I dont think he was no where to being one of the top guys that night, otherwise he would have placed. If you read online on David Nieto's site how the guys were scored, he was no where to being the top guy in any of those areas being scored:
-choreography (Execution/Difficulty)=choreography was not good an not clean,
-Styling (Shines/Footwork/Flavor)=too many awkward and unclear moves, bad hands ,
-Technique=No technique, bad lines
-Stage Presence=No real costume he did not stand out
he looked down at the floor too much and he lacked energy
-Musicality=Some moves don't go well with music
-Timing=Bad timing in some sections
-Crowd Response=Was very poor to average
I am only saying this because it seems like he has some friends that might be writing negative comments on other competitors performance videos of how he was the best one or top 3, but if we really look at all the things that judges were looking for, he did not do better than the other guys that placed.
Dont have people writing negative comments on others. Your friends might be supporting you blindly, but it gives you negative promotion, when they are insulting almost every LA salsero. People might take it against you. Also, in the future, if you prepare for the competition you will realize my comments are not hater comments but are the truth, if not consult with a professional that has won competitions or judged competitions and asked them, if you really deserved top 3.
Yes because if you look at the positive comments on Joel's video, those people are the same people calling the gay/femine/maricon to the other LA salsero. So it is Joel's supporters writing the negative comments. I think the top 8 did a much better job than Joel. Plus the judges thought so too, otherwise they would have scored him higher. I dont think it is relevant for them to write negative comments on others. So, I gave my unbias opinion of why he did poorly.
No that white pants guy was awful, but a performer should stand out and his outfit over some of the other guys was not impressive. He looked like the just a regular guy that could be part of the audience. Stage presence has to do also his connection with the audience, but he spent most of the time looking at his feet while he was doing the footwork.
I was criticized on stage precense too, but dont worry for the final I'm bringing stage presence all the way in a new routine. This routine simply doesn't work without stage presence and charm so I'll either do it or die trying.
Love the fact that you're not anonimous. You did great and I'm sure you'll bring it. Next time I see you, te saco a bailar. I only danced with you on my bday dance and that was long ago. BTW, I'm Sandy's BFF Celia.
Which site are the scores one? I didn't get to see that. I agree with most of your comments, as they are unbiased and from a neutral standpoint. I also think calling the guys gay/maricon...etc. is completely uncalled for. As I previously stated in another comment, do we really want carbon copies? Originality baby!

Yeah he should have worn army fatigues and then stripped down to low rise jiggling white gay pants like the other guy for "Stage Presence." LOL
