  • Used this song in one of my Blog posts. Great tune

  • I like to play with my dick and pull back my foreskin when I watch videos.

  • I want to be Danielle Dax.

  • she plays most of the instruments on he albums

  • Equal parts Kate Bush & Siouxsie Sioux, smart as a whip, and the public had no idea what to do with her.

  • Houston JAM...wow...remember all the baby dome tabs...jeeezzzz...

  • Danielle Dax: Miles cooler than Lady Gaga in my humble opinion.

  • Parts of this song always reminded me of a WAY older song because of the catchy melody, took me a while to nail it again. 1:28 - 1:43 (At least) to me this sounds PRETTY close to the verse in the 1981/82 German new wave song "Fred vom Jupiter" by The Doraus & The Marinas.

  • fuckin bad ass!! i love hear makeup and this song!!

  • she looks like lene lovich

  • @JohnnyLovely2

    The blonde Lene! :)

  • Strange, but back in the day I never saw too many theological/philosophical arguments over this in the clubs.

It was more a case of stuffing as much speed/acid as you could find down your throat and stomping your arse off to the monster bass.

  • Dax was transitional style evolving from a worn out disco trend moving toward techno rock, euro night club dance music? (I think this band is really cool!) We only got to hear Dax in Houston by listening to Rice University radio station; she caught my ear with song 'Cathouse'...yes, Siouxie and the Banshees, also similar is BigAudioDynamite

  • @amcramblermarlin I used to hear this at Club 6400 all the time.

  • Fantastic!!

Danielle Dax was huge in the clubs during the 80's in Vancouver. If you played The Cure, Siouxsie, The Smiths, Sisters of M, this was up there. Sire US released the album in 88. I played this every Saturday night at the Luv-a-Fair. DubMania. Good Memories.

The club eventually turned into a frat boy club as the DJ's played Green Day rock in the late 90's and 2000's... eventually the club closed.

  • the 80"s Lady gaga lolll

  • @METALPR1DE Only More Talent.........( I like Gaga too)

  • Wow...22 years later....still rocks. I re-member being in the clubs...altered...listening to these words.

I'm glad that synaptic impulse in the brain made me look this one up.

  • wtf? this has been one heavy shit load of ratings prior to the last few!! lmfao...great song, talented lass!.

  • you have to love Danielle. she bares the feelings of her soul in A VERY un-apologetic way.

She's tough, and you have to respect that. regardless of her awesome musical talent.

Walking in the valley of decision... a tough, but honest life.

    I'm with you Danielle!

  • She's so amazing.

  • Great - thanks for sharing. Inky Bloaters is one of my favourite albums.

  • I love all her songs. Why isn't she as famouse as other bands?

  • I'd hate to have your name called and have you be left behind, that's really great

  • Classic track. I love this woman.

  • This is without a doubt my fav by her!

  • F-ing awesome lyrics. She rips on religion while performing her ass off. Awesome. You go girl!!!

  • So ripping on someone's sincerely held beliefs is cool to you. ummm. ok.

  • I suppose you sincerely believe that water turns into wine? That unmarried cloistered men are good marriage counselors? That the left hand is unsafe to eat with? That meat and milk are unsafe if stored separately in the same fridge?

You bet your ass i believe in ripping ignorance. Religion is no excuse for ignorance.

Use the gift your creator gave you. Or is that a sin?

Sin: using a reference to a higher being to control others rather than providing a real benefit to society.

  • "I suppose you sincerely believe that water turns into wine?"

    Yep. That's why it's called a MIRACLE.

"That unmarried cloistered men are good marriage counselors?"

ummmm... not catholic but sure. Do I need to play in the freeway, get hit by a car, to counsel a child on the advantages of NOT playing in the freeway?

Sin: Being a jackass whose only merit is bringing hostility and anger to the world around him.

  • Testify!

  • It's my sincerely held belief that people with your sincerely held belief have mental problems. Going by your logic you now can not say anything against what I just said...

Oh and are you trying to say that there haven't been numerous con artists within the church? Get Real. Get Informed. Now go home and study before you come back here.

  • "It's my sincerely held belief that people with your sincerely held belief have mental problems. Going by your logic you now can not say anything against what I just said..."

False. As I stated, "Sin: Being a jackass whose only merit is bringing hostility and anger to the world around him. "

"Oh and are you trying to say that there haven't been numerous con artists within the church? Get Real. Get Informed."

It's always amusing when people just make up crap to disprove.

  • Sorry mate. That's not a sin. But then you resort to calling me a name. I did no such thing to you. I said I sincerely believe that people like yourself have mental problems. I'm talking about a mental condition not name calling.

And you are truly misguided if you believe there is no corruption within the Church in any form. Let's take Jim Bakker for example. Are you denying he scammed his followers? Are you denying the facts? I would like an apology from you for calling me a Jackass.

  • #1. The "Jaskass" term was applied to xyaqua.

#2. should you be dual accounting and also occupy the account, let me define jackass for you:

"a contemptibly foolish or stupid person; dolt; blockhead;"

When one asserts an argument that his opponent never stated and then goes to demonstrate how that supposed argument is false, he qualifies as a DOLT, a FOOL, or a STUPID PERSON. Take your pick.

I NEVER asserted that there weren't cons in the church and yet you made up some argument.

  • Comment removed

  • Now you accuse me of having a dual account? Again, you are making up lies. I do not have a dual account. I will contact Youtube about this. Be sure of that.

And, have you listened to the song? Do you actually know what the song is about? I was talking about the song. Which is the entire point of the talkback isn't it? Or did you not understand that? Like I said. Please go away and try to understand what you are actually trying to say here. Because I don't think anybody understands.

  • Look into basic sentence structure, practice reading, and then try to have a conversation.

You have made TWO accusations of me saying something that I've never stated.

All of which bring more validity to my "Jackass" assertion.

  • This is about life experience. it is true. so true that no dissertation or argument can assail it. hence your negative rating. real life prevails above any religion or assumed correctness. i've spent 40 years figuring it out. and i'm lucky...

  • @xyaqua "So true that no dissertation or argument can assail it."

Life experience trumps reality argumentation eh? to each their own. Perception is not reality but only the perception there of. It is easy to have a perception that is the result of DEception.

Hence my negative rating? Now THAT argumentation made me chuckle. try making your comments on a Hillsong video and see how many negative marks YOU get. Would that make your argument incorrect and mine correct?

  • Your logic is so whelming. :-)

How about this? How about i DONT comment on a Hillsong video and not argue with someone i have no hope of knowing.

Best wishes to you for a future of more positive interaction with others.

  • Real life told many that the world was flat. Live in the darkness you call reality - your choice.

Asserting that the world is flat and that your perception is that the world is flat does not make it true.

And there is no defense for it logically or otherwise.

Perceptions are ruled by emotion and fraught with error.

And no amount of "I've spent forty years" makes them more correct.

  • Love the guitar(s), deep lyrics. Kick ass production, excellent vocals. Danielle dax (Gardiner) is way too pretty for this souxie souix look- some faces just don't need much makeup.

But hey, i'll watch anything or listen to anything she does. repeatedly.

  • What a catchy song this is!

I have a bit of catching up to do on Danielle Dax, as I inexplicably missed out on her music and herself in general while in the 80s.

  • love love love love it.

  • I remember driving into Los Angeles in the late 80s, early 90s and this song would be on KROQ without fail everytime we drove into town...I always wondered who did this! Great song, Danielle!!

  • the 80s ruled , there is no creativity anymore in clothes, music etc.

  • This is absolutely fuckin amazing! Cannot believe it's from the eighties. What on earth is Danielle doing now?

  • Why have I never utubed this before now?! I absolutely love this track.

  • God, I remember this... even as I'd pretend to buy the who God thing, going to church w/my family.

  • Gorgeous voice, brilliant lyrics, unclassifiable music--DD was/is a genius, whatever she looked like and whatever her level of commercial success was

  • First time I ever heard or saw this....nice song :)

  • she is way better than i thought!!!i also like her outfits

  • And, fortunately, both DARK ADAPTED EYE and BLAST THE HUMAN FLOWER have been reissued now (this tune is on the former).

  • love this song, come on" I TUNES " you dont have any of this

  • emo is so last tuesday this is why the eighties kick super ass thanks. danille.

  • i had this cd; she's pretty talented a lot of good songs she used to be in the Lemon Kittens...

  • You have to love how severely 80s this is. I want to live on a planet that LOOKS LIKE THIS VIDEO.

  • well youll be happy to know shes now an interior designer, so hire her to design you such a living environment ;-)

  • This song brings back NIGHTMARES OF DRAG QUEENS CIRCA 1988!!!!!!!!!

  • I once had a wife who looked like her..

  • Artist musician actor designer Goddess

  • I wanted to be Danielle Dax, back in the day. Would still not be unhappy to wake up as Her Talented Hotness :)

  • I would not be unhappy to wake up with Her Talented Hotness! ;-)

  • Whenever I go to this lame gay bar in my city, I always request this... Alas, to no avail.

  • Recently DJed between acts at a gig and we played this, still sounds amazing 20 years on!

  • Saw Dax when she opened for Sisters of Mercy on their Vision Thing tour in San Francisco ('91). It's amazing the small bands, performers we remember even after just one listen.

  • You are so great, I have looked for this song for 20 years!!! It was one of my most favorite songs of the club days in college and I never knew the name of it, just the words. You have MADE MY DAY!

  • Dang! I haven't heard this since I was a teenager in the late 80s! Thanx for the memories!

  • wow takes me back years, super cool.

  • Another olden oldie I miss.

  • A great song I had never heard before. Thanks.

  • I love this song

  • Saw her at the Riverside Newcastle when I was a student

    Great memories

    A truly individual artist

  • I bought this CD when it cam out in 1988!

  • I heard this song in san francisco and it took me about 2 month's to find out who it was. Finally saw her open for Sisters of Mercy. This song blows me away. And yeah she is about 2.5 ft tall. I hear she is living in NY.

  • Ahh ms. dax how i worshipped ye, Your album jesus egg that wept changed my life for the better.

  • Love this song! Haven't seen this video since 1992 at least. Makes me wanna boogie.

  • I used to live across the road from Dannielle Dax. She's about 2 and a half feet tall.

  • Very sexy.

    o.o

  • danielle dax is the benchmark for female songwriters.listen to her lyrics.they are always on point and give you food fot thought.

  • Its a f*uckin shame it is that she never got the recognition as a brilliant artist, one that she absolutely deserved. I love Lene Lovich, Siouxsie and Nina Hagen, but there was something about Danielle's lyrics that stand above the rest.

  • her CD "dark adapted eyes" is a LOST 80s classic. Ms Dax is sorely missed these days...

  • somehow i missed this chick in the eighties-she's great!

  • HEY YEAH

  • alienfox dont tell me is it all flock wallpaper and decorative wrought iron?

  • what a brilliant talent! I would love to see her play in Boston. This is my fave Danielle Dax tune. That chick is a musical genuis.

  • Remember the name of the collection that capped her career: Comatose Non-Reaction: The Thwarted Pop Career of Danielle Dax. In a better world than this one, she'd be as popular as Madonna.

  • Totally Kete Bush Esque. Catchy and annoying all at once. I remember the song. it`s one of those that pops into your head occasionnaly and stays there a while.

  • Kate Bush? Nah, Kate Bush isn't as cool as Danielle Dax. Danielle Dax has more of an edge, Kate Bush is a straight up dork.

  • Watch your tongue fool. I love Danielle Dax too, but Kate has more talent in her pinky than most of the 80's Goth artists combined, including miss Dax. Not to mention Kate paved the way for self produced female musicians.

  • Well said, but IMHO I think Kate has lightened up too much after mommyhood. Ariel is no nearly as good as her previous works (except the Red Shoes which just isn't the right stuff). Hounds of Love, however is where she needs to return to. Dax needs to get back out with some new material. Both women have awesome merits.

  • I love Kate Bush...but the title of first self-producing female musician probably goes to Genya Ravan. Nevermind all the great records she produced for other folks.

  • Danielle Dax is much more beautiful than Nicole Kidman.

  • this song always makes me smile

  • Saw her live at the riverside Newcastle

This brings back some wonderful student memories

  • she'd never play lilith. she's a pagan.

  • Had she still be around in the late 1990s, she would have blown the entire Lillith Fair out of the water!

  • Was Danielle Dax an occultist? Whay were her beliefs and where is she now?

  • Miss Dax's religious beliefs, couldn't tell you. She has played the occasional spoken word gig or guest appearance recently. She appears to be ill in some way, though. you might want to look into danielle dax dot com.

  • I live in the UK (for my sins!) and she does a lot of interior design programmes now - gardening shows, redecorating, things like that. She's rather good too :D

  • I love her

Company Of Wolves was really cool

  • I think I remember this from *some* of my clubbing days

what i remember more was that her sample "hey yeah" was taken and used from some other dance "rave" tracks over a decade later.

I want more info and tracks from her.... I bet she influenced many others.

  • I absolutely love the song and video! Danielle had a funky look; I absolutely adore it.

  • I have to confess, the images I always visualized in my own mind for this song are a LOT better and more evocative. If I can find the right movie, I'll make one. It would have to feature a twisted, abusive evangalist and his daughter - "Liberty's daughter, well primed for the slaughter, a space where her brains had been..."

  • I haven't seen this video in about 15 years. It's cool to see it after all of these years. :-)

  • I lusted after this woman in the 80's, lol , She was amazing and even better in concert.

  • Haven't heard this song in a decade at least, and never saw the video. Thanks.

  • I never knew this song had a video. Lovely.

  • Superb, thanks for that!

  • shake that deathrock booty!

  • Really, she has nothing in common with a "Drag Queen", muscleboundhomo ;) She is a girl, and very sexy... you have to see "Company of Wolves" - then you'll see :D

  • thanks! this is one of my fav songs and it's so cool to watch the video ;)

  • She is like a drag queen on LSD, much like Nina Hagen. Both amazing. WE NEED MORE OF BOTH!!!

  • She doesn't wear much make up in White Knuckle Ride and is almost fresh faced by comparison to some of her other vids. Yes, she is v. attractive under the slap.

  • Bloody awesome! Kick ass music!

  • Dax is totally hot!!!!

  • I agree I have never got to see any of her videos and this is wonderful! I have a massive audio collection, but nothing on video. I do have a Concert Poster that looks like a Clip from this video.

  • Reminds me a dance club her in Houston. Numbers. Love it!!!

  • yeah #'s...been there!

  • I love it more Danielle Please!!!

message for guruguk: She looks beautiful all the time, and is totally different from Nina Hagen, the only thing they have in common is that they are unique, and strange women from the 80's.

  • she reminds me a lot to NINA HAGEN, i think without all that make up she could look beautiful, but anyway NINA is for me the best

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

i'd never sen this one, what a treat!

i love how the design of her dress is used as a graphic in the vid!
