there is no "best" class, heavy and engineer are best for defend modes like control point and payload, and scout is best for capture modes, and the other classes have there best rounds

spy, my opinion, evrything is balanced indeed, you cant be good at spy if the other team has 3 pyros :S, if other team has lots of engi / heavy, its christmas ^^ (got a 6 backstab spree)

Demoman: good for most situations but lacks an actual gun, only good for defending in my opinion

Sniper:good at long and close but doesn't have the ability for in between

Note, all of these are just in general any one good at the class can do better then whats stated above

Solider: if you consider cheap then yes hes the best

Spy:he can be good depending on the situation but takes to much skill to be good at to be #1

Pyro: my personal favorite but is limited to close range except for flare gun

Scout:fast annoying and only good for 2-fort

Medic:lacks the ability for actual combat

Heavy:slow: lots of health, but limited in range

Demoman and Pyro are the 2 noob classes. It takes little (or none for that matter) skill to own as those classes. The hardest to be good at is either Spy or Scout.
