Can you give me some tips on how you got so good at drawing? I'm finding it hard to sketch unless I have a reference. What did you do for practice?

@lordportico Well, my first tip would be merely to draw a lot : the more you draw the more you improve. My second tip would be to draw often WITHOUT reference : even if you are not happy with the result, you will work much more your drawing skills that way, focusing on the way you shape the lines, the volumes, and so on, and you will know better what to look at when you will see the real objects. In other words, observe carefully the things when you don't draw, and draw without reference.

It's a common stylistic choice to draw characters with oversized heads, isn't it?

@nimbleline true, but still anatomy remains correct there, only in manga it's evaluated with half the head, not the whole head as it is in normal anatomy, but if he's going for fantasy then of course I apologize for telling him that his proportions are not entirely correct, for of course fantasy is not real.

I draw from my head, if you ask whether I was actually looking at a picture when I drew it. I wasn't.

But it is an interesting issue for when I draw from my head, I obviously use things that I saw in the past. So the difference between drawing from imagination and drawing a model is not so clear.

That's really great! Nevermind people saying 'you could have done so much better, if this and that", it's a sketch after all and it looks amazing the way it does. I remember when we had to do dynamic pictures in class and mine all looked so static because I focused on clean, clear lines and details. I should've done it the way you did it in the video =/

Pretty good, but the shading is horrid. If all the shading lines were cleaner, it would have made the overall drawing 6 times better. The lines you have make the woman look wrinkly.

Well, I am not a professional drawer - I draw sometimes just for fun - but I would be glad to teach some things about drawing if people are interesting in learning them. But... in which part of the world do you live ?...

One way to do would be that you post a video response here and I would tell you how to improve. I guess that it could be interesting for other people as well.

@wowaddictification that jumpyness is just a way to make a clean line, it comes with experience. try drawing a line very quickly and then that same line slowly, look which comes out better

it was a nice effort, but are you seriously commending the proportions out of all the things you could have praised? the head looks ridiculous. from the angle while he drew, it was alright, but once you got the upright picture, it looked awful. the body looks good though. i could have done that without all that pre-sketches. as in, i do single clear lines. you have to have everything figured out in your mind before you put it down on paper, otherwise you make a bunch of ugly, unnecessary lines

I like the precise, soft curve of the arms. And the way you do your hands is so much less OCD than my process XD
