All ages from 7-18 are allowed to join. There are no high school marching bands in NYC, so this is their only option...and it's better than having them run the streets, especially seeing how the program gets them into college once they graduate high school.

bruh... im alumni... which means i was once in the band.... which means i know the requirements....

u don't audition... they ask you if u play an instrument... if u don't, they ask you what u want to play... then they teach you... the kids in the band work hard to get as good as some of their peers... there's competition within the sections ALL THE TIME... it's just hard work, simple and plain...

Theyre ok...theyre really loud all the time...very little musicality...and very stationary...I dont really favor bands like this because when people see DCI bands they find them rather boring because they are not playing popular music and they work probably 3 times as hard than this band do to the fact that they have to memorize music, dynamics, and dots on the field plus other musical things...but the fact that people are exposed to playing instruments is a Great idea

If you saw a real marching band though you'd know what this guy is talking about.These guys have ALOT of talent, its just that they aren't playing a song thats musically challenging;just loud with high notes.And they are standing still while playing,it makes it like 10 times easier

This is a real marching band and this is a different format than a marching competition. Every song does not have to be as hard as possible to be musical. True music comes from the soul not from difficulty. Only people with self esteem problems feel that it has to be difficult to be musical. There is a time and place for everything and while this might not be as difficult as Bach, the people they performed to didn't want to hear that and also this piece is not a mickey mouse piece either.
