  • You can tell he has no experience using a katana, just by looking the angle in which he swings

  • that guy is playing around with replica swords and once he holds real katana in hand he thinks its a lightsaber :) earlier i saw older video from same guy who almost broke his hand from smashing replica in water bottle

  • I came here for the free useful sharp Katana

and get it , under the view counter.

  • dude migth have to use more your body in it i havent start cuting yet but i thing more body in be good

  • @MrKaoNiaow WHAT A COUNTRY! yes it is true, aint it glorious!

  • that is a sharp katana!!! why do people hate this? 112 dislikes over only 35 likes??? ok, so the form is not perfect, but he at least wears a costume, right??? i think those of us who appreciate katanas should put some more likes in this videos favor... just a thought... or write hater comments on my NEW youtube video: "Katana Apple Cut"!!! hahahahahaha later haters!!!

  • @TSUNAMIxxTIGERxxFANG tyhanks man, it is easy to hate and to tell someone they suck. it is a whole world more difficult to do something that the masses can't pick apart.

  • a real samurai would not have that much litter on the ground

  • sharpest katana? try the dullest

  • holy hell the first sword was so dull hahaha, however the second one was impressive, and watch your fucking mouth lol just kidding, keep it up!

  • Niggers, white trash, gooks and spicks are everybody but me.

  • @jalobeaulieu1 please don't feed the troll

  • george fisher from cannibal corpse would be scared of that thing

103 people got fucked WITH THAT KATANA

  • Comment removed

  • where was the second sword purchased from?

  • @ThisIsJefficus the second sword was a Cheness Kaze purchased from Cheness and sharpened by me. it is a decent handling sword but has pretty sub standard fittings. the Kaze is the only Cheness sword that I personally like at all and my tastes have moved on to the point I'd never buy another. but boy-howdy was that sucker sharp.

  • The virginity is strong with this one...

  • @acdc355 you are a very poor judge of character. we are both fathers. oh wait a second, you meant yourself, ok I get it, sorry about that. good luck in the future buddy.

  • @Ianflaer LOL its a joke i bet you are a father and sorry for not making it clear tht i wuz joking

  • @acdc355 sorry man this video grabs so much hate I guess I over reacted. sorry.

  • @Ianflaer It was my fault i shouldnt have even said anything i actually like youre videos keep em comin!

  • @acdc355 ahh don't blame yourself, I over-reacted. glad we are cool. My buddy and I do come off heavy on the nerd, but oh well, we're nerds I guess we should just own it. lol.

  • oh and if the hamon line is real it won't disappear when you wet stone sharpen the blade, they only disappear when it is a wire brushed hamon line, real hamon lines are clay tempered onto the blade, heated deep into the metal.

  • im sorry but whoever said they sharpened there katana with a belt sander, that is not how you are supposed to sharpen a katana, you need to buy a wet stone, show the sword some respect.

  • @ABORTONEGRAF grit is grit buddy it doesn't matter two shakes if it is on a paper, a belt, or a stone. I have immense respect for my swords as they are deadly weapons that I could potentially hurt myself with. they are not a part of my soul, there is zero spiritual connection with them (though I do love and adore them). lastly the makers use belt sanders on these swords during production. it isn't disrespectful use a belt sander, it is smart. if this was a $20K nihonto things would be differnt

  • @ABORTONEGRAF you really think he would spend close 1k for a good stone just so he could sharpen a $200 sword? are you high?

  • @personwhoisbored1000 my stone was 2 grand :D my sword was 7

  • he cant cut

  • WY ALL THE HATERS

  • respect the kendo

  • Which sword was the lazer sharp one again?

  • @StayGold42 the one I sharpened on my belt sander. it was a Cheness Kaze. I later sharpened the Hanwei Bushido and got it even sharper.

  • @Ianflaer Right on, I own a Kaze also and I've been trying to figure out how to sharpen and polish with out ruining the blade or scratching up the surface. Any advice?

  • "yea, see, Fuuuuck YOU!" i love america :)

  • lol

  • goes to show the difference. and sharpening it, well, heh, results are right there laying the grass...eek. really sharp. O.O" btw, nice cutting! and scary good job sharpening it. yeesh. talk about torso slicer...yeeha.

  • @LukyRemington thank you, yes a good sharpening does make a real difference. I was amazed at how easy it was to sharpen on the sander.

  • "Yeah see, fuck you!" I lol'd.

  • Awesome LOL ! Stay sharper Hiro! Great video.

  • i see you are dieing to be Japanese hahahahahahah friend of Hiroshi LOL omg

  • Burger Kings Security.

  • Well... belt sanders are pimp-ass xD How does this affect the hamon though? I'm sure it's sharper than if traditionally sharpened, but traditional sharpening brings out hamons nicely.

  • @MrTefached Every sword is a little different, some swords actually have their hamon pop out better after a belt sharpening while with others it disappears. as long as the hamon is real a little hand polishing and and maybe some etching will bring it back out. there's no way a belt sharpening will ever equal a traditional polishing for awesome hamon and steel grain showing and if you have a sword that wants that sort of polish a belt sander is a no-no. traditonal polish can b very sharp if right

  • @Ianflaer True that. But then again, $40 for the sander and like $40 for lots of belts and compound is way more economic than a $2,000+ traditional polish with a two-three year waiting list.

  • Sharpened it yourself huh? What method? wet dry sandpaper? or do you have those expensive stones? I have an Odachi that I'm using the wet dry sandpaper method on, but I cant seem to find small packs of 3000 grit wet/dry. Awesome vid, Hiroshi cracked me up.

  • @3Y3ECE thanks, I used a belt sander on this one. progressive grit belts all the way up to leather strop makes an amazing edge. I have tutorial videos on my channel about it.

  • Didn't you cut a triple mat with the atrim falchion?

  • @madax132 yes I did and it wasn't nearly this sharp. some swords just cut better than others but this was the first time I had felt anything so smooth and effortless

  • @TriedandTrueArmory Would you recommend the fachion as the best cutting single hander of the munitions grade atrims?

  • @madax132 simply put, yes. there's a slightly shorter version of the falchion coming out soon which should be very close to the same ability as the longer version and be a bit quicker.

  • what a goober

  • dud you need to sharpen your sword. I can help my methods are a bit....iconoclastic but I can help.

  • Yeah good job Hiroshi! [doubt that's his name though lol]

  • @xxReaverXXCerberusxx two reasonable people in one week, I am amazed. thank you for not being a jerk. Hiroshi is his real legal name though not the name he was born with.

  • I don't even understand the negativity here, slick cut and good reaction. lol

  • @Drebin416 I'm sorry to say it, but around here a guy doing something like this is either a god or the village idiot and even more sadly which is which is more often determined by things that have nothing to do with skill. the 'Tube is a battleground of egos in which intellect and skill play a very limited part.

I thank you for being one of the very, very few reasonable people

  • 1:53 .. expecting someone to lose an eye..

  • @bucksblessed pleased to disappoint you

  • Ok not a bad video. But I would like to see a more serious review of the blades if you would be so kind as to do one. Thanks.

  • still living in your parents basement ah

  • I don't know anything about katanas but how much do they weigh?

  • @sliceofjam100

1.3 kg roughly the same as european Longswords...

  • The sharoest katana Cold steel is shatper

  • it isn't about the sword. It is about the sword's man. I've seen people cut steel with a dull blade. I pooped my pants.

  • Talk about some jackasses

  • @Armornone yes in deed. for a casual video of two guys at a cutting party having a good time this video has pulled down some serious hate. so odd. maybe they are jealous of all the tatami we cut that day. LOOK AT THE MESS!!!

  • Fucking dickhead!

  • @gua543 Such nice people here on youtube, thanks for being one of them.

  • @Ianflaer no problem, always happy to help

  • @gua543 If you would Look at his head you would see no dick attached to it,So he cant have a fucking dickhead^^

  • my energy sword is WAY better... but the batteries are dead....

  • @xXspartan125Xx ah dude that sucks, those batteries are EXPENSIVE man, I'm sorry to hear it. oh well I guess I'll just have to make do with my inferior but battery free swords.

  • yeah great way you talk about a katana and great way to use it ( shaving)....PD: retards

  • Yeah, see. Fuck you. Fuuuuuck you"

  • @xXspartan125Xx

Ladies and gentlemen, this person gets it!

that comment alone was reason enough to post the video.

    PRICELESS!

thank you for watching we had a ton of fun that day.

  • thats dull, im gonna go play with my hattori hanzo sword now bye..

  • @SenoirMeow yup fictitious items are so much better, ok bye-bye now come on back when your imagination gets tired.

  • not sharp at all, couldnt cut a mat.

  • @coopercrue some advice: watch the whole video and pay attention before making such comments and you will prevent yourself from looking like an idiot. the whole point was that the first sword was not very sharp, but the second sword is incredibly sharp.

  • @Ianflaer oh sorry, you could have put "regular sword" first though.

  • @coopercrue what fun would that have been? ;)

  • Nice kitchen apron dude

  • @metfan583 it is, isn't it? yes I like it, wish I had one just like it in fact.

  • I love the reaction after swinging right through the mats without effort "Yeah, see. Fuck you. Fuuuuuck you" :D Nice one.

  • @LanviLauri yup that was what I loved most about this video. Hiroshi had been having trouble all day cutting with his swords, then when he used mine (that I had sharpened) he suddenly realized there WAS a difference. I had been getting really smooth cuts all day and that sword being so sharp was part of the reason. a few days later Hiroshi had me sharpening his swords. this was a fun day, we made a big mess.

  • @Ianflaer Yeah, I actually noticed the mess that was already on the lawn ;) Makes me reminisce the time when I practiced iaito, some years ago. I've only had the chance to do tameshigiri twice. Loved it both times :)

  • haha you look more like a sumo than a samurai!

  • WITH ENOUGH STRIKES "ANYTHING" CAN LOOK THE SHARPEST OF ITS CATAGORY

  • actually the opposite is true. wee you paying attention, he changed swords after the first few hits.

  • ok... give it to me.

  • i hope you know one part of sword training is keeping your training area clean & clear of debris

  • The sharpest katana I've ever seen is my friend's sword, I've seen it cut through a single mat in a very slow motion, and simply goes through a five mat wrap.

  • @RaiAntou wooo that sure sounds sharp. this one would go through single mats effortlessly as well. in fact Hiroshi's wife took a swing with it and just barely swung it at all and it slid right through the mat. I never did anything as big as a 5 mat roll. these things cost so much money I hate to blow that much on one cut. yup I'm cheap.

  • @Ianflaer Well, his sword is a Japan Made Katana and he has been training iaido/ tameshigiri for 8 years since my age =)

  • @RaiAntou well it is probably a high quality sword and that alone is reason enough for it to cut better. one of my best cutting swords is also one of my dullest. there's a lot more to making a good cutting sword than just sharpness but I'm sure you knew that already.

  • dam how many mats did you go through, and how much do mats cost?

  • @frozenwalkway well my buddies and I all pitched in for mats that day and we ended up with 80 mats, and about 2 dozen stalks of bamboo of varying size.

mats tend to cost in the realm of 5-7 dollars each. so yeah there was some serious money out into this party but we had 8 people cutting that day and we spent all day at it. so yeah it was a big mess too. lots of fun though, will do it again someday. I'd rather spend that money on mats than liquor.

  • Where did u get ur kaze?

  • @superaustinthomas a web site called swords of the east but it was more expensive there than I should have paid. I would have had a better deal from sword-buyers-guide site sbg has a kick-ass forum too

  • wow....that's not sharp at all.....my katana can slice through that thing w/ one swing w/ out the bottom part moving....

  • @wavesurfer81 show it to me.

I know this may not LOOK all that sharp but you didn't feel the cut.

the bottom moving has more to do with edge alignment than sharpness.

  • @Avi4torMATT or maybe not.

  • You need to work on the way you hold your sword while you swing it. You're wrists are stiff: -they should "snap" & "pull" move when you swing. :)

  • @JavaLover247

I do no cutting in this video, but I'll pass your comments on to my buddy. thank you.

  • i could say lots of stuff but all ill say is a cheap katana can be sharp enough to shave with.

  • @tim0090 well I thank you for keeping your comments in the realm of politeness. that was pretty much the point here. this was shortly after I first started using a belt sander to sharpen my blades and we were all just stunned by how crazy sharp it was

  • @Ianflaer it was border line lol hmm i dont know about the belt sander. i use a ceramic sharpener and i find it works really well. but i dont use it like you would think. how sharp the blade gets usually largely depends on the amount of carbide in the blade. you could sharpen a knife and be able shave with it but an hour later it would be like you never bothered im not sure why probably to do with oxidation of the blade. i always got told not to put the sword further that horizontal down ur back

  • @tim0090 well carbide is one thing and carbon content is another, but more importantly how hard the blade has been made via the whole hardening-tempering/heat treatment is what determines how sharp a blade can be made and how long it will keep that edge. if you are making a blade shaving sharp then finding it dull not long after, then you are probably making your edge angle too narrow. if it is really narrow anything at all can dull it from a little bit of rust to normal use.

  • @tim0090 as for putting the blade more than horizontal down the back, well all I can say is every style and form has different ideas. I don't know what Hiroshi's school taught him but some of the European styles I have studied definitely have stances where the sword goes more than horizontal.

as for this being a video to laugh at, that's ok with me it was meant to be kinda funny, I just don't like the guys who have to crack fat jokes or try to degrade people

thank you for your polite comment

  • @Ianflaer

i guess they do but it makes sense. there isn't going to be much advantage to putting the sward down your back, you may gain a small amount of momentum but you loose too much time! i think all martial arts have been servilely watered down. i got told by Sensei Fujimori's so i wouldn't consider it to be European. yer but we all do it sometimes!!!

  • @tim0090 Well it is my opinion that the European sword arts have actually not been watered down much at all because they do not have a living history. those of us who study them work out of historical documentation or fechtbuchs which are pretty much the equivalent of the scrolls that get passed down from master to master in the eastern martial arts. they have been unchanged for 500-ish years or close to that depending on the particular manual. it is an interesting study.

  • @Ianflaer

do you know any good websites with old martial arts manuals they are really hard to find? and just because they are old still doesn't make them right!

  • @tim0090 look for TheArma (dotorg) and do google searches for Talhoffer 1467, Liechtenaur's Art, Ringeck, fechtbuch, and i.33. also look up sites for HEMA, check out the youtube channel MEMAG and google any manuscript they reference. there's a lot of it out there you just have to find the right nook or niche to start digging in. the stuff I have here should be a decent start. good luck.

  • How come it's always big geeks who buy and use these swords? Like, they always look like World of Warcraft players or Dungeons and Dragons lovers etc

  • @ifihaveausernameits because it is the big geeks who love these things enough to spend the time and money on them.

  • @Ianflaer Have you ever used a ninjato?

  • @Thespianation96 yes,don't much care for them.

  • @Ianflaer how cna a sword be gay

    stop with the gay hate

  • @ifihaveausernameits and it is the big geeks who can afford it opposed to u, who will never make more htan $20 an hour

  • @mcmikeblues ya, cause you know how much I make per hour... what a fuckin retard. Like my hourly wage even has anything to do with gay swords and nerds. get help moron.

  • @ifihaveausernameits

1.You generalize geeks as buyers of these weapons.

    2.You judge by appearance.

    3. How would you know what WoW and DnD players look like?

    4. If you did, you would be making another generalization.

My answer to your question: Why the hell not?

  • Well technique aside (no teacher ever berates lack in technique as practice perfects) that victorious "fuck you" was unnecessary as well as a complete breach of the code of conduct (reiho) :P

  • @sublimestyle21 this isn't a dojo so the only code of conduct is that which doesn't offend your friend. had you been there you probably would have understood why that "fuck you" was so funny.

  • @Ianflaer Well, I do have a sense of humor (No matter what my friends may say :P) and I know this isn't a dojo. The previous was only a retorical statement involving the whole setup, f.e. Why is there a need to be dressed in hakama and keikogi since you are not practicing budo? :P (at least at the moment). Btw I'm absolutely not saying the "fuck you" wasn't funny :D

  • @sublimestyle21 Your such a "Fuck You" DUCHE. You uptight PRICK ASSWHOLE!

  • @askaboutRudyV Who ever asked for YOUR opinion, jackass? Do the world a favor and crawl in a dark corner and fucking DIE!!! :D

  • im getting a katana this christmas

  • @jimsim1001 congrats please use it responsibly

  • @Ianflaer yes its a really gd one

  • im getting a katana this chirsmas well two katanas

and ive got too say that a GOOD FUCKING KATANA

  • @mark061996 the sword Hiroshi started with is actually a much higher quality katana then the one he made the cut with. the difference? the first sword was 6 years old and needed sharpening, while the second one was brand new and sharpened by me and was therefor razor sharp. sharpness makes a difference. for budget katana I like Munetoshi best but some musashi brand (for extreme budget) are pretty ok, Hanwei practicals aren't bad. anyway, thanks and I hope you find a katana you love.

  • iaido pawns more im randomly saying this

  • Though Leucine might be a 15 year old illiterate punk, he is right. your swinging from the Jodan stance. While the blade is above your head you have what we call "chicken wings". Your elbows should be in not out. Your not stepping with your right foot which is very dangerous. The whole move is dependent on that step. And your over swinging. The tip of the blade should never dip below the handle from that stance. Oh, and when you cut, remember away, downwards, then towards. My $80 musashi can too

  • @xKamnx let's take a look at Hiroshi's cutting then shall we? chicken wings: yup he's got 'em, I totally agree it is better to have elbows tucked. I have landed many strikes on elbows of guys who hold them that way in sparring matches. not stepping with the right foot really isn't dangerous, especially when the right foot is already forward as is the case here. this is a common belief propagated by people with some but not great JSA experience. he is over swinging (more coming in a minute)

  • @xKamnx true, his over-all motion is one of vertical collapse and draw instead of extending into the cut letting, etc. however, let us give the guy a bit of a break as he was rather inexperienced at cutting tatami at this point and was a bit intimidated by that really large mat. also his Hanwei Bushido was pretty damn dull and he had been using it all day so I think it understandable that he overswung here. and . . . one last post yet to come from me then it is your turn again.

  • @xKamnx finally, I really appreciate your polite manners and supporting your arguments with informed opinion, I see that you have no videos posted and as if it would be possible for you to video and post a demonstration in reply to show us how you think it should have looked. even if you use a boken and don't cut anything I think a demo would be a great.

I wonder if I put in the description of this video that I'm not the one cutting if people would stop telling me how I suck here. I wonder.

  • no offense whatsoever u suck ass at cutting

  • @leucine100 no offense what so ever you are a complete idiot.

do you really think you can say "no offense" and use that as some sort of magical spell to take all the offensiveness out of the most offensive thing you could possibly say? your channel says you are 15 so I guess I should expect childish and immature behavior but really kid, is this what you think is right?

also, I do no cutting in this video. still, I'd love to see what you can do with a triple roll of mugen dachi tatami.

  • @Ianflaer did i ask u how old i was ? i dun tiink so nd yea it does take it away lyke a lil magic spell nd dun go tryn ta teach me bout "is tht wat u think is riight?" haha it dun matter nd yea im sure i could cut it nd trust me boii it wasnt anywere near to the most offensive thng i could say

  • @leucine100 seeing as this is how you think then, and seeing as how you continue to be intolerably rude, I am now asserting my adult authority on your young an ignorant punk self and blocking you from my channel. if in the future you prove to have matured I can always unblock you. Kid, this is no way to behave, if i were your father (and I have children older than you) you'd be a very sorry young man for acting this way. my channel = my house show have some manners.

  • damn man clean your back yard up but lol nice sword

  • @Gunsmith420 lol we did. we cut 80 tatami that day and several bottles it was a gigantic mess.

  • @Ianflaer cool put that sword to use sadly i cut a bunch of bottles with mine and i dryed my blade but i pulled it from the sheath and my blade was rusty and now its all rusty sucks :/

  • @Gunsmith420 dry is one thing, but oiled is what it needs to be. get a bunch of 600, 800, and 1000 grit wet/dry sand paper. carefully sand the length of your blade until all rust is gone. you may do this wet or dry. start with 600 grit (400 if the rust is really bad) then after the rust is 100% gone use the next higher grit sand paper, until it all looks the same, then next grit. until you have your blade nice and shiny again. the put oil on it. choji, 3-in-1 household, gun oil R all good.

  • @Ianflaer oh well i don't have any of those stones lol

  • @Gunsmith420 who needs stones? go to Walmart or an auto-parts store and get wet/dry automotive sand paper in the listed grit.

  • @Gunsmith420 if your sword has sticky gunk on it clean it with alcohol or warm soapy water and then alcohol then oil. but you gotta get the rust off first.

once your sword is clean and pretty again keep it oiled. always. you don't need to make it drip oil, just a light coat on the whole blade.

good luck if you need help ask.

  • @Ianflaer how do you remove the rust

  • @Gunsmith420 with sand paper. start with 400-ish grit I'd say maybe 600 grit paper if the rust light

  • Man, I'd love to see what you can do with a Gurkha kukri after you sharpened it. Going through a triple mat with a knife would be epic...

  • @truggeri I could make it very, very sharp most likely, but it would still need to be big enough to get through the thickness of all those mats. maybe you'd have to cut a circle around the mats in a "behead the hostage" kind of move. gruesome.

  • thanks mate i think i will train with a wooden sword first to get my skills higher thats what my master told me even so i would just buy one for its beauty

  • @baaroodii that is a great idea, and one I wish more people would use. you sir are doing the smart thing and you have my respect. I trained with rattan for many years before I ever cut regularly with a live sharp blade, and when I say many years I mean nearly 20. no need to go that extreme of course but training blunt is smart. in the end I think you will get more training.

thanks for the comments hope to hear from you again

  • nice sword reminds me i dont know much about sword making poeple can you tell me please about a really good one or a good company thnks

  • @baaroodii thank you. it really depends on what you want and how much you can afford to spend. I mean if you have $10+ thousand to burn you can get a sword made by Howard Clark or a Japanese master and have an amazing sword, but if, like most of us, you have a more modest budget then here's a quick run-down by price point: <$100 - Musashi, < $400 Hanwei practicals, SwordnArmory, Ronin katana, I don't know much above that. look to sword-buyers-guide or sword forum international for more info.

  • am not your friend, and definitely will not, might have a hara kiri if i will be in your size ;p and NO your a disgrace to the art showing how you use it as a TOY!!! yeah IM having a Gut time watching your lame demos! ;p

  • @mikiekohiggs you are welcome to continue to enjoy my videos, but you will do it in silence. this is my channel, my house, you have shown too much disrespect to retain your voice here. grow up young man, you have no excuse for your behavior.

  • white monkeys!! stop fooling around, your just like a pig or a swine wearing a costume, holding a stick, yeah thats a stick, i can beat you even if im holding a shinai,, LMAO

  • all youtube katanas only work if the target is left standing for 40 seconds.....

  • the fat ass samurai get out of the way afro

  • not impressive... quite common.. or should i say, you suck! i gotta agree with them

  • @icecrimson common? yeah, ok. I suppose you might think that considering the increasing number of really cool cutting video showing up on Youtube these days. but what you see is not what you get here, you would have had to FEEL that cut to understand. so, next time you wander into someone else's backyard be it digital or real world maybe you could figure out how to be a polite guest. I bet you wouldn't talk that way to us face to face.

  • @Ianflaer you said i had to feel the cut? i haven't uploaded any cutting vids so i expected you to say that.. but seriously, i can do what you did in this vid easily..

aside from that.. the reason why others tell you "you suck" (and i agree) is because of this vid's title.. "The Sharpest Katana?" maybe it is.. maybe not, but yet, we didn't see at least a basic form! you're having a hard time against that target!

i know, im not a pro to preach you, but damn, at least show us some basics!

  • @icecrimson you seem to be missing the point. this was a comparison between the first sword which was very dull and 6 years old but an excellent sword (hanwei bushido) and the second sword which was a comparatively cheap cheness kaze but that was sharpened by myself. I found it amusing how Hiroshi reacted to cutting with it. he went on his little rant all by himself I just played along. did you realize that the person you are talking to isn't the guy with the sword?

  • @icecrimson ok I'll step into this one more little bit. the fact that you have uploaded no video was in no way an issue in my previous comments so now I will address it. until such time as you do upload a video you are nothing more than an arm-chair samurai who knows nothing but how to be an ass towards people who, unlike you, have the intestinal fortitude to actually post something real and to bear public scrutiny. you are a loud-mouthed punk with no credibility right now. change it if you dare

  • @Ianflaer LOL! wall of text! don't worry, once i got a camera, even if you don't dare me to do so, i will certainly upload some cutting vids! haha! now i have one more reasons to do so!

  • @icecrimson yeah he looks like a bullshito cutting technique, swine wearing costume and holding his stick hahahahhaha

  • @mikiekohiggs yeah, even if he used a kaze or an L6 from howard clark, i highly doubt he would cut that target with his professional "baseball bat" cutting form!
