I read somewhere this was filmed in the building where STUDIO 54 once was. ANYONE else hear anything about that? or am i mistaken? ps i am not JOAN THE ACTRESS i wish i were
I've always enjoyed Melinda Fee's performances. I first became aware of her work while I was a junior high school student, and she guest starred as "Fenestra" in a second-season episode of "Lost in Space" entitled "Space Circus."
Do you have any clearer recordings of Charlie Paul's "Love of Life" theme? I know I have a couple of audio recordings, but have to look around for them.
I intend to play that version of the "Love of Life" theme on my new Lowrey Imperial organ.
This takes me back to a time when all the world was right, and the only troubles could be switched off as quickly as they had been switched on. I loved the Ben-Arlene-Ray story line.
sorry about that last comment, I just realized this soap is Love of Life, I was thinking it was One Life to Live LOL....its a shame more video from the 70's of all soaps isn't more available
great upload!....I would love to see some of OLTL when Tommy Lee Jones was on playing evil Dr. Mark Toland and he was involved in a torrid affair with Dorian Cramer, played by Nancy Pinkerton at the time...I think Toland came on in '71 or '72
I cannot believe after all these years that you are so attuned to LOVE OF LIFE. I can't remember exactly, but I may have gone up on my lines with John Gabriel--who by the way is a terrific actor + singer.. There were so many last minute dialogue changes those last few days when I was on that show, so forgive me. Melinda Fee
Wow! I wasn't expecting to see Dr. Seneca Beaulac on this clip. Thankfully I did get to see vintage Ryan's Hope episodes on SoapNet. If only they would show other classic soaps.
Ain't that the truth! I realize some of these classic soaps' tapes are probably not around, but I refuse to believe that they (or some channel) couldn't be showing the primo years of AW, Love of Life, SEARCH, TEXAS, GL, ATWT, SStorm, Doctors, and just on and on. It would literally blow me away. Soapnet "almost" had it correct when they were running AW -- but they started a little too late in that show's run for me. 1970 would have been better, but that classic time probably wasn't available.
What a great clip. My favorite part is where Melinda Fee obviously goes up on her line and Gabriel coaxes her through until she gets back on track. Thanks for posting this.
Such good vintage soap, especially the scene with mother and daughter. Melinda Fee. One of those soap actresses who was on so many soaps up to the 80s and then she vanished.
@saynotoursoap I remember her. I was hooked on days as a teenager, I watched it up until Marlena was posessed by Satan. I was very much in love with young Peter Reckel when he was on there at first. I would think "Hubba HUBBA!" What a BABE!
@CarlD2@graydog788 Fee was indeed the second (or third?) "Charlotte Waring Bauer" (aka "Tracey Delmar") on "The Guiding Light," married to central character, attorney "Michael Bauer" (Don Stewart), though that role was better remembered as played by Victoria Wyndham, who earned soap legend status as "Rachel" on "Another World."

John Gabriel was the actor who played the Professor in the unaired "Gilligan's Island" pilot. He said he cried about being fired from the gig!
I don't blame him!

Is the actor the same who played Seneca on Ryan's Hope?
I would love to see the final opening theme song.

@adelgado75 Exactly, John Gabriel, who played Seneca on Ryan's Hope, played fortune huntinng Linc Morrison.

Your fine work is missed on Daytime, between LOL, GL and DOOL. Thank you for years of creating memorable character portrayals, Ms. Fee!!!

The woman playing the mother looks like the woman who played Mrs. Carlson on WKRP.
Soapking1965 2 years ago
yes, the woman who played Amanda Randolph, Carol Bruce, indeed played Mama Carlson on WKRP later on. Very astute. :D

Yes, graydog788. Melinda was the last Mary Anderson on Days, murdered by Jake Kositchek, the Salem Strangler.

Yes. Melinda also had a good run as the evil Tracy Delmar on GL. I don't know if any of that is available.

I remember Miss Fee playing that part on GL. One of my first crushes if I recall correctly.
