War is hell. Its really too bad that there still unsolved emotions that lingers. For all overseas and Vietnamese left behinds there a lots of pain, disappointment, and suffering that everyone must goes through.
I know my father who fought on the south side rarely talk about his experience and battle deep deep depression.
Andrew, I know I've said it before but I'll say it again. Thank you. I've been watching this 10x today as a source of inspiration for my Berkeley personal statement. I'm not going to lie, it had me in tears.

p.s. I can't wait for our new book to be publish. Btw, I've read Nam Le's, I personally felt I can relate to your writing a lot more.
i left vietnam in 1986 under the Orderly Departure Program, your story deeply touched my heart. I am going back to Vietnam for the very first time in july of 2009, quite nervous and not expecting how to overcome my emotional.
good luck with returning. it's a necessary trip even if just to say good bye. please check out "Perfume Dreams: Reflections on the Vietnamese Diaspora" esp on the topic of Viet Kieu...
God bless these folks... heartbreaking. If there is a bright side, it will be that in 20 more years there will be democracy there.
