love this song . brings back so many fond memories of loved ones . one of the first songs i ever heard my mother sing . a song with so much soul and passion .
I love you Whitney!!! God bless you... keep your head up and I am so proud of you and your last album it was truly wonderful. Keep God first everything will be ok..
Whitney has to be the very best improvisional vocalist in popular music ever. When singing live, she always sings in the moment and just doesn't seem to possess any fear in 'playing' with the melodies and it always works.
she could sing the ingredients to a twinkie and it get 5 stars and 10000 views on youtube. She's simple a stunning singer. Regardless of the genre of music you have to marvel at an artist in such command of their instrument that they make the astounding sound and look effortless.
Even though her voice seemed more limited in 1997 as oppose to 1986 but it is like when she felt like being a BEAST vocally it was on. She knew every vocal trick in the book is was ready to bring it when she felt like it.
Cissy Houston Her Mom Recorded this song with the Sweet Inspirations... I mean if Dionne recorded this too.. i could imagine how exposed she was to some good music hehe..
are you sure this is 97? It looks and sounds more like 91' whitney by 97' she was starting to look more frazzled and her voice was starting to crack more in her performances
You know, the problem with Whitney is that she sometimes doesn't rest her voice or doesn't warm it up enough! But when she does, she definitely sounds like the early 90's whitney, even on the my love is your love tour. you should check the concert she made in tokyo, you won't ever believe it was in 1997
Her vibrato is so fast and accuarte in head listen how she does Alfie! She does a brief whistle note she does that whooo after Alfie, Whitney is a trip!
Whitney takes a song apart then puts it back together; new and improved!

Incredible singer, but she doesn't come close to Dionne's version.
She sucked the true emotion right out of the song.

2:31 notice the echo she does in head voice, then she hits a brief whistle note 2:37! She can do wonders with her voice. That's sick!
kmaur21 3 years ago 11
She does that echo with the microphone. It's done by shaking the microphone up and down in front of her mouth.

I think he's talking about the fact that she's doing it in head voice, regardless of her her shaking the mic.

Thats true soulshock4444! Whitney could easily sound like Bodyguard Whitney when rested and taking care of her voice.

No. THis is one of her "Classic Whitney" concerts back in 1997. The Welcome Home Heroes concert was in Norkfolk in early 1991.
