The Chronicles of Riddick was fun but Pitch Black was much better. Less flashiness and more straight forward character development.

They were thinking that people would have already seen pitch black so they didn't need to develop Riddick's character any more, and the necromongers were supposed to be a more mysterious race to create fear in the viewer, so they didn't develop their charcters that much anyway.

That makes sense but, it doesn't make the film any better. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the second one, it just didn't leave a lasting impression like Pitch Black did.

And what was with the CGI knife flipping around in his hand? A few hours of practice and he could have done it without the effects.

@log6778 I disagree. I think Lord and Dame Vaako made the movie. It was better then Pitch Black just because of them. But Riddick himself just isn't that cool.
