The songs that were stolen were just forgotten, the band agreed they didnt really like the songs and it didnt sound like green day, so they started fresh and american idiot came out. Pretty lucky they got stolen, although i would like to hear them.
It's more likely that Cigarettes and Valentines (the lost cd) is the cd Green Day recorded as The Network, their techno/new wave side project in 2002/2003. But overall I heard that the lost cd was just forgotten.

I'm so glad they're doing this new sound under a new name; it's absolutely appaling when bands (e.g. Silverchair) do a complete revamp of their sound as the same band. Grunge silverchair is 100% better than young modern silverchair. Despite all of this, Foxboro Hot TUbs are really good :D

Because they dont and have never made rock and roll music I actually like Green Day but they have started to become too similar to a lot of the other bands out there and also emo doesnt mean cutting yourself or singing about suicide but wearing eyeliner and singing about how shit your country is would be considered slightly emo

Singing about the state of the government is actually a very punk thing...not emo. Emo would be singing about how you feel after your girlfriend broke up with you. Or singing about how no one understands you. Emo, refers to singing about these emotional subjects.
