Go back to toally stock specs. If you like the 383/4 spd combo, it will be well worth restoring it correctly, both for yourself and the highest resale value. That's only my opinion, some may like the resto-mods, some like all-out custom. In the end, you should do it exactly the way YOU like it since you're the one who will be living with it.

Go with the 4-speed tranny, build the motor with forged internals, lower the compression and do a nice heads and cam setup with a decent carb and throw a Garret GT42 turbo on it. I know many many people will disagree but think of it this way. You can have fun with that setup, making power like a big block but being able to keep it out of boost and keep the power low when you want. Also, you can put a 383 in it when you decide to move on to something else.

good find, but i doubt it has 31,000 original miles. It is a 5 digit odometer so i am pretty sure it spun over once or maybe twice.

nice i have one also i am restoring it. found mine in a field and bought it for 200. but you got a goodsolid one. mine has a slant six and much of work needed. check your wiring harness mine went out and burned up a few things.
