and actions of some people REALLY scares me. Look at how people behaved after a comment. Could you imagine what some of these folks would do if it were something alot worse than someone voicing their opinion? Scares the hell out of me. I'm sure I'll get some nasty-grams for making this remark but hey, I spoke my peace and they have the RIGHT to speak theirs. P.S. give my thanks to your family for fighting for our rights. :)

  • @Msdistarr You're very welcome. As far as thought processses, I seriously doubt that you could characterize what they do as thinking! I guess that I think that anyone who paid $15 per CD, then just threw them away scares me. I could understand giving them away or selling them, but throwing them out? I'm sure you're right about the reaction of some people to your opinion, but Bush went to war for oil, and many people have been killed and maimed, it's fact, I wonder what their reaction to that is?

  • @MsChemicalEngineer I'm sure you will find out (their reaction) LOL

  • Beautiful! I am going to translate the song to Hebrew.

  • Dixie chicks exercised their right that is one-hundred percent spelled out in the first amendment of the Bill of Rights of our United States Constitution, and that is the right of Freedom of Speech. Ironically enough, most of the same people that hated/still do hate the Dixie Chicks are the ones panicking because Fox News told them their guns are going to be taken away. Its ok for them to restrict rights but they don't want any of theirs restricted.

  • I love this song. so much. the dixie chicks are such proud, strong, powerful women. I listen to them when i feel like I can't do something, because I look at the dixie chicks, and I realize that they went through controversy, and still managed to come out on top. amazing song. amazing artists.

  • Such a beautiful and heartbreaking song. I love these girls and it's such a shame what they went through because of one comment.

  • people should just forget about what the girl said, yeh sure it was stupid, but SO wut! forgive and forget!! lets hear them on the radio like crazy again! get rid of Lady gaga and music like that! bring on feel good honest, no bad word music! (please do not respond to this comment. thank you)

  • @SalutationsTitan Yeah you can tell you believe in free speech, you bastard. They are still ashamed of bush's term and they probably always will be.

  • Can't wait for a new album - I need more Dixie Chicks music .

  • I didn't know Martie and Emily started a new band!! Anyone else heard of Court Yard Hounds? I guess they're doing this side project while Natalie takes a break...You can listen to their new album on music . aol . com/new-releases-full-cds/#/1 (without the spaces, obviously). Enjoy! :)

  • 'The way you keep the world at bay for me', that's all we all really want right? Someone we can share our lives with, with whom we feel totally safe. No-one has ever put it better, gotta love those chicks!!!

  • i never understood why so many people crucified them for saying what they believed even when they probably knew it would make a few people upset, and yet there's these people like TK saying the 'right thing' ,whether he believes it or not, and praised for all the sudden writing music that'll help him cash in on the whole distaterous situation. He, of course, said he always wrote about that stuff. Funny. Cuz all I remember him singing about b4 was himself. How HE wanted to talk about HIM...

  • i agree COMPLETELY! besides.. the said TWELVE words! and they got death threats and crap but who care.. he was not a very good pres. :( sorry to all u "lovers" of bush but he was sucky lol :)

  • @mindsikmuzik People crucified them for what they said because it was cowardly... The Dixie Chicks are, always have been, and always will be my favorite band, but I would have had a little more respect for what Natalie said had she been opening up a show in Lubbock, Texas.

  • My goodness...that chick can sing.

  • Beautiful

  • Well the Dixie Chicks are my fav chicks

    and F.U.T.K

    I mean it literally:D

They should run for presidance lol

Naw they hiv enough power and guts to

  • miss'em from Spain as well

  • you are right!

    que vuelvan!! =)

  • I miss the Dixie Chicks!!! Come back, genius women!!

  • Harmony comes to mind. A masterpeice.

Few ever do that. Kinda makes you think what "devine " hand really looks after the universe. Then Toby Keif might learn to think for himself.

  • I'm sitting here and getting real emotional to say the least. I woke up this morning and had this song in my head all day, now i finnaly get to hear it.

you girls are the real artists. You deserve all the money and all the fame you are getting.

I wish you all the best to you and your beautiful families.

    Peace and love from sweden

  • They need to make a new album! <3

  • Go to AOL sessions and listen to this it sounds 100% better!

  • it's the quality of her voice on "easy" and "peaceful" that does it for me

  • Poetry at its best.

"Monkeys on the barricades are warning us to back away.

They form commissions trying to find the next one they can crucify.

    Anger plays on every station.

    Answers only make more questions.

I need something to believe in; breathe in sanctuary."

    Beautiful.

  • I think they need to come out with a new CD. They are a great band.

  • it is best song except not ready to make nice i luv them

  • Martie crying at 3:20 is so sweet! I love this song and them in general :D

  • this is my favorite dixie chicks song......this was a great night for them also........pretty much a big f u to all the backwoods rednecks who hung them out to dry.................

  • The girls acappella group at the University of Wisconsin do a great cover of this song. There name is tangled up in blue and you can find the song by searching "redbarndog"

    check it out!

  • I can listen to Natalie sing all day. What a phenomenal band.

  • Music of our time! <3

  • God I'm in love with the dixie chicks's music!

  • She sounds a little nervous, not hitting all the notes. But it's still breathtaking!

  • she was sick

  • oh ok, thanks :)

  • Check Out their New song

    Dixie Chicks Lucky One

  • So amazingly beautiful!!!

  • I agree. This is such a beautiful song.

  • Brings me to tears every time. Go dixies!

Fuck bush, enough with the evil. I'm dreaming of a new era for you americans and for the rest of the world. Peace Brothers and sisters

  • love dixie chicks and love brad paisley there both wiked....country music just tickles my spot...i have no idea why i cant stand the accent!

  • Quina cançó més bonica!

    What a beutiful song...

  • very powerful song! "Children lose their youth too soon, watching war made us immune....."

  • Philippa has just sung this to me. Both versions are good for different reasons.

  • i love this song, her voice is so pure. i dont think it would have been as good if somebody else sang it.

  • I love this song!

  • I love it. I love How they sound.

  • This is such a good song!! ...and the way you keep the world at bar for me...

    Love them!!

  • **bay for me

  • im not a huge country fan but they certainly are a great group and this song i could listen to forever :)

    ps. marry me LisaRaye

  • They are true talent and beauties.

  • her voice sounds exactly the same in their album, which means that she has what we call a perect voice where they dont have to do anything to improve it, go dixie chix!! i will always be here for u!!

  • wow!! I LOVE her voice!

  • me tooo! It is so special and perfect!

  • love them.

  • Dixie Chicks forever! It is horrible what people can say and do. They have a right to say there opinion. Just like everyone else. What if we say what they said about the president? Would the same things happen to us?

  • I'm sure she did you idiot

  • I happen to care very much who wrote it, and so should you. Dan Wilson is one of our best. From Trip Shakespeare with his brother, Matt, to Semisonic with the incredible John Munson (also Trip), to his "Freelife" solo work . . . Dan is pretty much the man. I held her white throat, clawed within her coat.

  • Great song, Sung from the heart. Thanks Dixie chicks. Love ya.

  • Thank God for their guts (and their sound)

  • This song is increible. Quina song més maca...

  • oh great song, I like it.

    Those girls are really good.

  • It wasn't written "excusively" by Dan Wilson - he co-wrote the song with all three of the Dixie Chicks. They wrote this song together - so it IS a Dixie Chicks original (certainly as much as it's a Dan Wilson original).

  • who cares who wrote it? they still sing it beautifully!

  • @jyafink When you check out Dan Wilson singing this song on youtube, the first thing HE says is: Here's a song I wrote with the Dixie Chicks, so ...

  • what is that little guitar called that the brunette one is playing??

  • I am pretty sure it's called a 'papoose'. That particular instrument seems to have a very unique sound. It seems to be rotated between Nat and Emily; depending on the song.

  • My God, this song is incredible. I hated myself for not having taped it. The camera work of this performance is amazing.

  • I guess the song is about Natalie's husband, and how he reacted back then...with all the censorship and hate to the dixiechicks about george bush comments...

  • Poignant, relevant and just simply AMAZING. Keep singing those songs that makes the audience question their purpose, and your album was amazing!!!Natalie/Martie/Emily are just fantastically amazing artist

  • Amazing!! Dixie Chicks come back to the UK!

  • Their lyrics could be written as poetry.

    just amazing.

  • I love it.

    I love How they look.

    I love How they sound.

    I love it all.

  • I think of the pearl of silence, and yees it makes me remind SO much and think about the meaning of life..

  • I love this song. It makes me cry when I think about the meaning.

  • What is the true meaning to this song? It's one of my all-time fave Dixie Chicks songs, but I have no idea if it's political or what... I just think of a good friend....... And fuck Bush.

  • Means that for a negative comment about Bush in 2003, their music was banned all across the USA, Emily's home was vandalized, they received death threats having to rely on the Texas Rangers & FBI b/c some were so serious, but despite it, their families, esp. husbands were there for them and they could let down their guard and be vulnerable and loved, and be themselves with all the bad stuff seeming to fade away temporarily. Martie, interviewed said it's her favorite song from this newest album.

  • That's sickening, their music has nothing to do with Political views, Natalie or anyone can say whatever they want, well it is suposed to be that way, but when it comes to the goverment, it's their way or else. They are the best band ever, period.

  • amazing song! as kaoz said, go check out dan wilson doing this song. he helped in the writing of this song. beautiful stuff

  • angel voices

    i love the dixies

    greetings from germany

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG

  • they are all so georgeous, and natilie has such a beautiful voice....actually all of them do

  • i love the dixie chicks!thier great!my favorite song by them is long way around! natelie is so awsome!

  • I think that's the point. They do understand the complexities of war enough to know that you don't send people to fight for nothing. I am proud of the soldiers fighting over there and my family is apart of the honored tradition of fighting for this country. But let me tell you, when I think about how many of our troops have died for this nonsense, you better believe I agree with the chicks.

  • well said vitaluv

  • Didn't know Iraq and Afghanistan had jungles.....

  • great song got to see Dan Wilson (co-writer of this song/semisonic lead singer)do it live last night.....check him out doing this song

  • this song is so pretty.

  • they are amazing plain and simple. their music is amazing, they speak their minds, and are ACEEEEE

  • Children lose their youth too soon

    Watching war made us immune

I've got all the world to lose

And I just wanna hold on to

The easy silence you create for me

It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me

And the peaceful quiet you create for me

And the way you keep the world at bay for me

The way you keep the world at bay.

  • My favorite song ever!

  • Yeah, I defenitely agree with whitewolf725

  • I LOVE THE DIXIE CHICKS :D

  • They rock, and they are all so pretty. Natalie kind of sounds like she may have a sore throat or something, but it is still such a pretty song!

  • it does sound like she has a sore throat. but i think she sings even better here than on the cd :D i love this performance :)

  • Does anyone notice the tear coming from Martie ? at 3:20...so touching....they are so gorgeous....

    I LOVE U, DIXIE CHICKS.!!

  • wow...she seems like the sweetest of the three...god their awesome.

  • Yeah. I totally agree. She seems so nice. They all do, at least from what I've seen.

  • gosh, it definitely is!! i love them too!!

  • This song (and entire cd) is stunning! Country music should be ashamed of themselves for playing more cheesy T&A crap out of Trace A. & Toby K. (although those 2 can sing when they want to, but the maintenance man song?? find some new lyrics please!) instead of these fine ladies!! CHICKS RULE!

  • Their 15 minutes is forever. I love them, their just amazing.

  • So Lovely!

  • god. this always makes me cry

  • Super video!

  • it not to bad

  • what a fantastic song. her voice is exquisite. lyrics unforgettable.

  • oh my god..I really love this song..it's so sad..

  • Oh wait, by the 2nd verse, you can see Martie chanting "Uhhhhhhhhhhh" to Natalie's vocals, but it was quite funny. (01:43) And Natalie finally looks 30. All this while, she had that look that made her look like one of Avril Lavigne's BFFs.

  • One of the best country/adult pop songs, ever. Also the 2nd best Dixie Chicks song, only behind Travellin' Soldier.

  • adoro as músicas de voCês e essa em particular me deixa mais calma

  • Tuuudo de bommm!!! Maravilhosas, lindas vozes, talentosas!! Muito bom!!

  • this song is beautiful!! Dixie Chicks!!!

  • This song is amazing!!

  • i love this song. the dixie chicks are awesome!
