  • .........I wonder where those Roundheads got their shaving kit from?

  • It's probably impossible for modern people to understand the depth of the fear of God & Devil that people had in those days. Back then, God & Devil were REAL!

  • thanks for uploading

  • It's like watching the original of an episode on Merlin.

  • There is a telephone in the background at 2.33

  • I live in the very area where most of this is set! Babergh District in Suffolk.

  • yt:crop=16:9 :)

  • i don´t get it why reeves accepted price as the lead when he didn´t want him at all, i mean he is the director, has he got nothing to say about the cast??

  • @MoveOverCasanova The needed a bigger budget, so that´s why A.I.P. and Vincent Price came on board. " Take me to your goddam young genius" is a famous Vincent Price quote from the first meeting with the producers. As a fan of the actor and this movie I have no reason to complain at all.

  • random fact: hanging wasnt that quick in this era (not slagging off the film because it rocks :D) hangings could take upto 30mins. Its even been noted in some books that loved ones of the person being haned would hang from their feet to make it quicker... *shudder*

  • Matthew Hopkins and Vincent Price?!?! HANGING WITCH THIS IS GREAT!

  • watching it right now to on vhs cassette ha ha! - great film

  • Great movie! Im watching it right now on BBC Four lol

  • ha ha, those were the good old days. if someone pissed you off, then you call for the witchfinder general!!

  • @shirtgod lol Monty Python and the Holy Grail ( classics )

  • Although I never saw this as a child wasn't this originally titled "The Conqueror Worm"? Or am I thinking of something else?

  • @jay5775 Yes, this was distributed in the USA as THE CONQUEROR WORM, with Price reciting that poem at the beginning.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • This is a fantastic film and I'm grateful to you for posting it. I saw it as a teenager and I've never forgotten it: great acting, great costumes, and setting. Pretty dark stuff though. Inciudentally, I'm surprised Hilary Dwyer (Sarah) didn't become a bigger star. I had a huge crush on her at one time, and, seeing this again now, I can remember why!

  • One of the greatest horror films ever. Reeves really came into his own w this film. The synth. Score existed at one time due to earlier versions that did not have original music rights thankfully that's history now.

I hear there R deleted nude scenes in the tavern would like to see that even if it was not in Reeve's vision.

    John Stearne rocked!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this i always to see it

  • Hopkins was a faggot.

  • @annie10103 He was a disenfranchised lawyer cos of the war. What a creep lol!

  • @Kelly14UK

He was a complete prick! Half the damn time he persecuted woman who were weak and defenseless! Damn him! :)

  • @annie10103 Homophobia... How very Christian! Burn them!

  • owned

  • One of Vincent Prices darkest films, I Have always admired this master of horror but I think in this film he plays the role of Mathew Hopkins with absolute conviction.

Great acting from a great actor .Such a cultured gentleman outside his film work too .

Mr Price ,deserves respect even though he is sadly no longer with us.

  • ah at last. every time i look up horror films, i get mostly american films. finally one i can relate too haha. still lovin the yanks horror

  • @nannyoggrules77 not to sound dumb lol but how does duck show proof?? i dont see how it show evidence.

  • @AnimeLuver70 look what do we do with witches? burn em what also burns? wood and although experimental attempts of building bridges out of them were tried, you can also build bridges out of stone. now wood floats on water, so does a duck logically if she ways the same as a duck she's made of wood and therefore a witch

  • @nannyoggrules77 This is what they are doing to many of the widows in India.

  • @nannyoggrules77 Yeah, but this scumbag Hopkins was a total nobody and opportunist. If there's a hell, I hope it's as cold as Siberia, and he's condemned to walk thru it for all eternity stark naked.

  • @nannyoggrules77 in some cases they were even worse. Innocent people were often executed for witchcraft with no proof.

  • I bought the american laser of this and for some unknown reason it had this hideous synth music track instead of the score on this version. Can anybody explain this madness?

  • It's School Bully!

  • Do you have another VIncent Price classic, Masque of the Red Death? I can't find it anywhere, on dvd or online!

  • i hope that woman in the beginning realizes that by screaming and carrying on like that, it just makes everyone think shes more "possessed" i mean i know she doesn't want to die but seriously screaming like that won't change their minds.

  • @RT129 lol - I have seen this film hundreds of times yet never noticed that. Good one.

  • Haven't seen this in YEARS! TY 4 the upload. BTW, didn't this make it to Chiller Theater?

  • A truely great film. Witches (so called) were burned due to religious frenzy. Another act of evil done in the name of God to add to the already very long list.

  • @mrmonkeyisland1 - Only in Europe were people accused of witchcraft were burned. In Colonial America, they were hanged.

  • @evilunixuser1 They weren't burnt in some parts of Europe. In England they weren't burned.

  • @HimWotMustBeObeyed In Poland either.

  • You'd think they could at least have offered her a hood!

  • Good day Baron! I love this film and was "saving" it for Saturday!! Thank you very much for posting this classic!!

  • One of the most underrated British films.

Despite the rough edges, it's still far more potent than any modern slasher movie drivel.

  • A shame Reeves died young, he was a true visionary...

  • @Spectrophilia its not underrated its revered as a classic

  • @Spectrophilia its not underrated its reveared as a classic

  • At the moment there's a marvelous play on BBC radio 4(march 7) Vincent Price and The Horror of The English Blood Beast.

About the making of the film and the bad feeling between the director and Vincent Price.

Great watching the film and listening to the play at the same time!

  • @narcoleptus

Hi, I listened to that play and thoroughly enjoyed it, even laughing out loud at times!

  • @narcoleptus

I'm doing that now on BBC i player....

  • She rides to the sabbath

    Veiled under silver light

To make love to the devil

    Necromancer of nyte

    Cathedral reeeeeeeeeeeee

  • A great film, don't make them like this anymore.

  • in the name of God, HANG 'EM! Was Jesus smiling?

  • So this is Mattheuw Hopkins who wrote The Discovery of Witches book Heather Goldsmith has. It says he was a Puritan, lawyer & son of a minister.

  • Take her to the tree.

  • this is where doom metal originated from

  • we have found a witch, can we burn her ?

how do you know she is a witch?

she turned me into a newt !

she turned you into a newt ?

    ........well i got better !

  • You certainly know your Monty Python.

  • Grisly classic. In my opinion the green hills of the English countrside are unparalelled for a horror backdrop.

  • I just watched this in Sudbury, Suffolk, this Halloween afternoon, drinking cider & ale. I'm hoping to move there soon.

  • I love this film.I used to live in suffolk in a quaint village & wish I was back there. These historical films remind me so much.

  • Hopkins was a nasty fucker ; a very evil man ; a sociopath only in it for the money

  • My pleasure

  • *jumps up and gives the baron a BIG smooch!*

    THANK YOU!!! :) :) :)

  • Great to hear from you, Merricat. It's my pleasure to share this Price epic with you. I'm glad you've enjoyed it.

    Your faithful host,
