Both sides have misstated their numbers. Second, the unemployment in the United Stated is recently been admitted (which was apparent several years ago) to be 18% or greater. 50 million on food stamps. It's worse than what any politician will tell you. Millions of people are not accounted for in the unemployment rate. Some say the real unemployment rate is closer to 20%.
The US only has a bit more then 300million people. If 240million jobs were created, that would cover ~ 80% of the whole US population. Plus if you take into account all the people that still had jobs......that would mean there would be like 1.5 jobs for every US citizen.

It's worse than what any politician will tell you. Millions of people are not accounted for in the unemployment rate. Some say the real unemployment rate is closer to 20%.

The US only has a bit more then 300million people. If 240million jobs were created, that would cover ~ 80% of the whole US population. Plus if you take into account all the people that still had jobs......that would mean there would be like 1.5 jobs for every US citizen.
Somehow the numbers don't add up. Must have been a typo in the republican "talking points memo." They are all like "Ron Burgundy."

I feel like no one knows what's going on here. We have something over 300 million people in our country, and Santorum said Obama created 240 million jobs. I don't see why people are pointing out why creating 240mil instead of 280mil would still be a net gain, when they should be pointing out the fact that these numbers don't make sense. Obviously, if anything, Santorum was talking about the total number of jobs, in which case he could be correct about the net loss.

Santorum is a freaking idiot. If you create 50, 000 jobs and 3 months later it turns out that you only created 36,000 jobs and not the original 50,000, that doesn't equate to LOSING JOBS. LOL Dude is a moron.

@dfrutled If you open a company and you want to hire 10 people but turns out you hire 3, you lost 7 jobs, 3-7= -4, so now your company has -4 workers, i.e. there's 4 people who are paying you for not working in your company. Welcome to republican math.

@dfrutled I think what he meant was that the stimulas caused the original 280million workers to shrink to 240million after the stimulas so he means theres a loss of 40million which is actually correct but he said it totally wrong. USA pop is 307mil so he doesn't believe that before Obama's stimulas that only roughly say 10% of Americans were working while 90% were doing nothing lol.
