Parts of this song always reminded me of a WAY older song because of the catchy melody, took me a while to nail it again. 1:28 - 1:43 (At least) to me this sounds PRETTY close to the verse in the 1981/82 German new wave song "Fred vom Jupiter" by The Doraus & The Marinas.
Dax was transitional style evolving from a worn out disco trend moving toward techno rock, euro night club dance music? (I think this band is really cool!) We only got to hear Dax in Houston by listening to Rice University radio station; she caught my ear with song 'Cathouse'...yes, Siouxie and the Banshees, also similar is BigAudioDynamite
Danielle Dax was huge in the clubs during the 80's in Vancouver. If you played The Cure, Siouxsie, The Smiths, Sisters of M, this was up there. Sire US released the album in 88. I played this every Saturday night at the Luv-a-Fair. DubMania. Good Memories.
The club eventually turned into a frat boy club as the DJ's played Green Day rock in the late 90's and 2000's... eventually the club closed.
I suppose you sincerely believe that water turns into wine? That unmarried cloistered men are good marriage counselors? That the left hand is unsafe to eat with? That meat and milk are unsafe if stored separately in the same fridge?
You bet your ass i believe in ripping ignorance. Religion is no excuse for ignorance.
Use the gift your creator gave you. Or is that a sin?
Sin: using a reference to a higher being to control others rather than providing a real benefit to society.
"I suppose you sincerely believe that water turns into wine?"
Yep. That's why it's called a MIRACLE.
"That unmarried cloistered men are good marriage counselors?"
ummmm... not catholic but sure. Do I need to play in the freeway, get hit by a car, to counsel a child on the advantages of NOT playing in the freeway?
Sin: Being a jackass whose only merit is bringing hostility and anger to the world around him.
It's my sincerely held belief that people with your sincerely held belief have mental problems. Going by your logic you now can not say anything against what I just said...
Oh and are you trying to say that there haven't been numerous con artists within the church? Get Real. Get Informed. Now go home and study before you come back here.
"It's my sincerely held belief that people with your sincerely held belief have mental problems. Going by your logic you now can not say anything against what I just said..."
False. As I stated, "Sin: Being a jackass whose only merit is bringing hostility and anger to the world around him. "
"Oh and are you trying to say that there haven't been numerous con artists within the church? Get Real. Get Informed."
It's always amusing when people just make up crap to disprove.
Sorry mate. That's not a sin. But then you resort to calling me a name. I did no such thing to you. I said I sincerely believe that people like yourself have mental problems. I'm talking about a mental condition not name calling.
And you are truly misguided if you believe there is no corruption within the Church in any form. Let's take Jim Bakker for example. Are you denying he scammed his followers? Are you denying the facts? I would like an apology from you for calling me a Jackass.
#2. should you be dual accounting and also occupy the account, let me define jackass for you:
"a contemptibly foolish or stupid person; dolt; blockhead;"
When one asserts an argument that his opponent never stated and then goes to demonstrate how that supposed argument is false, he qualifies as a DOLT, a FOOL, or a STUPID PERSON. Take your pick.
I NEVER asserted that there weren't cons in the church and yet you made up some argument.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
PS. Should you NOT be dual accounting and the term "Jackass" which I used in defining "xyaqua" be only applied to him, then allow me to demonstrate the merits of that title:
When one's "jollies" (if you will) come from mocking and/or finding joy in "ripping" the beliefs of BILLIONS of people it is both juvenile, sophmoroic AND ill-informed. (Any of which qualify as the actions of A DOLT.)
I woul dlike an apology from all you and everyone else who think it a worthy passtime to mock
Now you accuse me of having a dual account? Again, you are making up lies. I do not have a dual account. I will contact Youtube about this. Be sure of that.
And, have you listened to the song? Do you actually know what the song is about? I was talking about the song. Which is the entire point of the talkback isn't it? Or did you not understand that? Like I said. Please go away and try to understand what you are actually trying to say here. Because I don't think anybody understands.
This is about life experience. it is true. so true that no dissertation or argument can assail it. hence your negative rating. real life prevails above any religion or assumed correctness. i've spent 40 years figuring it out. and i'm lucky...
@xyaqua "So true that no dissertation or argument can assail it."
Life experience trumps reality argumentation eh? to each their own. Perception is not reality but only the perception there of. It is easy to have a perception that is the result of DEception.
Hence my negative rating? Now THAT argumentation made me chuckle. try making your comments on a Hillsong video and see how many negative marks YOU get. Would that make your argument incorrect and mine correct?

"Pay alms for favors" I can see you've never been to church.
I do not pay alms for favors, nor does any Christian on the planet.
Question: Why do you feel so compelled to assert that you know what my beliefs are when you repeatedly have been demonstrated to have know knowledge on the subject?
You haven't the foggiest about my attitude towards humanity.
Love the guitar(s), deep lyrics. Kick ass production, excellent vocals. Danielle dax (Gardiner) is way too pretty for this souxie souix look- some faces just don't need much makeup.
But hey, i'll watch anything or listen to anything she does. repeatedly.
I remember driving into Los Angeles in the late 80s, early 90s and this song would be on KROQ without fail everytime we drove into town...I always wondered who did this! Great song, Danielle!!
Saw Dax when she opened for Sisters of Mercy on their Vision Thing tour in San Francisco ('91). It's amazing the small bands, performers we remember even after just one listen.
You are so great, I have looked for this song for 20 years!!! It was one of my most favorite songs of the club days in college and I never knew the name of it, just the words. You have MADE MY DAY!
I heard this song in san francisco and it took me about 2 month's to find out who it was. Finally saw her open for Sisters of Mercy. This song blows me away. And yeah she is about 2.5 ft tall. I hear she is living in NY.
Its a f*uckin shame it is that she never got the recognition as a brilliant artist, one that she absolutely deserved. I love Lene Lovich, Siouxsie and Nina Hagen, but there was something about Danielle's lyrics that stand above the rest.
Remember the name of the collection that capped her career: Comatose Non-Reaction: The Thwarted Pop Career of Danielle Dax. In a better world than this one, she'd be as popular as Madonna.
Totally Kete Bush Esque. Catchy and annoying all at once. I remember the song. it`s one of those that pops into your head occasionnaly and stays there a while.
Watch your tongue fool. I love Danielle Dax too, but Kate has more talent in her pinky than most of the 80's Goth artists combined, including miss Dax. Not to mention Kate paved the way for self produced female musicians.
Well said, but IMHO I think Kate has lightened up too much after mommyhood. Ariel is no nearly as good as her previous works (except the Red Shoes which just isn't the right stuff). Hounds of Love, however is where she needs to return to. Dax needs to get back out with some new material. Both women have awesome merits.
I love Kate Bush...but the title of first self-producing female musician probably goes to Genya Ravan. Nevermind all the great records she produced for other folks.
Miss Dax's religious beliefs, couldn't tell you. She has played the occasional spoken word gig or guest appearance recently. She appears to be ill in some way, though. you might want to look into danielle dax dot com.
I live in the UK (for my sins!) and she does a lot of interior design programmes now - gardening shows, redecorating, things like that. She's rather good too :D
I have to confess, the images I always visualized in my own mind for this song are a LOT better and more evocative. If I can find the right movie, I'll make one. It would have to feature a twisted, abusive evangalist and his daughter - "Liberty's daughter, well primed for the slaughter, a space where her brains had been..."
Really, she has nothing in common with a "Drag Queen", muscleboundhomo ;) She is a girl, and very sexy... you have to see "Company of Wolves" - then you'll see :D
She doesn't wear much make up in White Knuckle Ride and is almost fresh faced by comparison to some of her other vids. Yes, she is v. attractive under the slap.
I agree I have never got to see any of her videos and this is wonderful! I have a massive audio collection, but nothing on video. I do have a Concert Poster that looks like a Clip from this video.

Look into basic sentence structure, practice reading, and then try to have a conversation.
You have made TWO accusations of me saying something that I've never stated.

Real life told many that the world was flat. Live in the darkness you call reality - your choice.
Asserting that the world is flat and that your perception is that the world is flat does not make it true.
And there is no defense for it logically or otherwise.
Perceptions are ruled by emotion and fraught with error.
And no amount of "I've spent forty years" makes them more correct.

she reminds me a lot to NINA HAGEN, i think without all that make up she could look beautiful, but anyway NINA is for me the best
