are those plastic clips supporting all that weight around the waist or are they metal? if plastic, what makes them so durable and to what weight load capacity as I have had my fair share of plastic breakage.
@revup67 All backpacks these days use plastic buckles. I'm sure there are good buckles and cheap buckles. However, I have never had one break on a pack made by one of the main camera back or backpack companies and I carry a lot of weight in my camera packs.
@PhotographyREVIEW Specifically the Canon shoulder bag uses all metal clips (I've got one) - no plastic anywhere to be found on that bag. Optimally I chose to order the Flipside 400 and give it a go especially with a limited lifetime warranty. Just hope that warranty would include the clips should they break. Saw a user review on BandH that did report clip breakage.
You mean one with a non-camera compartment? Lowepro does make a pack like that, although I don't recall the name at the moment. My favorite is the Clik Elite Medium Nature. Look through my videos and you'll find one on that backpack.
coddot i have it and it still works even when it's fully loaded and the front pouch loaded with MORE crap than it should have had (i used it to hold some extra crap on an international flight home). It goes a tad lower but it doesn't flip over and stuff doesn't come out or anything like that.
Interesting point, coddot. I haven't tried it so I on't know. Tim did tell me that a well-known pro ski photographer uses it and loves it. Not having to take off your backpack would be huge for ski photography. Maybe he packs light, though?

when that bag is full of gear I do not think you can do that anymore with the belt strap due to the weight
